My brother literally just said to me yesterday, stop being stingy with paint! Then he pointed to a saturated part and said more like this! I love love love this tip! My brother said pale watercolors are timid artists!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕happy new year
I say to my students to use more paint! It’s hard when you are just learning. I even had a friend tell me to use and egg carton to rinse my brush in separate wells so I can use that water to paint with. I get being frugal but if you are holding back because of cost you are holding back your potential. Use cheaper paint until you get more confident.
I forget that light doesn't just bounce off of things, if they aren't completely solid like rock, it illuminates from within, shines thru them to a degree and enhances the appearance of the saturation of their color... like putting your finger over a flashlight. Thank you for this.
Exactly! The effect is quite similar 😁 And in this painting I used a lot of saturated colors, generally speaking. You could intensify the effect even more with fewer saturated colors
Thank you my friend 😊🙏🏼 Wishing you a wonderful 2025 🥳 Also, if this specific subject is challenging, you can zoom in on just a single bulb and paint it larger. You will see all the nuances more easily!
Nice demo! I was looking at some Mary Cassat paintings at a museum recently and I noticed that she would have little bits of pure color here and there. Really added a lot of life to the paintings.
Happy New Year from Missouri 🎉 Its been a thrill watching u grow as an artist & to literally watch u become a master of watercolor. Ive been learning from u & enjoying ur journey for many years now. Thank u 🥳 Keep on keeping on! B well, always ✌🏻 ps: with as much grift there is on social media, its the honest & sincere content creators like urself who make the internet such a wonderful tool. 😃
Oh thank you so much 😊🙏🏼 Have a wonderful 2025 ❤️🥳 So funny you mention that, I have been thinking a lot about my content lately. There’s undeniable desire to keep growing, but as soon as I find myself trying to appease an algorithm too much, or compromise on how I want a video to be (slow pace, with all the umms and uhhs), I stop myself. I hope to be able to preserve the spirit of what UA-cam was about way in the beginning. Just authentic creators. Thank you ☺️
I’m really enjoying this tutorial! Such a perfect example of how to paint with watercolor. How you build it a few layers at a time! Happy New Year! Looking forward to an amazing 2025!
Liron, hi! I love the transition between light and dark, it's very beautiful the subtle transitioning. Take care, Happy New Year 2025, many good things for you!❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😊 For the greens it was Hansa Yellow Light (PY3) and Phthalo Blue (Red Shade) - PB 15 - both Daniel Smith! When mixed cleanly they can make a really strong green. Even the yellow almost on its own can feel a little green. As for the brush, it’s from Michael Solovyev’s set - and it’s SUPER useful. You should be able to find it on Amazon.
Wow wow wow !!!!!! Thank u so much absolutely fantastic tip, tutorial and explanation, can’t wait to have another go at something I’ve painted already looking at it completely differently xxx
good morning Liron. I was wondering if one of those larger sponge brushes would do the same thing and have the same effects (when you wet those areas at the first)? With love from Fayetteville, Arkansas!
Could very well work! I can’t remember who it was, perhaps Javid Tabatabaei, who I saw a vid of just recently. He was wetting with a sponge, and even using it to manipulate the paint around. Something I myself should try as well (:
Amazing as always! I love how you mix your colors. I have the opposite "problem" than the one you mention: I am oversaturating everything and afterwards I have to add glazes to desaturate. Not a huge problem except for the wallet as using earth pigments are cheaper than the very bright pigments I end up mixing anyway.
Haha I see! I like this problem (: But yes, it’s sometimes easy to see a very gray red, for example, and say - that’s a red! And then proceed to paint with a very very strong saturation. And then do the same for everything. I think if you start understanding how light and shadow works, and how colors under / inside shadows are more gray, it will start connecting for you 🙏🏼 Thank you for watching ☺️
Haha yes, I love it! I believe it’s a Hansa Yellow Light (PY3) by Daniel Smith. It’s semi transparent too, so you can use it wet in wet on DARKS and it looks fantastic.
Yes, for sure! I also have a playlist aimed specifically at beginners right here: ua-cam.com/play/PL4RPz8RY0GsMcoUbuPnotLCVlbrRhftpc.html&si=84taCmMY7lOqOcFI
Liron..cant figure out patron...for soome reason blocked. I tried to change suppport...i hope it is going thru. Loved this post as saturation of color was an issue i had when i was starting to switch to watercolor from oil.
Thank you so much Marjorie 😊🙏🏼 Happy it was useful! As for Patreon - yes, I think if you open a support ticket they should be able to figure it out. I would if I could 🙏🏼
Well done Liron, I will be sharing this excellent observation about saturation with my students at the Franklin Carmichael Art Group. Thanks and Happy 2025, Nancy Buckingham
Yeah, of course the moment I finish recording I think to myself “it’s called a prickly pear or something, right?” 😂 But I still wasn’t 100% and had to check. Thank you for confirming it again for me 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Watercolour and I do not have the easiest of friendships (I use it because I have to paint but have a respiratory allergy to acrylics). Watching your video made me smile and 'I saw the light' 😂, so there is a way forward after all. I've purchased your frustration free watercolour video and realism video too and I shall now attempt to befriend my foe. Thank you.
Haha so happy to hear! 😁 Sucks about the allergy, but I think you’ll slowly fall in love with watercolor, and prefer it to other media too! And by the way, thank you so so much for joining the courses 😊🙏🏼 I really appreciate it
Haha I am A/B testing different thumbnails & using a UA-cam plugin of sorts 😂 Funny enough - the most successful one is the one I took… In a day or a couple of days you’ll see that one, when I select the best performing thumb.
Hi. I like your style. But, sorry, when you said you would add some water and then splashed a big drop of really muddy water on, I lost it. On my screen, I see no orange, just a muddy brown. Maybe start with clean water? No offence, just my observation.
My brother literally just said to me yesterday, stop being stingy with paint! Then he pointed to a saturated part and said more like this! I love love love this tip! My brother said pale watercolors are timid artists!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕happy new year

Really gives some passaz to an object. Thx for the technique!
Wow! I love how you painted the Prickly Pear Cactus! The luminosity is beautiful!
Thank you! This is the specific but that inspired me to paint this in the first place 😁🙏🏼
"Freedom leads to better results." Love it. True in painting and much of life!
Indeed 😊🙏🏼 Honestly I have a lot to learn from my freedom in painting, when it comes to other parts of my life 😂
Wow! I didn't expect those colors to come together so well. Amazing tutorial! Thank you.
Thank you so much!! ☺️🙏🏼
Thank you Liron, I am going to practice this one ❤️❤️❤️
Good morning I finished getting my coffee, sat down and you had posted a video! Thanks! ☕️
Great timing 😁🙏🏼
Great advice - I’ll definitely give it a go, thanks for sharing!
Happy you found it useful 😁🙏🏼 let me know how it went!
I would not have even noticed those saturated areas if you hadn't pointed them out. Great tip!
So happy I could help 😁🙏🏼
Often it takes that once or twice - and then you notice it yourself!
And if you can see it, you can paint it 🎨
Happy New Year you have once again got to the heart of something like saturation and brought your wonderful joyful energy to watercolour thanks🎉🎉
Thank you so much Linda ☺️🙏🏼
Looks fun enough to give it a go.😊 thanks Liron and a very Happy New Year to you and family.😊
Thank you my friend 😊🙏🏼 Wishing you a wonderful 2025 🥳
Also, if this specific subject is challenging, you can zoom in on just a single bulb and paint it larger. You will see all the nuances more easily!
This one is a light-bulb moment maker! Happy New Year and thanks!
Thank you so much 😁😁 Happy 2025 🙏🏼🥳
Your mixing ability is perfect! 🎉 The work with the green transition at the beginning is lovely.
Thank you so much 😊
A. Great lesson Liron
I love these powerful videos Liron !!! That ball is a prickly pear cactus fruit .
😁
Great, important demo! Thanks, Liron!
Happy you enjoyed it! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks Liron! What a fascinating lesson! 🙌🏻
So happy to hear 😁 Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wonderful points that are so easy to forget. Also, the top of the cactus could be clean green gold. Great video.
Indeed it could! Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼
You are amazing!!❤
☺️🙏🏼
I really needed to have this lesson! Thank you
Nice demo! I was looking at some Mary Cassat paintings at a museum recently and I noticed that she would have little bits of pure color here and there. Really added a lot of life to the paintings.
Indeed! Something even BIG areas of pure color 😁 I love her work

Thanks for this. I am going to incorporate this concept into my paintings.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏼Happy you found it useful
This is so cool, thanks Liron!
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼😊
What was that square wash brush? I really like that. That green paint too, very beautiful and vibrant.
Thank you so much 😊 For the greens it was Hansa Yellow Light (PY3) and Phthalo Blue (Red Shade) - PB 15 - both Daniel Smith! When mixed cleanly they can make a really strong green. Even the yellow almost on its own can feel a little green.

@LironYan cool thanks! I should've known it was Daniel Smith watercolors. I'll check out that brush!
Another stellar vid from my favourite watercolourist. Can we have an update on how the bottles are going? I just know it’s going to be amazing.
Super helpful thanks!

What kind of yellow is that? Almost look like a Highlighter green😮

Thank you so much Nancy 😊🙏🏼
Sharing is a HUGE help for the videos, much much appreciated. And wishing you a fantastic 2025 🥳
💥👌👍
It’s a prickly pear cactus with fruit and it is eatable and delicious
bulb=prickley pear
Yeah, of course the moment I finish recording I think to myself “it’s called a prickly pear or something, right?” 😂

My sister calls them "😀Nature's Legos" OWWWWW!!!!
@ 😂
Haha should have just called these ouchies! 😂 Have a wonderful 2025 my friend ☺️🙏🏼🙏🏼
Your thumbnail image is AI, the hand has 6 fingers
Haha I am A/B testing different thumbnails & using a UA-cam plugin of sorts 😂 Funny enough - the most successful one is the one I took…

its ok considering he gives us so much useful art content and education for free 🙏

Yes I think I reached into the wrong well on my bucket 😂 One of them was clean.
But it did lighten it up ever so slightly
"Sorry". "No offense" and there are so many of you out there!
