Did you do Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2? Cant find it, released between Doctor Strange and Spider-Man Homecoming 🤔 They’re important for Infinity War.
"bury me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from the ships. they knew that death was better than bondage." that's a quote about how he'd rather die than be held prisoner in Wakanda for his actions. He knows hes guilty, regrets nothing, but the soldier in him would rather die than be a prisoner. I put this exact quote on the cover page of my master's dissertation on the commoditization and treatment of African enslavement sites and burial grounds.
"chadwick you look swole you look healthy" was also fighting stage 3 colon cancer for 2 or 3 years while filming all his MCU entries. So that is saying a LOT So fun fact about women and Africa... I want to see the movie myself, but I do hate taking history and greatly distorting it so much. In reality, it was extremely tragic, but at the same time, Africans didn't have the technology to deal with the Europeans.

Mbaku didn’t kill tchalla or take the herb because, although rivals and they don’t get along, they are not without honor. Mbaku knew what wa s right and earned my respect for the choice he made. Also, Bucky was placed In cryo in Wakanda at the end of civil war!
If you recall, Alex, Klaue had his left arm torn off by Ultron in the second Avengers movie. And we'll forgive you for forgetting Bucky was in Wakanda since it's been over a month ago since you reacted to "Civil War." It was in one of the end credit scenes.
His recall game is terrible lol. He forgets stuff that just happened in 2 or 3 movies ago lol. He's prolly gonna miss half the references in Infinity War and Endgame.
@@peterphilly4148 that's exactly what he meant. The fact black panther came out in 2018 and these 2 geniuses up top think that he was referencing that time when it's been almost 5 years since this movie came out
In general, the king IS the Black Panther. T'Challa became Black Panther before he became king because his father relinquished the role as he aged, and became more embroiled in politics.
32:59 ...you actually watched and reacted to when his sister told him that his suit would charge up kinetic energy from the same place taking multiple hits, then he would be able to redistribute it. So, when he hit the ground, that was from energy his suit had charged up. He was able to knock the tribe attacking him to the ground and go save his sister. This was one of many times throughout the film that he used that particular feature of his suit.
29:40 He definitely could have done that, but the fact that he didn't shows M'Baku's integrity. He's honorable and only wants to earn the throne in a fair way which is why he challenged T'Challa in the official ceremony.
Some answers to your questions: -They stripped T'challa of his powers during the duels at the waterfalls so that it was an equal playing field. With the Heart-Shaped Herb in his system, it gives him supernatural strength, instinct and speed. -This movie takes place not too long after Captain America: Civil War, hence the flashbacks to T'challa's father's death. -Ulysses Klaue is the guy from Age of Ultron we met in Johannesburg, who had his arm chopped off by Ultron. He later turned a mining tool into a prosthetic arm with a sonic gun (as, in the comics, he was able to manipulate sound with a little satellite dish in place of his left hand). Some thoughts: Black Panther is still my favorite standalone movie in the MCU, though it is closely followed by an upcoming movie that you'll get to eventually (that I don't want to spoil anything about). Everything about it, but especially the juxtaposition of T'challa and Killmonger, stands out to me. Killmonger is one of the most understandable villains in the MCU, and in a way, people can empathize with his story and his motives, while also condemning his methods. T'challa, played by the late great Chadwick Boseman, is a standout in this and in every movie/project he was part of before his passing. The man changed the game for superheroes in my opinion, and paved the way for more badass films with unique cultural spins like it. Cannot wait for you to get to Infinity War and beyond bro. Keep it up!
I’m actually from Chadwick’s hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. this man has done so much for the kids & local communities around here. Wakanda Forever, My King 🤴🏿🔥🍻
You’d be surprised how much American music is in other places…I was in Nicaragua in Central America riding in the back of a pick up truck and they started signing T-pain in perfect English
Alex, you are understanding the pros and cons of watching this series in a short amount of time: You don't have to wait months or a year between each movie but watching them only once means you don't remember all the ways they are connected. For example: "What, why is Bucky there?". Bucky was put in stasis in Wakanda during the end credits of Civil War so they could get the Hydra brainwashing out of him.
Great reaction Alex but for the first time there seems to be a few things you missed. 1st you have seen Klaw before in age of ultron when ultron cuts of his arm. 2nd the king and the black panther is always intertwined titles and not separate. and most importantly in the end of civil war Bucky was frozen down in Wakanda till they found a way to get the implant out of his braind so seeing him awake shows they have succeeded. anyway hype for infinity war =)'
Respectfully, I'd like to argue against what you said about the terms of the king and Black Panther being one in the same. When Killmonger talks about exercising his blood right as a descendant of Wakandan royalty, he specifically mentions how the challenge against T'Challa is for both mantles of king of Wakanda and for the Black Panther, insinuating that they're not the same title with interchangeable names. Another piece of evidence that argues against your claim is how T'Challa's father, T'Chaka, was still considered to be king of Wakanda during "Captain America: Civil War", but T'Challa was still only referred to as the Black Panther, which he details as a mantle passed that's been passed down from warrior to warrior for generations. Again I can see where the confusion is in regards to both mantles and how they're always mentioned together and rarely mentioned separately. I remember having to do a deep dive through UA-cam and Google to figure out whether or not being king of Wakanda meant that you'd automatically be referred to as a Black Panther. But alas, they are two different titles that T'Challa has earned. Hope to see what happens later in the MCU!
@@nickhy5 it was cut for time, but there’s a deleted scene where T’Challa talks about when his father asked him to take over the mantle of black panther from him because it was getting harder and harder to fit into the costume still as he got older. They implied that the king takes on the mantle unless they choose someone else to hold it for them.
@@nickhy5 There have also been arcs in the comics where T'challa has been injured and Shuri has briefly taken his place as the Black Panther, though she relied more on tech than the heart shaped herb. Her version of Black Panther was almost the Wakandan Iron Man.

Where in Africa though. It is a very big place with dozens of countries and hundreds of distinct cultures. The American and British actors did a shoddy job of their accents, especially Forest Whittaker. The closest to a legit African accent of any kind was by Danai Gurira whose parents are Zimbabweans who moved to the US. John Kani (who plays King T'Chaka) is South African so so his accent in an actual African accent. I would have liked to have seen more real African actors cast as Wakandans.
@@HighlanderReactionsZA Kenya and some people there did have British background so I guess some peoples accents in the movie sounded a little closer to that
U kinda put it wrong.. he did not cut of the arm after he sold him the vibranium, cos that kinda sound as though, don't ask for payment, or I will cut of the rest of ur body parts as well. Lol. He cut it off, bcos he mentioned that he looked alike or resembled Stark by saying: You one of his? And Ultron snaps saying, Stark is a sickness, don't compare me to Stark.
Ulysses Klaue was played by Andy Serkis, who did Gollum/Smeagol in Lord of the Rings. Agent Ross was played by Martin Freeman, who was Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. In a movie with an almost all-black cast, you could say these guys were the two "Tolkien" white people. 😆
When you learn that Chadwick had already been diagnosed with cancer by the time this movie was filmed, that line when he returned to face Killmonger "I never yielded" takes on a whole new meaning. Chadwick will be greatly missed
For reference, this movie didn't go unnoticed. This was actually one of Marvel's biggest releases and had a huge cultural effect on the black community and the Marvel Community as a whole. I still remember seeing this at Atlantic Station opening night. The black culture and support that was on display still is like nothing else I've ever experienced and I've been in the theater for every single Marvel MCU film opening since Iron Man. The only movies to come close to mimicking the feeling this give me, was Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame and Spider-Man No Way Home; all of which are going to blow your mind. I would recommend refreshing your knowledge on the MCU before you get Infinity War Next week. You're about to witness the 1st part of the MCU's 10 year culmination. I.e...You're near the end of the Infinity Saga.
When T'challa (Chadwick Bosman) visits the ancestral plain is my favorite part, and the most recent time I watched this movie, when he visited the ancestral plain for the second time and his father said it was time to be reunited with him, I cried. I will miss you Chadwick! you were one of the best in these movies. I'll be watching them forever! WAKANDA FOREVER!👐
Stay off your message board until next week! 😂 Spoilers always slip out for the next marvel movie you're about to watch, and to spoil infinity war would be criminal! 😆
I'd definitely go see my mom, grandma, and both of my grandpas. Thank you for continuing your marvel reactions, they brighten my week every time I see them🤗 Rest In Power, Chadwick🙏🏻
I would go see my great grandfather again. I knew him growing up but there was too much of an age gap for me to really appreciate him. He was an incredibly wise and powerful man, I could've learned a lot from him, but I don't think I was mature enough and by the time I was he was so old that he wasn't fully himself. Now that I'm an adult I'm sure that if I was able to see him again i'd learn so much wisdom and gain his blessing. Rest in Peace Great Grandad.
when the young killmonger said "everbody dies , i just life around here" he was right especially in the ghettos of america in the 90's and yes a lot of people felt the same way killmonger did
Yeah, it's not that he doesn't have empathy, it's that he's been inundated with so much death and loss, he's numb. He's an example of why it's wrong of Wakanda to close their eyes to the troubles of the World.

The Snow Furman (M'baku) gained a respect for T'chala after their fight, because he inspired him to throw away his life and spared him. Hence why he didn't take the herb even though he totally would have earlier.
It may not have been his final performance, but this movie and it's message, especially that "more connects us" speech at the end, serve as a fantastic end note to Chadwick's life. From what little I know of him, Chadwick was absolutely the incarnation of Black Panther's message here, he seems to have been all about equality, empathy, kindness, and elevating others. Was it intentional that you recorded and uploaded this around the 2-year anniversary of his death?
The guy who played Klaue is Gollum. The CIA guy played Bilbo. Killmonger was like Thanos, people who did bad things for good reasons. Both Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan played the character of Reggie Porter on the soap opera All My Children when they were younger.
Yeah this reaction pissed me off lowkey like I hate people that would rather crack jokes than pay attention, we are watching you react to the movie so actually react to it
Started half hour late. Dang Alex. Way to make me feel ancient. I graduated high school in 1992. Who would I see on the other side.. Tough call.. My parents or my husband. I miss all three of them.
I'd visit with my uncle, he got me into comics, & sci-fi. He also took me to many conventions. He's the reason I still watch Doctor Who after 40 years. He'd be fascinated by modern tech, it'd blow his mind as he died in 1989.
When Michel B Jordan dropped that line in the museum about how do you think your ancestors got the artifacts I wanted to scream in the theater! European and American museums are full of stollen history and getting to see that call out on such a large scale was sick. To me, Killmonger and Magneto are two of the most sympathetic villains in Marvel movies. They are 100% correct in what they want to fight against but just go about it in a crazy way.
Can’t believe you forgot Klaw from Civil War. And in the comics, M’Baku is called Man-Ape. He wears a white fur gorilla suit. So that’s what his fur here represents. Jordan becomes Gold Jaguar. And “what are those” never gets old. We’ll still use it. Coachella still happens
one of the best part of this movie is the score and soundtrack. totally caught the vibe perfectly. Kendrick Lamar did the soundtrack and it is a straight up banger to this day.
You're right bro! Yes this film was amazing... and is the ONLY superhero movie, action movie that my Mom ever watched in the movie theater... and talked about for days with everyone. Chadwick Boseman was born a year after me in 1976. Also, most of the plot in this movie follows quickly after the events in Captain America: Civil War (when Black Panther was introduced).
Born in 76, saw it in the theater w my mom, too! Only Marvel film she's ever seen. We both wept at its beauty, at Chadwick's powerful performance and gentle heart. I'll never forget it.
@Alex Hefner, granted, you’re hilarious, but thinking up jokes may be distracting you from the film...You weren’t sure if the protagonist was good or bad, despite his killing his lover in cold blood. You were confused as to why the snow king didn’t kill the king, when T’Chala allowed him to tap out, thus saving face. As a reactor, it’s more important to understand what’s going on then to be funny. Case in point, not remembering how Bucky ended up in Wakanda. I think you need to find a balance...Perhaps more observations, less “gooch” 😏 Take care 🖤🌹🖤🧛🏻♀️
Black Panther won an Oscar for costume design!!! Well deserved!!! They also won Best Original Score and Best Production Design!!! The first Oscars for any Marvel project :D
YES! MARVEL MONDAY IS BACK! The only reason to survive a monday... Thank you Alex - you are great at this and also motivate me (a bit) in your other videos. As a Swede I'm proud that fellow Swede Ludwig Göransson made the music for this and WON an OSCAR for it!
I am so glad this was posted today, had such a shitty day I forgot it was Marvel Monday then I come home and check UA-cam and there it is. Made my night. I get emotional watching this knowing Chadwick Bosman isn’t with us anymore. While it’s not on my list of top favorites, it’s one of the most visually stunning movies I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait for Infinity War, it’s wild. 😄
The reason the Rival Tribe didn't kill the Prince of because, while YES, he absolutely would've wanted to kill him and take the Herb. Their custom is built upon power. And even though they don't side with the other tribes, the Prince beat their Champion. So after finding him, he was kept alive out of honor. He had beaten their best, and as such was worthy of being allowed to live.
Ads you might recall, Bucky was taken to Wakanda at the end of Civil War, in hopes of curing his brainwashing; they made it fairly clear in the end credit scene that Nakia succeeded in doing so.
Shuri is 16 at this point in the MCU and the smartest person, smarter than Bruce and Tony and this was confirmed by the Russo brothers. She's a certifiable genius who is head of Wakanda's technology and science departments and was encouraged by T'Challa from a young age to explore it as he's also quite smart himself
Vibranium is the stuff Captain Americas shield is made off, they reference that some was stolen before and sold to the American goverment. Enjoyed watching you experience Black Panther and am looking forward to the big 2 movies Coming keep up the good work
The German with one arm is the same one that stole the Vibranium a while back, and that’s the vibranium that Ultron was buying from him, when he cut off his arm
I love the visuals in this movie. In the challenge scene (the first one), all the colors on the people lining the rock wall is just so cheerful and bright. What I really love though is that tunic that T-Challa wears in the visions when he goes to see his father after taking the heart-shaped herb. All white with striking black designs, so stunning! I'd love to have one, but I'm afraid I'd just make it look sad.
My grandfather passed at the beginning of this year. This Thanksgiving soon will be hard. Just thinking about that empty seat makes me cry. I'd give so much if I could cross over and see him again for a moment or two.
"The child that is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it's warmth." - Ancient African Proverb Great reaction but I'll argue on your initial confusion over whether Killmonger was good or bad. From his intro, he poisoned a museum curator because her ancestors took items from another culture. Then he takes a mask of another culture - not even for education's sake but because he was just "feeling it". Not only did he kill someone, he did the same exact thing he spoke against.
Something funny about this movie! This movie features two actors who would go onto be in Jordan Peele horror movies. The first is Daniel Kuluuya who plays T'challa's friend turned enemy towards the end of the movie W'Kabi (He was in the movies Get Out and Nope) The second is Winston Duke who plays the snow tribes leader M'Baku (He was in the movie Us) Thought that it was kind of cool both of them were in this movie :)
Growing up, T’Challa was one of my favorite characters. When I got to see Wakanda on screen for the first time, I was full on crying. My wife was so confused as to why, since the movie was barely starting. It’s so amazing to have the privilege to see things we love brought to life in a way we never thought possible.
A few connecting points for you and some fun facts! The Black Panther mantle and the mantle of King are two separate titles that can be held by two separate people. The black panther is the strongest warrior. T’challa was the black panther already in Captain America: Civil War because his father was too old to continue to carry the title. Carrying on, yes the powers of the black panther are stripped when competing in the challenge to ensure the fight is as even as possible and if you can beat your opponent unaided, then you will be unstoppable with the powers. The place that T’challa and Kilmonger go to and see their fathers is called the ancestral plane. You will see your ancestors not just random people or whoever you want to see. Klaue is the same guy who Ultron went to in Avengers: Age of Ultron when he was trying to upgrade his robot body (which eventually became the Vision). Ultron cut off Klaue’s arm thus why he had a weaponized prosthetic. (Also Vibranium is what Captain americas shield is made of) (Fun fact the actor that plays Klaue is also the actor of Smeagol/Gollum in Lord of the Rings) If you remember, one of the credit scenes of Captain America: Civil War showed Bucky going back into cryo. Steve brought him here to Wakanda because he knew they had the best tech and if anyone could help/fix his friend, it would be them. This movie is one of, if not the BEST in the entire MCU. The colorfulness of the culture, the representation is provided, as well as presenting a villain who actually makes a valid argument is why it continues to be held so highly. I can’t wait for the sequel to see where these characters go next and to pay tribute to an actor who made a lasting mark on film.
One of the best origin stories to this day, Black Panther is a phenomenal masterpiece! Still can’t believe it has been 2 years, it still hurts watching this movie, we were never ready to be without him. WAKANDA FOREVER!!! 🖤

I am teary eyed. This movie was great and is now a staple of Black culture. Chadwick was fighting cancer while being The Black Panther. May he rest in peace.
Some fun facts about this movie: 1. MBJ improvised the “hey auntie” in the throne room 2. MBJ is a huge anime nerd and if you look closely his outfit resembles that of Vegeta from Dragonball 3. MBJ is the 2nd actor to play Johnny Storm/Human Torch in a Fantastic 4 movie prior to joining the MCU, the first being Chris Evans 4. Since Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis were both in the Lord of the Rings franchise and the only white members of the cast, the people on set would often refer to them as the Tolkien White Guys

I think there`ll be a lot of gooch holding your part during the next film. Infinity War is the magnum opus in the Avengers franchise (IMHO). His recall game is terrible lol. He forgets stuff that just happened in 2 or 3 movies ago lol. He's prolly gonna miss half the references in Infinity War and Endgame.

2 1/2 years after you mean?
Definitely after
@@jeffreymcmahon3627 I think he's referring to the release of this review. Chadwick died on August 28, 2020.
Wakanda Forever
Some answers to your questions:
-They stripped T'challa of his powers during the duels at the waterfalls so that it was an equal playing field.
Some thoughts:
Black Panther is still my favorite standalone movie in the MCU, though it is closely followed by an upcoming movie that you'll get to eventually (that I don't want to spoil anything about).
Keep it up!
Bro chill
Yeah my man, Black Panther is up there for me, but I GOTS ta say, they making a mistake by not recasting doe…

Steve took Bucky to Wakanda at the end of Civil War to get his mind right. That’s why/how he’s there
I’m actually from Chadwick’s hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. this man has done so much for the kids & local communities around here. Wakanda Forever, My King 🤴🏿🔥🍻
I never realized the irony of Klaue being an "arms dealer".
RIP Chadwick, you truly were one of a kind and a brilliant light 😔
@@nickhy5 agreed with this wholeheartedly 💯
@@nickhy5 it was cut for time, but there’s a deleted scene where T’Challa talks about when his father asked him to take over the mantle of black panther from him because it was getting harder and harder to fit into the costume still as he got older. They implied that the king takes on the mantle unless they choose someone else to hold it for them.
@@nickhy5 There have also been arcs in the comics where T'challa has been injured and Shuri has briefly taken his place as the Black Panther, though she relied more on tech than the heart shaped herb. Her version of Black Panther was almost the Wakandan Iron Man.
@@nickhy5 Actuly no the title of black panther can only be given to the king . so yes they are 2 diffrnt titles and are alwz mentioned as king and black panther but they do go hand in hand . and about the observation about tchalla being black panther in civil war while his dad was the king . they didnt care to explain that in this movie where is there is pre lud comic thta came before the black panther movie that explains why tchalla had the mentle at that point . i will get back to you with its name as myslf havnt read it . but have seen its mention in cinima sins and pitch meeting video of black panther . so
I had lived in Africa for 6 years so I loved how accurate this movie was with culture and accents and music!
@@HighlanderReactionsZA Kenya and some people there did have British background so I guess some peoples accents in the movie sounded a little closer to that
I know it's tough to retain everything but Klaue was in Age of Ultron, Ultron cut his arm off after he sold him vibranium
Don't forget Andy's awesome portrayal of Cesar in the new Planet of the Apes trilogy.
I'm praying that Alex makes Infinity War a two-part reaction. Way too much to miss for a single video.
As long as both parts are released at once that'd be good. Squeezing yet another week out of the series would not.
@@Linerunner99 100% agree
Vibranium is the same stuff Captain America’s shield is made out of, in case you didn’t make the connection.

I was lucky enough to go see this in theaters the energy inside that theater was addictive super impactful one of the best movies. R.I.P Chadwick.
when the young killmonger said "everbody dies , i just life around here" he was right especially in the ghettos of america in the 90's and yes a lot of people felt the same way killmonger did
which is sad
Yeah, it's not that he doesn't have empathy, it's that he's been inundated with so much death and loss, he's numb. He's an example of why it's wrong of Wakanda to close their eyes to the troubles of the World.
Yeah Chadwick was lost way too soon and the fact that he kept it a secret for so long until he died that will forever be in my soul cuz I'm a man too and I don't want to burden anyone

I'd visit with my uncle, he got me into comics, & sci-fi. He also took me to many conventions. He's the reason I still watch Doctor Who after 40 years. He'd be fascinated by modern tech, it'd blow his mind as he died in 1989.
Fun fact, Agent Ross was Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit and Klaus was Andy Serkis who plays Smeagol/Gollum in all the Tolkien movies.
And that's why we love Danai Gurira as Michonne in The walking Dead!
As a korean whos born in the us and recently visited korea… yes! Go! Its such a beautiful and amazing place to visit!

From your live chat, splitting Infinity War and Endgame into two parts each is a great idea!
I think you need to find a balance...Perhaps more observations, less “gooch” 😏
Take care

Shuri is 16 at this point in the MCU and the smartest person, smarter than Bruce and Tony and this was confirmed by the Russo brothers.

Great reaction but I'll argue on your initial confusion over whether Killmonger was good or bad.

It's so good, you almost forget it's a Marvel movie! The world was not ready!
(Also Vibranium is what Captain americas shield is made of) (Fun fact the actor that plays Klaue is also the actor of Smeagol/Gollum in Lord of the Rings)
If you remember, one of the credit scenes of Captain America: Civil War showed Bucky going back into cryo.

The “dumbass looking dude” with the beard you mentioned is the same guy that sold Ultron the Vibranium in Wakanda in Age of Ultron.
I am teary eyed. This movie was great and is now a staple of Black culture. Chadwick was fighting cancer while being The Black Panther. May he rest in peace.
Some fun facts about this movie:
1. MBJ improvised the “hey auntie” in the throne room
2. MBJ is a huge anime nerd and if you look closely his outfit resembles that of Vegeta from Dragonball
3. MBJ is the 2nd actor to play Johnny Storm/Human Torch in a Fantastic 4 movie prior to joining the MCU, the first being Chris Evans
4. Since Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis were both in the Lord of the Rings franchise and the only white members of the cast, the people on set would often refer to them as the Tolkien White Guys
Okay, "Tolkien White Guys" is hilarious.
I never heard the "Tolkien White Guys" thing. That's hilarious..

OMG Alex drive me crazy complaining bout the use of a pop culture reference for “What are those!?” When This movie is where it came from LOL
Yes its Bullet proof. His suit is made of Vibranium. The same stuff Cap's shield is made of
Glad you enjoyed. The flash back scene was filmed in Atlanta i was an extra for the Oakland scenes.

Those "bumps" on Erik Killmonger would be from a process called scarification, which is a real thing.
I think there`ll be a lot of gooch holding your part during the next film. Infinity War is the magnum opus in the Avengers franchise (IMHO). Endgame gets a lot of the praise as a technical achievement, but Infinity War is one of the most perfectly paced action films of all time. I wished I could see it again for the first time, but you will have that pleasure.
