Between you, Buckin, and Ironhorse I have gained so much knowledge in understanding the fundamentals of a saw and it has helped in diagnosing problems, tuning the saw, and sharpening. I love to learn more and I love to be humbled by someone with far greater knowledge than me. Please do not stop making videos.

That things gonna be a screamer! I have been looking for a 266, haven't found one yet, I have 5 288 and 2 394 huskys to build right now though, can't wait for the 394, it will be like back in the day when I was loggin, I carried a 394 most of the time with a 36 inch bar.

Could i ask you to open one up to show a true world difference/ similarity between consumer grade and commercial grade chainsaws? , with measurement of crank, rods, and bearings. This way those who work on weekends can know what they are buying, and not just relying on “commercial propaganda”. I’m still running my poulan pro 5020, after 3 years of 15-20 cord/year, and have also just stepped up to a Husqvarna 545, also advertised as a 50cc saw.
In theory, if I use a caliper to measure the transfer ports, and they are dead nuts even, could i blow into the spark plug hole to find out when the transfer ports open?
Tinman, forgive me but I've only been watching your channel since you started the echo build series. Which mix oils do you not care for? You have peaked my curiosity. I only run Stihl synthetic mix, mainly because it is easy for my to get. Thanks for the videos. They're great.
Hi. You mentioned "go fast" bearings, what is those compared to standard bearings. I also "zero drag brass inserts" placed between seal and shaft. The shaft is more free and not held back by seals. Nice vid👍
Has anyone increased crankcase pressure/compression ratio. How you could do that I’m not too sure, only way I could think off the top of my head is using a turbo.
So brief tech question here. I've got a 266. Base gasket delete. Muffler mod. Runs nice. But thinking about advancing the ignition timing as I have done on other saws. Any reccomendation for how far to advance it? What about on a 365 x torq?
Good place to start with those numbers, quality gear going into this one. Ironhorses 265/272's just have an awesome, unique sound to them. Are you looking to do a custom exhaust as well if you are trying to wring every ounce out of this one?

Just remember 40 thou is roughly 1mm. .040" = 1mm. So. 10 thou, (.010") = 1/4 of a mm (.25mm) 20 thou, (.020") = 1/2 a mm (.5mm) Etc. 4 thou, (.004) = 1/10 of a mm (.1mm) The actual conversion is .03937" = 1mm but for rough work rounding up to .040 makes the conversions easy.
What can be done on a husky 455 to get more out of it? A little more open on the muffler and tune for that? Im going to buy a cylinder for my 460magnum to see what i can to for it :)

Good saw, not the fastest but strong for what it is. Some of tbose mufflers are pretty choked up where as others are wide open. Muffler mods get the heat out so I think its a good idea.
Question: you added .002” to your squish number because of motoseal. Would you also need to add something to the starting points for intake/exhaust/transfer ports in your evaluation for final grind heights?of final

Looks like they built that piston at 272 height to end up with similar squish in a 372 with a base gasket and my worries were unfounded. Very nice.

I've thought of that but I really dont think those tiny seals will hold a bunch of pressure and the bearings probably won't take the extra power.

I used both measurements but i like thousands of an inch as its such a fine measurement.

Most fuel up here has ethanol, my saws don't sit long so I don't really have any issues with it..
Whats your take on a homlite super 2 xl/sl? Overall is it worth it to mod the muffler or anything or just leave it stock?
