Two minor corrections/addendums: The book animation thing isn't done with left bumper, it's whatever your "Run" button is, which is actually R1. The Insect Glaives can cling to walls that you'd normally be able to climb (like with vines) by pole vaulting into them (not the air dash). You can then jump up the wall with your glaive, which is faster than using your grappling hook if you have white essence buff.
If you jump from a high place and hit the attack button, you cancel the landing animation and opening the book cancels the animation of sheathing the weapom. If you use the 'Igni Sign Gesture' on the tar puddles in Rathian's nest in Wildspire Waste you light them. You can use 'Capture Net' to catch insects like Bitterbug, Flashbug, Godbug etc ...
Something I learned in my 2k+ hours the other day was that if Kushala Daora takes flight to form a tornado, if you flash it in the middle of it's starting ascent, before it does that pose in the middle of the tornado, it'll come crashing back down and no tornado forms. This happened when I flashed it in multiplayer so maybe latency could have a hand in it. I may try it solo once I get to fighting it
Your character can get drunk if you use 7 or more drink gesture (RT/R2) in canteen table and then get up.. Just know it last week after 300 hours+ of gameplay
Thundermantle makes you immune to paratoads and another cool thing you can use items mid air after your mounting finisher especially good for putting on mantles or mighpills ect.
I learned that one today actually when doing it myself, was just trying to get my mantle on asap and i did it mid air so I was confused, didn't know that was a feature
Insect Glaive can stick only to climbable walls [not just any walls] as the pogo-stick, as I like to call it, pierces and gets stuck in the plants. Petting the Poogie before each quest boosts yours luck.
I think I got one thing most players don’t know about it. You can actually down a flying monster if you shoot it with brightmoss in the face (sometimes you need to shoot it twice or three times to down it), and it still works when the monster is already immune to flashes

I knew all of these. Well, except the fish, but i probably only spent thirty minutes fishing in the whole game so, nothing weird about that. I would have loved to learn an interesting tidbit of info about the game, but i also played it to death, so it's no wonder really. Here are more "'facts" that are rarely known : 1:On fact number seven you show that insect glaive can hold on to walls. You can also climb the wall this way, and it's faster that regular climbing. 2:Most monster status mechanics are regulated with either a timer or a secret meter, that you fill doing your stuff, and that goes down as time goes by. Meaning if you want to proc something, such as a stun, or a mount, you have to do that thing a lot in a short amount of time for best result. 3:You can dodge nergigante's divebomb attack with a simple roll if timed correctly. 4:Monsters have certain animations that they can not be flinched out of, meaning that no matter what happens to them during these animations, they won't react or die. Which is why flash bombs often fail, why you can break a part of a monster that is downed and not reproc the down timer, and you can often time kill a monster with a stone or otherwise puny damage. 5:You can dodge some roars with regular dodges. Roars are hitboxes, and dodges gives you invulnerability frames. If you can match your i-frames with their hitboxes, you dodge the roar. Evade window can give you more, up to almost half a second of i-frames, from about a quarter of a second. 5bis: At evade window + 0 you can dodge the roars of : Nergigante, Kushala doara, Teostra, Lunastra, Kulve Taroth, Leshen, Rathian, Rathalos, B52, and most smaller monsters. Deviljho, Val Hazak and Xenojiva are all harder to dodge, and likely require higher level of evade window buffs to dodge. 6: On the subjet of dodges, some dodges have innately more i-frames, such as SNS backhops and DB's arch demon mode dodges. There's a ton of things to learn about how DPS works, which is rarely known, specific channels such a jinjinx and tuna do a better job at explaining than what i could do here.
I've known about 9# for most of my time playing, because it is obvious, I mean the boulder has vine walls that looks like the vines you can climb on everywhere else in the area.
"Great blue Martin" XD So I went to get the marlin you showed. Ended up finding it first attempt, plus a giant tuna and a giant red praxus fish. Was a good haul!
The insect glaive wall tip may actually be useful for those who like to combo the gliding mantle for mounting as well as mounted strikes, and for easy access to easily "start bouncing" on top of monsters (since they have a bounce atk to prolong being in the air)
- If you try to put a trap under two monsters doing a Turf War while they’re on the ground, that trap will get destroyed. - If you try to put a trap on a monster caught via environmental hazards and Grimalkynes like Trappers, Gajalaka shell barrage, vine traps, etc, that trap will not activate. It will only activate once the monster recovers from said hazards. - While hanging from a climable wall, you can drink potions. You can also attack while hanging using your hunter knife as well.
Good thing to keep in mind is that when you abandon your quest you'll get your items back but in addition you also lose any item that you may have gotten within the quest from for example gathers or carvings.
Dodgama's jaw has 3 different Hitzone Values depending on its state. Normally I think its 50 or so, but when it eats rocks and begins to glow, it jumps up to 75, and if it eats rocks again while glowing, it'll jump up to 100 HV. This is the only part on any monster that has a HV of 100, meaning your attacks will deal full damage to it. It's why Team Darkside used Dodogama when they did their "highest damage number ever" video.
The most obscure thing I know about MHW is that you can actually knock down limping monsters out of their climb animation by swinging into them while on a vine. I've only done it once and don't even know if it does damage cause I was so suprised, but that has to be the most obscure attack in the game. If they aren't limping, you get knocked out of the swing animation instead.
I had no idea that marlins were even in the game. I don't even think there are delivery quest about them. And here I am struggling to find that great platinum fish.
that cat moxie thing is neat! I've got a pal stuck on Nargacuga Iceborn because he keeps dying to his tail slam when above him. Well, I discovered that you don’t have to brace at all in the mounting mini-game. All you have to do is change your position before the monster tries to get you to dismount and you won’t lose any stamina, all the while you can still keep stabbing non-stop. If you keep changing positions every few seconds the monster won’t even stand a chance.
Mantles actually don't decay at all if all you do is stand still. Through the power of overlays on the PC version, you can see mantle durations, and the duration does not go down at all unless certain conditions are met
Woooow, you just blew my mind :O I have about 730 hours in MHW at this point and nearly all of the points were new discoveries for me! Already shared it with my friends :)
To add to #10, pierce pods work wonders on longer monsters! Instead of shooting it’s head try hopping on the back then shoot it and it should pierce, just before the knockdown blow you have enough time to hop back on the head or tail depending on what you’re tryna do
#1. ALSO! Abandoning quest WILL refund your meal voucher! Except it only works if you use it AFTER departing. If you use your meal voucher at Astera canteen or gathering hub it will not refund you.
Holding walls with the insect glaive is a way to get around the environment without putting it away. You can jump up to clear short walls. You can also jump off the wall for an aerial attack but that's basically pointless with the glaive.
If you're charging great sword, tackle and then charge again, I believe that not only does it skips to the next phase of true slash, it charge time is a bit quicker.
You can continuously mount the multiple monster by jump off from their body when another monster near it and press attack button when the other monster get close enough to previous monster that you mount, can do it when multiple monster task like hunt Legiana ,B52 and pickle in Coral Highland, because the place Legiana landed near the camp 2 is the best and easy place to mount

You can roll through pretty much everything when timed right. That's the whole point of the s.
B-52 xD gotta love beetlejuice
I've known about 9# for most of my time playing, because it is obvious, I mean the boulder has vine walls that looks like the vines you can climb on everywhere else in the area.
"Great blue Martin" XD
So I went to get the marlin you showed. Ended up finding it first attempt, plus a giant tuna and a giant red praxus fish. Was a good haul!
Damn bro you’re not getting anything good for the rest of the year 🤣
The insect glaive wall tip may actually be useful for those who like to combo the gliding mantle for mounting as well as mounted strikes, and for easy access to easily "start bouncing" on top of monsters (since they have a bounce atk to prolong being in the air)
"Did I mention I have 3 THOUSAND HOURS?!"
"which leads me to my n3xt tip: play 3 thousand hours like me"
I feel like after watching this is be embarrassed to tell anyone I had that much time invested lol
also marLLLLLin it's a f'ing fish dude...not Steve Martin
I feel lucky as hell , I caught a king marlin within my first 150 hours of playing the game
That awkward moment when you didn’t know the first 2
- If you try to put a trap under two monsters doing a Turf War while they’re on the ground, that trap will get destroyed.
I remember when u discovered the falling rock on stream... that was magical
Good thing to keep in mind is that when you abandon your quest you'll get your items back but in addition you also lose any item that you may have gotten within the quest from for example gathers or carvings.
Oh god I don't want to be reminded of that AT xeno run
One of the funnest fights in base World. Slap on heat guard and evade window, and it's a doddle.
The insect Glaive thing is good for jumping up onto a platform or invul evading when you're trapped against it.
Explain the dodogama in th thumbnail or it's a clickbait
Dodgama's jaw has 3 different Hitzone Values depending on its state. Normally I think its 50 or so, but when it eats rocks and begins to glow, it jumps up to 75, and if it eats rocks again while glowing, it'll jump up to 100 HV. This is the only part on any monster that has a HV of 100, meaning your attacks will deal full damage to it. It's why Team Darkside used Dodogama when they did their "highest damage number ever" video.
@@Alchemyst326 Pretty sure its a multiplier, so it's x.5, x.75 and x1 but yeah
The most obscure thing I know about MHW is that you can actually knock down limping monsters out of their climb animation by swinging into them while on a vine. I've only done it once and don't even know if it does damage cause I was so suprised, but that has to be the most obscure attack in the game. If they aren't limping, you get knocked out of the swing animation instead.
I discovered the Speed Up Book Animation like 1 week ago... Randomly xD
I had no idea that marlins were even in the game. I don't even think there are delivery quest about them. And here I am struggling to find that great platinum fish.
#11: My wife and I's anniversary
I had the great king marlin after 600hr into the game, it's actually not that hard to find
How romantic!
can i join?
@@banbechamcom i had great king merlin directly after learning it existed , 5 minutes of searching
Happy Anniversary!
that cat moxie thing is neat! I've got a pal stuck on Nargacuga Iceborn because he keeps dying to his tail slam when above him. (he mains insect glaive) using moxie should help out as he refuses to use: 1.) fortitude, 2.) demon and armor drugs, 3.) max potions, 4.) and gives up when he dies and can't eat at the canteen no more. (I know, I know. It is a pain for me to deal with too!)
YES another ASMR video
Btw about the insect glaive and wall thing, if you have the second extract you can climb faster than climbing normally.
for #7, could you use it as a psudo form of ledge hopping?
You can actually climb wall with the Insect glaive, just keep jumping up
I dunno if anyone else mentioned it but not only can you cling to walls with insect glaive, you can CLIMB them with the glaive! (Just hold forward and press triangle, or whatever button you use to do the rising slash combo)
And who uses the handler for getting quests?
Sometimes it's easier after you eat
@@hadoobieboi I normally go from wherever I am to smithy area by the transport things then I get my quest then go and eat
Why is the handler so hated?lol
@@luxrion5179 same but say I'm joining someone else's quest and I forgot something, I'm not gonna go all the way to the board when she's right there lol
If I recall correctly, there are markings on your lifebar when u have the skill guts. Two red triangles marking the amount of life you need so guts will activate
Yeeeeahh a normal video from 'conomist. I like the streams but I REALLY like the normal content since I can't make every stream...
I knew 8/10
I didn't know the insect glaive trick and I had no idea that you could get on the Boulder in the Ancient Forest.
Scam i knew 8 out of 10
That’s not what a scam is though.
I honestly think that everyone who doesn't use elemental resistance against monsters such as Kirin, Teostra and Lunastra is incompetent
Against kirin, I agree with elemental resistance. For teostra and lunastra, I never really needed that high of elemental resistance to fight them
@@ShinkaisenStelar ok it doesn't have to be very high, but at least 20 for blight resistance is adequate
And here I thought I figured all the mechanics out in this game, nice vid GE 👍
Ah yes, Dodogama’s neck is an easter egg.
Won't even watch the video, that thumbnail genuinely made me furious lol
Your videos are great! You have become my favorite MHW channel. Keep up the great work.
9:00 30 thousands hours
Wut
He said 3 in a weird way, not 30
I still find new small caves in the Ancient Forest to this day.^^
And on topic of the King Marlin, I caught him just a few days ago and the next time I fought the Greatest Jagras over at the beach both the normal Marlin and the King Marlin were swimming around.
Jokes on you @Thegameconomist ive seen all those livestreams and saw you catch that marlin. Btw you missed a tip, when you cart, you are able to enjoy the handlers smile
Well, I discovered that you don’t have to brace at all in the mounting mini-game. All you have to do is change your position before the monster tries to get you to dismount and you won’t lose any stamina, all the while you can still keep stabbing non-stop. If you keep changing positions every few seconds the monster won’t even stand a chance.
doesnt changing positions use stamina...
30,000 hours???? i hope u meant 3 but anyway great video , im happy i learned this 100 hours in and not 1000 hours in keep it up :) .
Yea i hope so otherwise thats 1250 days
He said just over 3000 at the beginning of the video. Dont think over 3 means 30 lol
Ya i think you put too many zeros there lol
Mantles actually don't decay at all if all you do is stand still. Through the power of overlays on the PC version, you can see mantle durations, and the duration does not go down at all unless certain conditions are met
I appreciate your content, but dont put misleading thumbnails, its a reportable offense.
Not may people know that you can KO gajalakas with the crystalburst.
5:40 You can actually climb up faster using this it consumes stamina fast tho
Dude, I don't know what it is about your voice but it's so pleasant. I feel like I'm getting Monster Hunter tips from Mr. Rogers.
Woooow, you just blew my mind :O I have about 730 hours in MHW at this point and nearly all of the points were new discoveries for me! Already shared it with my friends :)
To add to #10, pierce pods work wonders on longer monsters! Instead of shooting it’s head try hopping on the back then shoot it and it should pierce, just before the knockdown blow you have enough time to hop back on the head or tail depending on what you’re tryna do
I knew 6 of those, but it's still a good list. That book animation skip is a life-changer. Thank you
I found out recently that you can use a farcaster, while climbing vines. Never knew the animation even allowed that to be possible.
Best voice ton and music for a tuto I ever heard ! Very pleasant
#3 also works on the quesst board, it´s a faster zoom
