Is this the best skatepark in Sydney at the moment?
Yeah i think so. It looks SLS inspired. Amazing!
Engadine's new one is fire
the landings being synced up with the music doesn't go unnoticed. nice touch
Haha thanks dude!
I grew up in Miranda and would have killed to have this at the time! The closest parks we had were Engadine or Menai. Looks so sick!
Yeah dude, these would have been an amazing park to grow up at for sure! Such a good local park 👌🏼
The skatepark looks amazing! 👍
It's actually so good!
Damn that is sooooo sick hope they can open parks like that in qld. Awesome vid man 🔥
Hopefully dude! I think Pizzey Park is all they really have going up there right?
That park looks insane !
It's pretty damn fun!
That’s my local it so the ramps are perfect. The rails are so good for scooters and skateboards. I’ve probably seen about 14 professional BMX riders in the bowl and the mega bowl is 14 foot the biggest one in New South Wales right now. I was on nine news the other night because the guy that came up with the idea of the park came and got the videos of me and my mates
Yeah dude, that bowl is massive! I think it actually is the biggest in NSW 🤔
That’s sick man, your lucky to have this as your local 🙌🏻
love them 4 year olds on 3 wheeled shooters, smart parents
fr, you'd think that once the serious skaters appeared that the mums would take the children away from the skate park
This is my favourite Skatepark to go to, so many different obstacles to choose from, only problem is that it can get pretty crowded and also the kid on the scooter who you almost hit with your skateboard is my friend.
This park is so damn good dude!
Yeah this place gets pretty dangerous when it’s busy lol
Large bowl is great too, similar i think in design to the old Bucky Lasek Backyard Bowl and can also be skated as a Vert ramp.
Oh sick! I definitely need to spend some time on learning how to skate transition more lol
Sounds good, with all the new parks opening, looking forward to more of your reviews!
Thanks dude, thanks so much for watching and commenting 🙏🏼
People who builds this skatepark’s in Australia really know how to do it 💯🔥
We have some great skateparks when the council hire's the right people to design and build them 🙌🏼
Wow this looks amazing
So good!
I live nearby but I think I’ll wait a couple of months before I skate it, and enjoy an empty greenhills!
That's true! Everyone will be at this park so Green Hills will be empty 👌🏼
Damn! What skateparks are you going to if this one is average? lol @DL-pk1fw
Damn! No wonder this park doesn't do it for you lol @DL-pk1fw
Super hyped with it , was travelling like an hour on train to get to city but finally have a good park like 20 minutes away
Hell yeah, you'll love having this park closer then!
I wish we had stuff like these in Boston 😂❤
Me too😂
Yeah we are getting really spoilt over here lol
@@LeonPaxton I'm glad tho homie. We just got a dope new park here in southern New Hampshire with a second bigger new park just a town over! As a former shop owner I heard so many people wishing for new parks so I'ma glad those wishes are coming true worldwide
That's sick man! If not though I'm sure there's heaps of sick street spots out that way right?
@@LeonPaxton yeah! The entire University of New Hampshire is like all street spots! It's just cold rn😂 -1.11°C
Wtf this park looks so good😍 lines for days🔥
This is a dream park! Mellow!
It's actually so good!
Interesting. seems like a mix of traditional skateparks. a little olympic. and it also feels like you're organically skating street. pretty cool once I examine it
Yeah it's definitely pretty interesting!
Got to start giving parts of the park nicknames. To give the place some character.
Like the red metal structures that look like magnets, so they're called, "The Magnets", which I expect over time will be shortened to, "the mags", "mags", or "maggies".
I also noticed another metal structure that could be an "S", on it's side on but could also be a, "U", and an, "N", joined together, so that becomes the "U-ens", and by extension becomes the name of the half pipe in front. EG: "I'm going to practice grinding U-ens"
The 9 stairs can be, "the cascade", and the 6 stairs, "The little cascade" and the larger steps next to the 9 stairs can be, "the giant's staircase" or, "giant's" for short.
The other metal structure near the bowls that looks like two L's welded together look like the metal corner protectors of old fashioned suitcases, so that structure can be, "The suitcase", or, "the corner", or what was always on corners but a shop, so more obscurely could be called, the "shops". So if you want to skate the bowls you say, "I'm going to the big/little suitcase/corner/shops", and by extension people know which bowl you'll be skating.
Any round rails could be called, "pipelines" 1,2,3 etc because the rails were probably meant to be water pipes and any square rail can be called, "sections", 1,2,3 etc. Why sections? Because the technical name for square tubing is, "Square Hollow Section", or, abbreviated to, "SHS"
...and the pyramid can be ironically called, "Khufu". Pronounced, "Coo Foo". Which is the name of the largest pyramid in Egypt....gives the young ones a history lesson as well.
Then when you crash on the pyramid, you've done a SNUFU. So when limping back to your mates after taking a fall on the pyramid and they're asking what happened, you can say, "I had a SNUFU on Khufu", or more politely, "I got Khufued", which is probably preferable as you always want to keep your language G rated at the skate park because there's young kids around.
tf you yapping about, I didn't ask for an essay lil bro
That park looks so fun.
It is man, definitely recommend checking it out!
this park reminds me of one you'd see in ea SKATE
That's actually so true!
I'm so jealous. We need something like this in SA lol
SA still have some sick parks though right? The one that opened last year looks sick!
@LeonPaxton haha yeah in Adelaide but the smaller SA regions have fuck all if I'm being honest. You're lucky bro! I'm just jealous lol
its so sick with all the little tykes out having a crack too haha
Not trying to be mean, but this is my opinion of the king rail I reckon it is better being a square rail than circle
Looks pretty awesome
It’s so sick!
Mate you got the costing for the skatepark wrong. Stage one is being funded by a state government grant of $4.75 million, from the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program, and $370,000 from the council. Ms Petinos said the state government would provide further funding of nearly $3 million for stage two of the Seymour Shaw Park masterplan for new sports fields and amenities.
Oh damn! That's the info I got from the articles that I found. Where did you get that information from?
From the council website @@LeonPaxton www.sutherlandshire.nsw.gov.au/your-council/news-and-publications/council-news/first-sod-turned-in-major-overhaul-of-mirandas-seymour-shaw-park#:~:text=The%20project%20has%20been%20made,stage%20one%20of%20the%20project.
Thanks dude! @@trentmissingham
Park is sick🤙
So sick!
Please tell me that someone saw the old man watching them at 3:00 it’s actually so wholesome 😭😭😭
He didn't seem very impressed lol
That place looks sick.
It is man!
Never have I ever skated a park this nice. I'm 29 and probably never will either. I've skates some nice parks but the flow and street like features look incredible
Oh dude, it's amazing! This is what happens when the right people design and build a skatepark 🙌🏼
@DL-pk1fw huh?
Perfect park fr
I live the big bowl it’s so fun!
It's too big for me 😅
Sick park 🔥
So sick!
Man that looks good..
It really is!
we got john hill at home
What do you film with? Quality is stunning
I just actually got the new iPhone 15 and have been filming with that dude 👌🏽
That park is incredible looking. It looks like it has literally everything from a beginner to a pro
Yeah it’s sick man! Something for all levels of skating for sure 👌🏽
The choices we now have in Sydney are so so sick.
We are actually so spoilt and there's 2 new parks being built at the moment too lol
Absolutely crazy in comparison to anything in Ireland
Are there any good street spots out your way at least? lol @@louismcg7601
@@LeonPaxton We have a good few, Dublin is quite an old city so we've a lot of crust. But newer spots are popping up now and then due to a lot of foreign investment from big businesses
3:00 older dude wishes he was 20 years younger too enjoy the new park
Man i really need to get into building parks, 7.5 million is insane. Governments have no idea exactly where their money goes. You can have multi million dollar mansions for that, and they didnt even need to pay for the land.
what size do you ride? sick vid man, dope park aswell
I’m riding a 9.5” Heroin egg at the moment dude!
Someone in the municipality will get extra presents this Christmas; no way that costs 7.5 millions, what a rip off. Imagine that they needed to buy the land.
It all adds up man, from the design and landscaping to the lights and materials used. Plus the big playground right next to it lol
Glad I’m 3 blocks away
So lucky!
Can you explain to the Australian people why this cost 7.5 million. Would love too know
Thanks for the review. And you don't need to pinch 50-50s bro.
No problem dude!
I can only cross lock my 50's, it's so scary for me on a square rail lol
@@LeonPaxton Fair enough. I don't know if you do this already or not (I'm a newbie to your channel) but maybe you could do videos on the news and progress of upcoming skateparks also. I would like to know what is happening with Engadine skatepark in particular (which is like 20 mins or less south of Miranda if you don't know).
That's a good idea dude! I always try and do my research and can never really find much until the park is open but maybe I can get an inside guy that can update me on the upcoming parks and developments 🤔
@@LeonPaxton You could look at websites of businesses that make skateparks and perhaps community and council websites for news and progress.
Where is this??
Seymour Shaw Park in Miranda 🙌🏼
Hmm that must be residential right across the road there though, eh? They must hate the noise lol
I read a lot of comments about this park from the local residents not being happy about it 😂
@@LeonPaxton Classic shire, residents would complain if someone sneezed too loud around here 🤣
Good to see some of those many millions get spent on actual improvements to cities
Lots of small children, have the same issue at our park - i don't mind it that much, but it's pretty dangerous for those kids and the parents don't realize that a skatepark is for skateboarding. I'm not hockey'ing on a soccer field right? I saw a little geezer get rocked by a board in the face (unintentionally) yet te parent went completely crazy although the kid was clearly in the way not properly looking. I'm not sure how to fix this issue
Oh dude, this is going to be a problem until the end of time 😅
Where has peoples imagination gone ?
build something unique for 7.5 mill
Same old ledge same ol same ol
Are those Aces or just look like Aces
These are Slappy Trucks dude, so basically modelled after Indy's & Aces lol
@@LeonPaxton you gonna make a video on your channel when you're done skating them? Would love to see a fully skated review on em
I've got some Ace trucks ready to set up and skate so after that I might do a comparison video of how Slappy's are compared to Ace's but I'm really loving the Slappy's at the moment!
You can tell it’s new, no graffiti.
That's true lol
Wood chips 😩 Why????
👍
So Chad Ford's no longer the go-to guy for skatepark design?
I don't know who that is 😅
get rid of the bowls and that whole top section and it wouldve been 6 million cheaper and funner
They spend a lot of money on the landscaping and play grounds as well lol
It still doesn’t have a basic ledge…. And how does that add up to 7. 5 million? That’s crazy…
Theres 3 different flat ledges there that are good to skate 👌🏼
Yeah I think land, materials and building costs just keep going up these days!
so jealous
Yeah dude, we're so spoilt in Sydney lol
7.5M is so cap on the council/governments behalf. you could build a mansion indoor park with that kind of money
Anybody else getting ‘50s American diner vibes??
I can see that! With the big red obstacle everywhere lol
@@LeonPaxton “Chrome. Chrome everywhere…” :P
Crazy what kids today have, would have killed for this park when i was a gromit 😂
Yeah dude, my local park growing up was a bmx park 😂
I hate that they adopted the training facility look
just make it out of concrete would have probly been half the price
accepting the fact tassie will never ever see a park like this
Is there a big skate scene down there?
damn they wasted that money
Guess the lands expensive, features aren't big enough. Waste of money, even the youth that this build is aimed at
They got rid of a skatepark near me and replaced it with basketball courts. The skatepark was attracting criminal activity, good riddance to it.
cant have a sport which encourages middle class shops and businesses. oh yea and prepare for airless basketballs the next step in you will own nothing. a loving liberal transition
7.5 million...lol...boring...no thought or flow...designed by chumps...another boring asf park...😂😂😂😂
You're a hard person to please 😂
@@LeonPaxton bra....actually get people who are good at riding parks to design them...u could even copy other parks that are gnarly asf....hmmm its not rocket science...u got gipped..
Booo lame asf park...
Thanks for making these skatepark review videos! They're really helpful and a joy to watch. 🛹👍💜
No problem, thanks so much for watching 🙏🏽
new hang out spot for the local junkies basically
Hopefully not! There was actually 1 sketchy character hanging around though 😂
