I have a hard time understand people that do not think the 10-30% less selling price doesn’t matter and the people that think they can ride this bike to it limits. Although it’s not their fault. They just listened to some guy tell them that the bike was for a beginner or someone just starting out, also for years they have been subliminally been sold by the media into what will make them faster, because selling bikes and parts is after all the media’s job. Pull out a stop watch and get on a stock RMZ and then the most blinged winner of the next shootout. You will be just as fast on the RMZ. That is unless you are a top pro and in that case you are not buying your own bikes.

@C.Nash not to you disillusion you but the job of the media is only entertainment and to sell products, what they say has little to do with reality. These are the same people that will tell you what a difference the new xwz gizmo will have on your bike and how you have to have it. Yet if you pull out a stop watch you will find it will make zero difference on your lap time. Most people have absolutely no ideas what they are faster on yet virtually everyone in the industry knows that that average rider can only use above 30 hp effectively and would have faster on a average 250 than any 450. I was a multi line dealer most of my life and I promise you I would never tell anyone that until I left the industry completely in 2015. There is zero difference in lap times for most riders on a 20 year old any brand bike and a new one if the old bike is fresh.

How I loved reading " The Great Big Yellow Dirt Bike Magazine " in the 70's.. I'd cut out the pics and paper my wall with them. The articles made me laugh far more than they should have but there was some creative writing going on in those days... an example.. " the multi storied tail light of the MT 125 is ideally suited to sudden death from a flying multi buckled boot "... and I had an MT 125. I never forgave you guys for that " sadly lacking in power " comment, even though it was true. I fixed that with a CR 125 barrel and piston. It's nice to watch your videos even though I no longer ride.Nostalgia doesn't kill.... but it can make you weep.

Last year I couldn't find any of the 300 two strokes I wanted, my wife said, try the Suzuki (we'd watched some privateers dump stuff into them and really appear to like them) they're so much cheaper what can you lose? She was right, I put a magura hydraulic clutch on mine, o-ring chain and sprocket (up one tooth in the rear with one of those fancy sprockets), yoshimura exhaust the titanium (I just like the way it looks), it is as though you go back in time to the early 2000's and how a 450 performed. I'm older, over 50 and I just love it, other than kicking it but I won't get rid of it till I can't kick it anymore. The thing is just stupid fun in corners, just stupid fun. If you rode on tracks and you like sweeping corners or just pointing the front end somewhere, wow is it fun.
The oil changes are not that bad, the worst part is ordering gaskets cause everyone sends you the pre 18 stuff, but you can't mess that up they will not remotely line up. Doesn't burn oil, starts in one kick if warm and you turned it off. If you flame it out, three kicks, always. It isn't hard to kick either, though I am one of those guys who hit the gym a long time, there isn't a compression lever dance I mean. Try it out, save some money for gear AND upgrades, you will definitely have people come and ask questions when you ride it. "I've heard that you can really dial these things in and they're not much money, I should try it out." Hear that a lot.
The other bikes that were on my radar were, 450x and 450rx, not gonna lie, thinking about buying one of them next year but I just bought a beta 300 rr re for tight stuff so dunno.

What's the percentage of people that buy a dirt bike and leave stock compared to those who modify it to their riding style, skill level and taste? I'm willing to bet it's a single digit percent who leave it stock the life of the bike. Imo the first round of mods to any bike in the first 15 hours and me personally, in no particular order... suspension, grips, exhaust, graphics, tires. After that chain and sprockets, foot pegs, seat cover, levers and controls, clutch. Then brakes, engine mods, bars and mounts, and the list goes on. Picking up one of these for less money and modding it as opposed to buying a higher priced bike AND modding it just doesn't make a lot of sense. This is just my opinion

Funny thing is even from years past set up right the Yamaha corners very well. I still have a 2016 yz450 you can point it wherever you want to go and it will.
