I was very skeptical regarding any sort of polish. When my Santos suffered a nasty scratch on the bezel, I gave this method a try. Being very careful, it turned out very nice! It didn't remove it completely but then again I didn't expect it to. But after trying this it no longer has that eyesore of a nasty scratch. Thanks again!
Never use a micro fibre cloth like this. You risk inducing more scratches. Opt for a nano fibre or pure cotton - cotton makeup remover pads are in fact one of the best items for buffing the chemical off and bringing out the high polish.
thanks for this helpful video! At the end, when you "wash" the watch post-polishing, what do you exactly do? Do you submerge the watch in water? Or just wipe it with a damp cloth? Thank you for clarifying!
We use that tape in electronics engineering. It's called polyimide electrical tape, but we just call it "cap tape." Not sure if that's the trade name, or perhaps refers to capacitor, since it's used in their construction. Very handy stuff for many uses.
My Santos steel strap brushed on my metal and rubber crutches and there is some marks on it, not scratch - any tips? Happy to share a photo of it if it helps!
Did you ever create a video for removing the scratches from the Cartier Santos bracelet. I know I need a scour pad, or something that can brush, but I’m trying to figure out how to get the scratches out of the brushed bracelet without brushing the polished screws in the links. Any ideas? Do you mask your screws? If so, what do you mask them with?
Would love to know how to polish the screws in the bracelet! I have a santos and used Cape Cod to polish the bezel today and it worked wonders, but I'm not really sure how to tackle the bracelet screws. Thanks!
Goeie video!
Good video, but I'll never understand why people polish their watches all the time... Just keep it in its original factory state and perhaps polish before you sell or let the buyer decide.
You can't understand why people like their belongings to look like new? Especially jewelry and watches? If someone keyed up your new Mercedes would you have it repaired or just drive around like that until you sold it? SMH
@@jasonm.8749 If the mercedes had a unique and irreplaceable texture that can't be replaced once the scratch is removed I'm sure you'd reconsider. It's the same with the santos
@@TheDavydan I wasn't even talking to you. I replied to the guy who has an issue with people polishing their watches when they get scratched to make them look new.

Can’t you just unscrew the crown? Is it hard to do?

Assuming you have a waterproof watch, I just wash it under a running tap with some dish soap.
Thank you so much for your video, I have been able to remove a very annoying scratch from my watch thanks to you 🎉😊

Can you please show how to do the brush steel on the bracelet!!! Please and thank you
Will do!
Great to know I wish my watch was a Cartier but it worked just as well on my beautiful Alpina. Thank you.

Do you mean marks on the rubber parts?
@@F4stFr3ddy I mean the rubber part of my crutches rubbed on the steel strap of the watch
Have you tried using some isopropyl alcohol on a cloth to rub it off the steel strap?
Eh I kind of like mines scratched up, why do all of this when it just scratches up instantly from breathing anyways?
scratches, dings, etc. adds character of the watch

Never got to making that video, I have one coming up on a datejust though. You can use polyimide tape to mask anything.
@@F4stFr3ddy Bro, how do you fix single tiny scratches on Cartiers' brushed surfaces?

Awesome. The crews are a lot hard to polish as you will need to tape off the rest of the bracelet. I personally would leave the screws untouched.
is polish also remove scratch for gold bezel santos one? I am afraid gold bezel change a color...?😢

SO WHAT TOOK THE SCRATCHES OFF? TAPE? RAG? WHAT, VERY CONFUSING PLUS WE COULDNT SEE THE SCRATCHES.
The “rag” is cape cod and is a polishing material. That took the scratches off.
Hello..is that a Medium Santos?
Yes it is! The larger one has a date.
😵💫
This Watch is just a Scratch Magnet... sadly bc i always wanted one bc its a beauty but its a turn off for me idk...

To each their own. Personally, I polish my watches once a year for the annoying scratches as keeping it in mint condition is too much of a hassle.
@@F4stFr3ddy For the santos it ruins the original brushed metal style which cannot be replicated once polished! This lowers the value of the watch
