"if you can lay your front foot on the board and then slowly release it, we can develop a lot of feel for our flick". That's nice, dude. I'm going to try that.
let me know how it goes i think it's legit

Such a good point at the end - what feels natural isn’t always what’s the best technique

You're like the Bob Ross of skateboarding. You talk all slow and relaxed, and make skateboarding feel so accesible🤣

I’ve always struggled with missing the flick. That tip on the direction of the flick might actually help me. Cheers!
And mess with it more than just wash at it says in the video. Even mess with the height that you kick your front foot to, a lot of people kick at the ground too much but kick a little more into the air. Up for lack of better words

I know exactly what you mean about flipping the board too fast and having it bounce off your foot. It’s so frustrating for me because flipping the board fast feels cool and it seems like I did everything right only to stumble at the finish. Great advice Mitchie you’re the goat

every other skate tutorial: “just pop it, make sure to catch it, then roll away, that’s it” 😂
Also note where your front foot landed on that second one where you were more deliberate. Much more stable placement. No adjustment needed for the next trick.
It makes such a big difference to be deliberate early on in the trick. You’re right it even helps the next tricks
Great video. Never thought about having my front foot square with the board. Also wanted to add, the position of the back foot is also key because the ball of the back foot needs to be in the middle or toes near the top edge like a tre flip position. You get a better pop and can flick it faster and harder with your back foot that way.
It's blew my mind too when I first saw Nyjah do it. Been messing with the idea ever since
the back foot position is such an unknown secret i cant believe it and it works great
I gave this a try today and if I’m understanding it correctly, it helped a lot! Seems to give a lot more power and snap to the pop. I shifted my back foot more towards the edge of the tail and the toeside and hung a bit of my toes off so it felt like I was grabbing the edge like a tre.
nice. Id be careful actually hanging it off the edge at that will want to start rotating your board backside like a tre flip. but otherwise it sounds like absolutely great and im happy it's helping!@@jeffli480
@@jeffli480 That's great to hear Jeff. I got info from Braille skateboardings kickflip video. When you put your toes near the edge it makes you pop the board unevenly resulting in more board surface tension for your front foot to flick against, resulting in a faster kickflip. Thats why having your toes near the bottom edge of the tail doesn't work (For me at least)
Dude, you are just great. Thanks sharing your knowledge.
Thank you!

the last position/flick you showed is identical to my current kickflips. and while i have nice kickflips, when i skate gaps/drops or have lots of speed, my flick happens too quick for my feet to do anything reliably. gonna try this in the spring once the snow is gone. i’ve been trying to flatten my foot a bit more, but i should probably reevaluate my entire flicking motion too
speed, gaps, and drops will probably affect fear more than anything. it will feel like everything is in slow motion because of the adrenaline so make sure that when youre sgoing fast or down things you take that extra moment to really lock in that flick in the air
Not only does he explained everything in detail ,but it makes perfect sence , way back when sk8 ,i learned flips and they where low ,flick to side almost downward ,then started practicing over curbs, a board ,then anything i could ollie try to flip ,thats when i realized what he just explained flick as far up that nose as you can, after that all the others flip tricks came more natural

I really struggled with the flick slow-down for the longest time. I'd always mob out my kickflips as a result. What fixed it for me was slowing down my pop. Once I learned to pop slower but more efficiently, I could suddenly go into "bullet time" with my flicks. The human body finds weird ways to equilibrate itself.
I needed this cause my flips have always sucked
hows it coming along now?

i don’t understand the across the nose flick, do you mean towards toe side like heel flip? or across the nose like foot farther toward toe side and across to heel side
Noble is a sic park. 🤘🤘
I cant remember which skater that does a ollie late kickflip. like ollieing up over an obstacle then flicks it.
how can I fix if my back foot doesn't want to do ollie motion but it kicks out too?
i can do the kickflip but i only land on my back foot and my front foot goes off the board, any assistance please😞😞😔
Dude... you just fixed my kickflips.
I love your f*cking face.
hahah thanks man
@@SKATEiQ No worries mate.
after watching this i actually landed my first hospital flip on accident then couldnt even get close to landing it again😂
Hahahah
Crazy to see Mitchie Brusco skating my local park
Where is it? Somewhere in oz. Not in Western Australia as he isn't sweating 😀
Noble is sick!
Now it make sense to why Rayssa Leal foot position for her kickflips be on the board, in almost what I see as a heelflip position 😮
I havent seen that! i gotta check it out
Nah the flatspot is crazy
I think this is only helpful if you can already land kickflip. For ppl who never landed a single kick flip it’s more about keeping your board under you and body position
pls pls pls give me some hardflip tips! pls, i can do kickflip and frontside flip, but i cant hardflip..
Can you do a kickflip tutorial? Im new 2months skating thank youuuuuu
Yes were uploading it to patreon RIGHT NOW
could you do one of these on heelflips pls, I would love to know how different techniques can effect your heel flip, I've been working on mine for a while, I just learned heelfip fs 5050s regular and fakie, and heelflip fs tails, just working on perfecting my flick on heelflip variations, keep up the good work, what you do is awesome!
I agree! would love to see this. I really think I've found my sweet spot when I started trying to Olie North. Meaning my foot was going more straight ahead then to the side, and I think I also slowed down the time of when I wanted to flick (maybe naturally, because my foot had to travel further to the end of the tail rather than the side of the board).
It sounds like you’ve figured out heelfips more than me mate! That’s sick! Yes we can do some things on heel flips but it won’t be for a little while. But its on the list!
@@danhallatt4954this is right on point 100%
What advice do you have for people who mob their kickflips? I have never been able to flick properly for some reason.
I dont know what you mean by mob kickflips.. im sorry.
@@SKATEiQ So your ankle doesn't make the flick motion, and your foot stays pointing downwards. Think how Gonz does his kickflips.
@@SKATEiQ like a rocket kickflip
oh. i think that's probably the direction youre moving your front foot. i wouldnt worry about rolling it at first, think about kicking your front foot up off through the nose out above the board in a way@@djmon1987
@@LoLoBits Not necessarily. Mine even out, I just don't have the flicking technique.

I keep my front foot behind the bolts, but I see many pros keep their front foot on the front bolts, I tried it and it messes up my timing. I still don't have kickflip every try 🥲
