When I was a little girl I couldn’t wait for Saturdays when Bob Ross would paint “happy little birds” on his paintings. I would be amazed by how the paint could make a scene appear on a blank canvas. Plus Bob’s joy at painting was tangible. Now as a middle aged woman I find myself looking forward to Wednesdays in the same way. Watching you paint is a joy. Seeing the blank canvas come to life is always magical. Every detail makes such a difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I share your appreciation of Ronald Hilder and I am sure he would approve of your deft interpretation in your lovely painting. Thank you and happy Christmas to you and yours. Andy
My wonderful husband just gave me your book for Christmas. I love it. I love that you show the stages of your example paintings. It is such a great reference for me.
One more winter landscape - one more winter landscape 👏👏👏👏thank you for your great , inspiring and uplifting videos!! Thank you!! All the best for 2022!
I'm so happy you decided to do another snow scene. A very beautiful painting.I'll definitely going to give it a go. Thank you Paul for everything you have done for us this year. It's more than we could expect. You are a great teacher who makes painting achievable for everyone, which is why you never lose your motivation as a learner. Thanks again and have a very Happy and Merry Christmas with your family and friends. Take care 🎄💖!
Dagsê Paul. As I'm from South Africa and no one has a cooking clue what a hobs dryer is, let alone in a snow scene, I decided to make it South African and change the hobs dryers into maize silo's and the snow the colours you get where maize is grown. It is still in earth tones that I love. IT LOOKS FANTASTIC AND ALREADY SOLD!!!!!!!
I thought your accent was of Kent. I am a woman of Kent and woe betide the person who calls me Kentish. I love Rowland Hilder's work and have two of his books languishing on my bookshelf. Thank you Paul for giving me the courage to try to paint this great painting. Thank you for sharing your skills with us x
Dear Man of Kent ~ You’ve inspired me on two counts: never to live again where it snows and to get to work making a “manky brush.” Happy holidays to you and yours. 2022 has to be a lucky year💁🏼♀️🍀(yes, I’m told I’m 1/4 Irish ~ which explains a lot!). Cheers!
It was 5:28 in the afternoon in India, I was still waiting for your video and was getting impatient. A few seconds later, the notification came and I quickly held the mobile phone and started watching the video. Literally, I have become a fan of your pantings. I really appreciate your skills and performance. Thank you very much.
I'm another fan of Hilder and really enjoyed this, I was expecting you to scrape out that fence in the foreground but the gouache works. I was a friend of Ron Ranson before he died a few years ago and he really enjoyed Hilder's work. That's how I found out about it. On my last trip to England we toured Kent. Would love to go back. Looking forward to more videos.
yesterday I decided to give up painting. Today I watched your video and decided not to do it and to give myself one more chance. Thaaaaaaaaaaank you, Clark-super-inspirer!
Always look forward to seeing your next video!!! Loved this snow scene and love to learn from every one of your new techniqus you teach!! I've gotten more from watching you and a few other UA-cam artists than I learned in college!!! Please keep painting!!

Another lovely painting of the season. How I long to return to the UK once the pandemic allows for safe travels. In the meantime, art transports me figuratively. Thank you!
Grazie sempre per i tuoi preziosi consigli che per un ex iconografo sono d'oro e guida nel meraviglioso mondo dell'acquarello . Auguri di un Santo Natale.
I’m am particularly pleased that you have shared this winter demonstration and a bit of history of the artist Rowland Hilder. This adds to the value of learning from the masters. Your way of instruction is easy to follow and paint along with.. Excellent tutorial. Thank you very much for your great art and sharing so much.
I enjoy following your videos very much! It is so much fun to add the pastel for the highlights! What a difference they make. I think I need to order a rigger brush.
Oh good! I thought you'd forgotten your tipple break, but I see you imbibed at the end! Cheers! Here's to Good Health and Happiness in The New Year! All the Best and Thankyou for all your tutorials, Brilliant! XXX
Hi Paul; just want you to know that I'm a huge ( Dutch) fan of yours. Love the way you teach and show us how to do things. I already did more than nine projects with you and the all turned out very nicely. I framed them in and they are hanging on the wall in our living room. Friends and family admire them, and I always tell them I achieved it thanks to you. I'm painting the Rowland Hilder scene right now. Never heard of him before but I love his works now, thanks to you. Again, thank you very much and please, continue !!
Can’t wait to try this one Paul. Just want to tell you how much I appreciate you printing the colors across the page and the percentages of each. As a beginner I find it easier to follow. I also just love that you use the same basic colors. Other artists will rattle off so fast all kinds of paint colors yay I don’t have and o find it confusing to try and match. Your instruction is Simple and easy to follow. Thank you !!! Merry Christmas.
Love that you include some facts about England in your videos. I had hopes of visiting there sometime--wanting COVID to get under control so that has more of a possibility of happening.
Just done this, i bet old Roland will turn in his grave when he sees my effort ! thank you for all your delightful tutorials, have a nice holiday and a safe and happy new year
This painting “blew me away” I think your work is fabulous. It’s so inspiring, and I loved watching you paint, many thanks for your time, and attention to detail in the style of the named artist. Wow.

Those trees- I love them! So wintery and watercoloury! I could never possibly draw all neat buildings but I really do believe I can draw those trees. Splendid painting! And more British trivia, please- I'm a dyed in the wool anglophile trapped in American culture.
Wow ... what a beautiful and admirable gesture that you honor an artist who has influenced your artistic career. I love the painting you chose, it's gorgeous! And finally, sorry if I compare you and Margot as the "Rowland & Edith of the XXI century", you both are a great team! THANK YOU for so much effort and dedication. 🙏
One of my favourites ever Paul and that is quite a statement.
