Sweet! Stevie Nicks released "Edge of Seventeen" the winter of my first year of high school. The song was a smash hit from the moment it hit the radio airwaves. The coldness of the season added some chill to the coming of age mystery at the heart of the song. "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" with Tom Petty was already a big radio hit that year. Two related songs to compare and contrast with this are The Police "Bring On the Night" and Survivor "Eye of the Tiger". The three songs bear strong instrumental resemblance.
Love Stevie Nicks...I saw her in 1983 when her solo tour hit my city...and of course I watched this show on HBO in 1981.
60's and 70's Rock was mythological. It incapsulated an entire generation. It does not matter what genre you like, you remember these songs.
This is one of those songs that always gets me pumped without knowing why.
She sings about the white-winged dove and has the outfit to match. Love it.
You always make these songs better Fay..great commentary🙏🙏🙏
Magic tune!
Russ Kunkle on drums, Waddy Wachtel on guitar, two of the greats.

Way back when -16 was the age of consent in most states. It still is in some states, but very few of them.
The edge of 17 was close to the newer age of consent. -That's all it means.
