I got mine back in March for $1600 from an older lady. It was originally on sale for $2800 but the car hadn’t sold in a week so she drop it down to $2000. I took my cousin who is a mechanic and he managed to get her to sell it for $1600 since it needed need tires, motor mounts, and the lower ball joints. The car only had 14100 miles on it so it still feels good. Fast forward to the present day and I’ve done a lot of maintenance to it, wheels, fluids, etc. I’ve been wanting to driving on the semi manual for a while but man I just can’t, I don’t know how to drive stick but after I read the manual I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I was doing. My problem is that when I down shift I loose a lot of power it’s like my engine engages engine braking and I hear a reving like sound coming from it. I shift up at 3500 and I try to down shift at 2000 rpm if anyone reading this can give me a couple tips I would appreciate it. Also anyone know if these transmissions have a shifting solenoid? After reading about some k20s I read that some have it and if the little filter screens are dirty it can make some problems when shifting.
Also, you are right about springs and coil overs. But the suspension you feel is 16 years old. I did a suspension refresh on my base and it gave a lot better road feel and handled bumps a bit better despite stiffening up the car. As you mentioned, it's like right between comfortable and sporty. Putting some newer parts on it will make it more sporty.
iVtec turns on at 2200 RPM in the base model what you're feeling at higher RPM is the intake runner flaps opening to let air straight into the engine at low speed and low load the runner flaps will be closed for fuel economy and it will run through the plastic intake AKA the runners
I really don’t like hondas however i’m considering buying an rsx as my first car i currently drive a toyota matrix but it belongs to my sister and i am wondering if this would be a good first car
I just got a base auto rsx three weeks ago and im in love with it. super slow but it handles extremely well for a fwd car. Also its much bigger on the inside and in the trunk then it looks like. Genuinely a perfect car
The only problems they have are motor mounts and power steering hose. Other than that it’s a solid car. Try and go for the 05-06 models those look cleaner.
Hi Kevin, Just got an 04 RSX auto with very low miles. What exactly would you recommend I do for the suspension? Please keep in mind, I just like to cruise in it, not race it. I wouldn't mind improving the handling at all, I just don't want to feel every bump or pothole on the road. Thanks!
Lmfao you’re not at “Vtec baby” that motor is the K20A3 it doesn’t have the Vtec crossover that you’re speaking about.. just an FYI. But base crew checking in 🤙 I have a 2003 manual converted to 06 with a bunch of Aspec and Type R goodies. K24 swap coming soon as well 👌
@@Bootyeheg it depends on your level of mechanical ability. Have you ever done it in a car before? You can find most of the parts you’d need at a junk yard or on a forum. I HIGHLY recommend you check out ClubRSX if you aren’t on there already. There’s a lot of great information, DIYs, and parts for sale. Deff check it out 🤙
Base model boys. Still a fun car/starter car imo. obv Type S is faster but you'll be alright if you can't afford a S
For real. Type S at 8k rpm is nutty!
I own a boosted 8th gen si. For my high rev there bough a base RSX for mileage
Love my base , quick but not fast . Still beat most grocery getters
