like the idea, at least it gives an idea how to start, so don't worry about the negative comments, you have done a fabulous job. Thanks to sharing your work
Great video Phillip! The only minor detail I would add would be to counter sink the screws on [top] of the shelf. That way the little bump of the screw wont drive you insane when storing boxes etc. Lol.
@@HowYouCanMakeIt how you doing? Can I just use screw or nail ? What is the benefit of the pocket holes ? How much you really spend. How many boards you use . Please and thank you. Did you used sanded plywood?
@@bpierrealix pocket holes are very strong. My plans show all the materials you need basically just to sheets of plywood. Lumber prices are a bit unstable so anywhere from $100-$150
Hi Raul, I'm a new DIYer, if I use 5/8" MDF, will it be strong enough to hold the hanging sockets and how long max would the screws have to be? I don't want it puncturing through the MDF and coming out the other side. You know what I mean?
Looks very nice. Did you consider running a ledger/cleat along the back into studs for hanging and adding one to the shelving unit? Also maybe some anchors on the side.
Thank you for the suggestion! Adding a ledger or cleat could definitely enhance the stability and functionality of the shelving unit. I appreciate your input!
You have the most striking, beautiful blue eyes! This video really helped, I am going to build my own closet and this video was a great tutorial. Thanks for taking the time !
This was the first video of yours that I have seen. I really liked it and will plan some projects with these techniques and hopefully also with a great attitude like you have 😊
on the top shelf, if you had pocket holed the support bracket onto the shelf you wouldnt see the pocket holes in the closet. also the glue isnt that strong glued to a painted wall. us a drywall anchor and you get more strength. hope this helps
Nice inexpensive way of bringing a closet to it's full potential. This looks similar to the first closet I remodeled about 5 years ago. Keep it up, looking great!
It's not only amazing how passionate and good you are , but you actually took time to make this video . I am from India and I am not used to carpenter work , videos like these really make it exciting. Question is what is best wood for shelves ?? What are must tools and nice to have tools ?? Kindly helpn
Brotha, what you made looks nice. I like the idea. But pocket holes really suck for weight bearing. I would be skeptical to use your building techniques.
You read my mind I have a video coming out on Friday that shows you how to add drawers to the closet. Be sure to click the bell notification to get notified you don’t want to miss it.
Beautiful job! I will be following your plan to make my daughter’s closet! P.S. what color paint on your walls? I want to know to paint info if possible! Thank you!!!!
Love the video! Just finished the closet for the our nursery! My only concern is will it bear the weight. Have you had issues with the rod coming off after adding clothes and weight to it?
Great video, thank you! This is the perfect solution for me as I've been looking at wardrobe solutions. I know I can tackle this on my own, but I really want one of those jigs!
Best advice I can give is just do. Get a table saw and miter saw you can afford and start making. Watch videos that inspire and motivate you to take action.
It is very strong, the paper on the drywall will tear off before it does. I used liquid nails for this project because I was not going to place anything heavy on the top shelf. If you plan on putting a heavy load I would recommend screwing into the studs.
@@HowYouCanMakeIt Thank you for the prompt reply! That was my concern (paper ripping). I can see my wife overloading the shelf and tearing the paper. This could even happen to the next person that owns the house. To me, using the studs is the only way to go. If not, there are some awesome drywall anchors out now- holding 250lbs a piece. Just my experience. Thanks for the video. Your closet looks really good.
Good question! I marked each side with a line and held the shelf in place with clamps and drilled into the sides with pocket hole screws...this was the best way to ensure it was level when it stood upright.
Great video!! Exactly what I was looking for and I've already picked up the materials, cut and now painting! Very easy peasy.
Awesome glad to help 😃
Thanks
You lucky to have you dad help. My dad used too to. Nice job .. thanks for sharing

Nice job! Closet systems run way over 250$. We're building three closets. Thanks for the tips!
Glad to help, I know the price of lumber has increased since I built my closet. :)

Yes! I saw that and thought the same because that would drive me insane!

I purchased the plans. They're easy to follow and modify to your specs. Philip is super helpful in answering questions!

I purchased the plans and I can't open them for some reason. Any ideas.
The 3D file can be opened using sketchup.com and the plan is a PDF you should be able to open it Acrobat Reader
I like the way you show what you’re about to do and cut the video to make it shorter. Great job there.
thank you for the support and feedback!

Hi Philip, Great video, Please see if you can tell the width of boards you cut from plywood......Width of two long boards in the middle! Thanks
You can make it whatever you want. He exact measurement I used are in the plans.
He's charging $10 for that piece of information.
See my other comment with info. You can make it whatever size works for your closet.
Did you use cabinet grade plywood on this? Looks slick
Yes, it was grade B and C that you can get at your local hardware store.
thanks men, super helpful

How come you didnt compensate for the baseboard gap?
I didn’t see the value for this closet as the drywall behind it is not exactly flush
WOW AMAZING!!!😍😍😍😍😍

Use a dowel jig, no crappy Kreg jig holes, no expensive kreg screws...
that is one way to do it. HoweverI find Kreg Jig is much easier for entry DIYers to use...that is just my opinion.

Looks good but is not gonna be all wiggling? Or should I cut the base boards to make it flush with the wall behind?
I recommend removing the baseboard so it is flush with the wall.
