Intro was priceless! I daily my RSX and it's the first car I've gotten heavily into modding beyond the basics, the aftermarket support is endless, but some of these 20 y.o. OEM parts are getting out of hand in price.
@sum-dood Oh, I know. Used to have a 90 EF Si, I was the 2nd owner. As well as 95 Del Sol Si, and 04 Accord coupe with k24 manual. Riding in a gutted CRX Si with a B series was one of the greatest Honda experiences I had though.
If you plan on tracking your RSX/DC5 follow this kinda simple list. There is a lot of misinformation about this chassis. If I was wanting to join the honda bois and I couldn’t afford an NSX or S2000 the RSX would be my choice. 1. Proper coils(you must run a stiffer rear spring than the front, I found that 10k/16k works best for while still being comfortable to drive on the street. 2.LSD(cheapest way is to swap an 8th gen Si factory LSD into it)chuck a lightweight flywheel and a upgraded clutch while at it. Make sure to loctite the flywheel bolts. 3. Rear sway bar(I run the progress rear 24mm sway bar because it fits like an OEM one and clears any catback exhaust) 4.rear camber arm(you will need this, I would recommend you don’t lower the car more than 2.3 inches from stock height. Shit gets complicated if you go more than 2.3) 5.SHG steering rack slider(because of the rack design this OEM piece wears fast and can lead to a dead feel when the steering is on center) 6.HONed developments rack raiser, inner tie rods and STOCK style outers(this is very a controversial topic but keeping in mind if you do go around 2.3inch low this will significantly help with the now even more worst than stock bump steer because the car is now lowered. This mod helps to dial back some of that gained bumpsteer to return to a OEM like feel). Ideally you want the angle of the tie rods to be close to OEM as Honda intended. 7.race mounts(HASPORT etc, i used to run hasport 62a on the street and man did it vibrate everything. For a more of a track car I would go hasport. If you track your car 2-3 times a year I would do vibra-nitics. I haven’t tried those yet but based of the community of knowledgeable people that’s the way to go if the car is more of a street car) 8. at this point you will find yourself wanting more power. I do TUNED FBO(kpro if 02-04, Ktuner if 05-06). The world is your oyster when it comes to FBO k20 in a type S. 9. After more power you want better braking, I run the DC5creations BBK it works phenomenally well on my type S it’s basically the same size caliper as the type R. It doesn’t throw off brake balance, matched up with good high temp fluid, steel lines, street/track pad and good SLOTTED rotors that’s basically all you brakes you will need on this car. 10. At this point you will be going really fast. It’s now time to sort out the old crusty bushings. I would recommend you go with hardrace hardened bushing kit. Perfect balance between performance and comfort. Replace those ball joints with the roll center correction ball joints while your there. I didn’t list the obvious stuff like. Nice steering wheels, short shifter, car back exhaust, bucket seat, good alignment, good tires, track style wheels, maintenance, braces etc. reason being it’s not specific to the RSX, I would assume everyone does those things as soon as they get any car pretty much. If you really wanna get competitive in this car, the suspension will be your biggest issue once again. These cars love to have caster adjustments in the front. If you run the PCI top hats you will need to cut the strut towers to make them fit(I am not willing to do that because I am happy with my car being decently fast. I don’t wanna cut my car. After the new suspension adjustments it’s time to cut some weight and add aero, do whatever you like with these too. Also FWD cars in general likes with you run a reverse stagger set up(this is how the fastest guys in Japan set up is) I would recommend 255/40R17(F)and 235/40R17(R) These cars so so reliable, practical and a great foundation to do whatever you want with them. However they get a bad rep with it comes to tracking them and the misinformation is almost as toxic as the SW20 MR-2’s(ironically I own one of these also😂)get with the whole snap over steer.if you own one of these follow these mods and you will have a blast on track and even surprise a few people. My advice is buy once cry once, buy the best parts you can get. This is coming from a owner who has owned 5 of them so far and I’ve tracked my 5th one 7 times this year as a newbie. I’ve reached out to so many experienced RSX track guys and they have all said the same thing. Keep it simple, have fun. DO NOT: slam the car and expect it to handle like a DC2 on steroids. Don’t get a bigger front sway bar, this actually makes the car understeer a lot when your pushing is hard(if your the mod list is similar to this or even more wilder). People actually run a smaller front sway bar off an EM2 civic this also helps with clearing a bigger header(especially the skunk2 header. Best off the shelf mass produced header in my opinion). If anyone feels like they wanna know more you can follow me on IG @brandon_persaud63.
What kind of hate do they get? Like living in the shadow on the Integra because everyone says the mcpherson struts suck? I love my Type S. I'm running a kfrank with suspension. Fucking rocks it@@brandon_buildsDIY
I have been modding Honda’s since 2003 and currently drive a 2018 Type R. I got my son a 2006 Type S as his first car for his 16th birthday this year. Came with 250k mi. on it so we pulled the engine and did a fresh rebuild. He loves it.
Here’s what I’ve learned from the past few months of RSX ownership: Check your tail light gaskets, that’s where the water comes from. When you lower it more than 1.5”, you need either 1. Extended tie rod ends 2. Inverted tie rods ($300+) or camber kit to bring tie rod mounting points in. Also a good idea when lowering: SHG steering slider($70), new tie rods inner and outer, extended ball joints(roll center correction) and alignment. Hondata flash tune is a big upgrade I hear. Mine came with it and I can’t imagine living without it. A good cheap upgrade is shifter bushings and detent springs. Makes shifting feel awesome. (Bonus points for a nice clean weighted shift knob). True cold air intake and full exhaust is awesome, but these cars will drone at 70-80mph on highway. It’s just the Honda way.
@@th3chugga the k20a2 is very low on torque. The factory tune doesn’t give much timing or whatever it needs down low to allow for proper torque to build. The hondata tune is a night and day difference they say. Hondas are known for all top end and no torque haha. So it pulls hard even before vtec. And vtec is engaged at 5200 instead of 5500(?). It also revs to 8500rpm instead of 8000.

I didn't realize how much potential the car had at that time but i knew it was what i wanted ( 6 spd, okay on gas, hatchback). I love this car and can't imagine selling it . This video made me so happy I cried a little. I'm so blessed to finally have one. Been almost 1yr of ownership and I have wanted one since NFSU1 came out. Also, the a2 has 3 lobe vtec on both sides, the a3 has 2 lobe on only one side
Absolutely love my 2003 RSX type S. 95% stock. Aftermarket wheels, suspension and brembo brakes all around. Worn out drivers seat, steering, and the black coating is coming off the window belt trim. All normal stuff for a 20 year old car with 150,000 daily driver miles.
😆 great video Alex, love the energy! I have a 2006 RSX Type S and have owned it for 13 years. Still love it just as much as the day I picked it up. I hope to still be hitting VTEC when I'm 80, and will most likely request that I be buried in it.
long time S2000 owner, I've had civics, integras and an RSX-S back over a decade ago. Bought another 06 RSX-S a few months ago and I forgot how great these are. no wonder the prices are the same as when I sold my last one in 2012
I've owned mines for about 8 years now. Best decision I ever made at 21 lol. At 200K miles engine died on me, but even the swap wasn't too bad. I love it so much

Deadass learned everything I have done with cars with my base model rsx and then I got a type s. You can easily take people in the corners my friend told me I went no brakes on corners he braked hard for so yes, they are pretty fun.
I've been daily driving a RSX type S since 2016 and wow this is the best car I've ever owned. Ton of fun to drive. My other car is a 2000 Camaro SS and I love both of these vehicles but the RSX is so practical and fun to drive
I bought a 2004 RSX Base auto 3 years ago, converted to a same year type s. It has a complete 2006 Type-S exhaust system, 16-in te37s, racing seats with no rear interior, I want to get a fidanza and a good clutch when it goes and I'm done, stock height and stock tires, best daily I ever owned, I turn 54 this year.
Got mine as a fixit/haveit and now I loveit from the inlaws. 223k miles and still going strong. Power steering system is a constant heart-ache, though.
I went from base RSX to a Type-s and then a 2014 mustang GT. I legitimately miss my Type-S. I am contemplating trying to find a clean one again... Its just pulling the trigger on it. Such a special car to me....
I currently have a 2003 K20a2/K24a2 Rsx Type S built high comp high revving, What I would recommend for new owners: Do what you want and have fun, such an amazing platform. Highly recommend putting better suspension and wider tires, Im still spinning at 235's on a stock K20a2. Go Full Bolt on, Headers, Intake and a Kpro. My dad bought me a Base model 270k mile Rsx when I was 15, thing was a beater, a bucket but it was mine and I loved it, it was totaled, I saved up all my money to buy a Rsx Type S for 3k, I've been working on Rsx's for around 5-6ish years, K20a3 isn't really good but they do come with Type S oil pumps so if you ever plan on going K24, swap out your oil pump, K24 oil pumps are a headache and won't let you rev as high. a full bolt on rsx should honestly be making around 210-230whp, just get quality parts and do your research.
@@jesselee4405 yup, you can go to a junk yard find a base model and open up the oil pan and you’ll see her in all her glory. But! Ep3’s dont have the prb “type s” oil pump so a quick note as well
So I used to have this EM2 that was single cam D17 but after I made an intake manifold (the stock one was plastic 😑) but that was actually a 2.1 liter d series that had the head ported polished and shaved, and it held 30 psi no problem with the stock bottom end! That is almost like the Dc5 Integra I wanted to do the taillights like it to but that car came to an end plenty of years ago! 😅
Lmao. Loved that intro. And I love my DC5. I just had my suspension upgraded/fixed/freshened up. It's so much more comfortable now, and yet the handling is still amazing. The vtec crossover sound of the k20a2 with a built head is addicting and it never gets old.
Have had mine for 20yrs can't get rid of it. Been through everything with me. I went supercharged route and it gave it the torque it needed. Also got a lot of the jdm type R parts back in the early ebay days totally changed the car and with honda reliability.
Alex, the guy who can grow a mustache by just talking about the RSX as an ideal car model to own. 😂 Glad I have mine. 😏 It’s a blessing to God, given how rare they are to be spot anywhere.
Acura RSX was my first car, unfortunately got into an accident a few years ago and I’ve missed it ever since. I think this video though made my decision on getting one again
Hey Alex nice to see the brand is growing and seems to be doing well. We I’m an old man now and remember fooling around with my 95 integra back in the day. I was thinking about getting back into the game with a new project (cause I’m bored 😂) and I like cars that aren’t too popular. I was wondering if you could do one of these vids on an infinity FX35 / 37. That seems to be a vehicle that’s been catching my eye lately. Thanks for the videos and hope you keep growing this upcoming year
I still miss my rsx to this day. I've never had another car I trusted to get dog piss beat out of it and still drive it home. She had 306k on her when I traded her off..still ran like a top.
Well, I may be picking up a steal of a Type S for ~$5000 Chassis has 236k miles, but luckily the engine and transmission were replaced recently. Hopefully my parents let me buy it. 🙏
I bought and 05 rsx type s back in 2018 for $3200 regret having to sell it due to clutch issues and needed to have a bigger vehicle but the car was still reliable even at 220,000 miles at the time
My first was car I drove was an 05 civic coupe vp that my brother gave me . Was slightly modded , exhaust, aftermarket steering wheel and strut bar. Not sure what else cause I didn't really know all that much. But man it was a blast to drive! I had so much driving that car and throwing it around corners. I bought my 03 rsx type-s jan 2020 and honestly I was actually slightly disappointed at the handling. I felt like it was noticeably more sluggish to throw in corners than my civic. my civic was like a go kart . Definitely was because of the weight difference. ~2500 civic vs ~2750 rsx . I don't have my civic anymore but man that car was a blast to drive.
@@amirparvez5415 I just was working on mine today, just some maintenance and a leaky valve stem. Got to drive it home, gosh I love driving it. Can't wait for the snow to melt to drive it more!
A 06 RSX was my first car. I loved it but it had been crashed and covered up by the previous owner. So I did r quite get the wholesome experience. It ended up costing too much over time to keep but I would like to get a clean one at some point to see how it’s supposed to feel.
I love my Rsx even though I have a base automatic it has 122k miles and its a salvage title. I can still have fun and it’s my first car, I honestly want to keep it and restore it.
Just got one wit some minor rust on the fenders but that’s it none anywhere else. For 3k with all OEM parts from the Original owner for 3k wit 130k miles.
That looks so clean. Can you give the hyundai coupe / tuskani tubiron a chance? They can look so sick found a super slick kit from jumdoo it realy looks like it has some potential
Just swap my 04 dc5 5 speed(blew timing at 231k) with a k24A RBB-2(from japan 30k miles) 5 speed brand new Mfactory LSD transmission with 9lb flywheel Greddy Type S clutch kit. Only issue is i was rush into finishing it because my daily blew up. With wrong size injectors and a 2.25 exhaust she still made 196 hp and 181 tq. With 450cc injectors and a 2.5 exhaust( like i originally wanted) she should make 225-245hp and about 191-195 tq which for a coupe gutted weighting About 2600lb even with just 196hp she definitely moves. Anyone doing this swap a LSD is a definite best mod to add while trans is out of car it is so fun and easier to control torque steer
Full body kit, proper wheels like racing hart 18', bolt on exhaust, koni yellows with springs, underglow.. full 2000s build is the only way. Or just keep your stock kit and slam on coils, will just make my build look even better!

I got an 06 RSX Base Premium. Aftermarket wheels, HKS Exhuast & K&N intake. Love it.
do they feel suffery slow?
Got mine as a fixit/haveit and now I loveit from the inlaws. 223k miles and still going strong. Power steering system is a constant heart-ache, though.
THAT INTRO WAS EPICCCCC
I went from base RSX to a Type-s and then a 2014 mustang GT. I legitimately miss my Type-S. I am contemplating trying to find a clean one again... Its just pulling the trigger on it. Such a special car to me....
I currently have a 2003 K20a2/K24a2 Rsx Type S built high comp high revving,
What I would recommend for new owners: Do what you want and have fun, such an amazing platform.
Interesting, I didn't know the A3 came with a prb oil pump. cool
@@jesselee4405 yup, you can go to a junk yard find a base model and open up the oil pan and you’ll see her in all her glory. But! Ep3’s dont have the prb “type s” oil pump so a quick note as well
This is some motivation to rebuild my RSX
The RSX is a good platform to learn what bump steer is and the importance of suspension geometry when modifying cars.
Amazing car I've had both the 02 and 06 bodies. Completely reliable up to 500 hp. Only issues are ac around 80k miles and clutch master slave
Had to run that intro back! Good to see the OG intro back. Heck yea
The RSX was my favorite car when I was a child. Still a dope car.
my grandpa owned an rsx, one of my favorite cars to sit in as a child. Now I actually own that rsx, I'm excited to mod it with him!
What supercharger did you go with
@@vilhelmstein2091 older roots style from comptech/ CT engineering, Jackson racing had a similar unit.
THIS is what I want from this channel hell yea brother
Alex, the guy who can grow a mustache by just talking about the RSX as an ideal car model to own. 😂
Glad I have mine. 😏 It’s a blessing to God, given how rare they are to be spot anywhere.
Acura RSX was my first car, unfortunately got into an accident a few years ago and I’ve missed it ever since. I think this video though made my decision on getting one again
I had a brand new type S back in 03 and I liked it. I now in 2024 own a 01 MX-5 and I have more fun!
Thanks for the videos and hope you keep growing this upcoming year
man I just got a base 02 rsx few months ago. I love it so much!
I still miss my rsx to this day. I've never had another car I trusted to get dog piss beat out of it and still drive it home. She had 306k on her when I traded her off..still ran like a top.
I miss my RSX. First car. Im going to buy another one soon.
Well, I may be picking up a steal of a Type S for ~$5000
Chassis has 236k miles, but luckily the engine and transmission were replaced recently. Hopefully my parents let me buy it. 🙏
Didn't get it, unfortunately.
I just got mine last month base moddle but amazing oem condition might be a a3 but still fun none the less a great first car
Alex, you don't miss!!! I love my DC5
I missed these videos so much , as much as I miss my old rsx 😢
wow i asked for RSX on the integra vid and he delivered!
I bought and 05 rsx type s back in 2018 for $3200 regret having to sell it due to clutch issues and needed to have a bigger vehicle but the car was still reliable even at 220,000 miles at the time
I’ve been looking into getting one for my daily and I’m definitely convinced now
I ♥️ my RSX type S. It IS iconic ✨😆
Picking us a base model today for 2000. Needs some work but I’m excited
I’m a Rsx Type S owner and love it 😍
Something about Alex's hair, combined with the way he rants into the mic just throws mad scientist vibes
Tell me why I been looking for a RSX and you upload this video🙊😏
This was a dope video hope u talk about modifying a C5/C6 Corvette, Cobalt SS, or DSM next
I’m building a base rn and it’s the best car I have ever been in.
I have a couple civic of this year range (2005) and I've been working on it since the day I bought it. Still a joy to drive at ~110 hp
Finally a update🙌 got 2 of these bad bois and wouldnt mind another
Been thinking of doing something to my Rsx. Purchased my 02 type s back in 2007 and still have it. Been sitting in storage for many years.
Ayoooooo let’s go! Acura RSX type s owner here. Let’s see if what I find matches up to “Honda guy knowledge” that I have on my own car so far.
I feel personally attacked by the grinding on Runescape bit. 😂
2006 NHBP Type S with 103K miles. Minty fresh garage queen
My cars getting some love😩
i need 1 more car to complete my dream collection. A true Honda civic FD2R. I have a 3rd Gen TL-type S, an 02 RSX, all i need is the civic.
Probably keeping my K24a Type S forever, need to get some suspension and wheels though
The official car of playing breaking Benjamin while grinding on RuneScape was too accurate 🤣😂💀
Just bought one today for $1000 can’t want to bring her up to par ❤
Great vid as always!
‘06 Type S back in 2013 for $4,000. It had some crazy engine knocking and was misfiring. I miss it to this day.
I love my Rsx even though I have a base automatic it has 122k miles and its a salvage title. I can still have fun and it’s my first car, I honestly want to keep it and restore it.
made me happy made me smile, nice video
Dude after watching this vid, I’d love to see you do one of these on the 8th Gen Civic Si!! :D
2:05 Hyped us up to show us the K20A3 LOL
God I love the dc5. Really is the last Acura Fwd sports coupe which is crazy to think about lol
I could not said it better as a owner of a dc5 !
Wow watching this video after wrecking my rsx-s just yesterday is heartbreaking
Sheesh Ryan
I can’t wait to see how modify your gr 86
Just got one wit some minor rust on the fenders but that’s it none anywhere else. For 3k with all OEM parts from the Original owner for 3k wit 130k miles.
I got a base Rsx I want a type s badly but the base is fun asf when your hitting corners
Im so excited to drive my type s 😫 i replaced the motor for another k20z1 and got a stage 2 bully clutch with lighter flywheel
love the RSX
*been looking into getting my hands one of these instead of a 370z again*
I need one of these for a daily
Hey the thumb nail is my friend Ryan
hey i was wondering if u could put an aftermarket ktuner or kpro ecu in a 5speed automatic 03 acura rsx?
how to modify a 9th gen accord (more specifically the “9.5” 16-17 maybe) would be great to see
I just got one a month ago for $3k it drives great for a daily.
With 450cc injectors and a 2.5 exhaust( like i originally wanted) she should make 225-245hp and about 191-195 tq which for a coupe gutted weighting
About 2600lb even with just 196hp she definitely moves. Anyone doing this swap a LSD is a definite best mod to add while trans is out of car it is so fun and easier to control torque steer
Where would you find a hondata flash tune in canada
Do one on the 1st gen ILX. These were available as a civic Si in a tuxedo.
How does he come up with these intros 🤣🤣 06 type s owner and man o man life with this car is amazing and truly a masterpiece
Full body kit, proper wheels like racing hart 18', bolt on exhaust, koni yellows with springs, underglow.. full 2000s build is the only way. Or just keep your stock kit and slam on coils, will just make my build look even better!
Definitely not new style wheels like kansei or god awful fifteen52
