Hi Blade HQ! I'm actually from San Jose CA but thx so much for featuring my painting this means alot to me! Definitely gonna keep watching your guys videos thx again and Peace out!👍😎
I do EDC my ultratech dagger and I like having that point to piece anything you may want effortlessly, as well you basically have 2 blades in one hand you can cut up or down and I'd one sides a little dull from use the other sides probably got a little more edge to get the job done. 🥃cheers🍻
I carry a dagger blade every day. I have a Microtech Ultratech in Violet with a 204P dagger blade. When I bought it, I didn't think I'd really like having a dagger that much, but it turns out I use it every day at work. A very large portion of my job is receiving freight, guns, guitars, parts, tools, whatever. When I'm using it in my day to day workload, there is actually something to be said for not having a dull side. You stick your knife in the center of a taped edge and you can cut both directions without flipping the blade. I realize I might be a bit of a niche case, but I absolutely love my dagger bladed knife.
Love dagger blades. You have two edges to use. Comes in handy more than you think. I have the troodon, ultratech and Dirac. All in daggers, all in my edc. But also love my combat troodon with the hellhound in bronze coating and carbon fiber front scale
I’m late to this video but in regards to the dagger blade. I like them strictly for appearances. I don’t mind them for EDC but it’s not my go to for EDC. I had a dagger edge micro tech and just found sharpening it to be a little annoying trying to line up the bevels perfectly at the tip

I have an OD green with Bronze hardware UTX-85 dagger blade. I love a dagger blade!! It is so great for nothing at all but man does it look great. I carry mine all the time.
My only druther with dual edged daggers if that even in states that allow for the carry and use of OTFs/Autos they have rules against dual edged dagger blades. Iirc, Virginia is like that. I prefer bayonet style blades for that reason.
I have the Ultratech with the dagger blade as you call it. No serrations just dual plain edge. I purchased it while I was in the service. It was purchased as a purely defensive knife. Absolutely great knives. I own several auto's including a pre Blackhawk Masters of defense which is another great knife , the folding blade doesn't deploy as fast as the Ultratech. I own a Gerber tanto blade I believe it is a 06? It was what was suggested when I joined the service. But shortly after picked up the Microtech ultratech. And I also have a fun little Schrade mini extreme. It is fun to deploy and has a lot of snap. The problem with it is that the blade doesn't always snap into lock position. I just purchased a Benchmade Infidel. I think I am going to like it a lot. Anyway for knives that can take a real beating and still perform would have to go to my Gerber and my MOD. My dream knife is a G&G Deadlock..
I carry 2 knives. One dagger for fighting, literally no other use. One for everything else. It was an Ultratech for a few years but i figured the one on my multi tool is good enough. Great knives though
I wish the Microtech Stitch would have made the list. I love my stitch. The blade shape hits on so many levels. Stout blade stock, super pointy tip and a great grind. And of course it fires like a Microtech.
I just got done playing with all 3 sizes at my local shop and you truly need to put your hands on them to truly make a decision based on your grip and EDC needs, the 85 is the same size as my Kershaw from years past the full size ultratech is not much bigger and is a good size in the hand the 85 again is the same as my EDC of the past 10-15 years and the 70 is the smallest practical EDC I'd consider it is very small in the hand but has a very comfortable feel and is easy choked up on wen out and all but completely disappears in the pocket and yes I tried all of them in the pocket just to get a feel for what will be my new EDC for the rest of it's/ my life... I think I'm going full size and then 70 latter on and skipping the 85 simply because the 70 and it's full size module are exact clones in a 70% scale where the 85 had a slightly different screw layout and I'm just that OCD 😉😉 good luck to anyone in the market and I really hope you can find a local dealer to have that hands on feel you really need to appreciat what your hand and pocket are really going to want after all it's a large investment in a knife especially if your like me and spend less then $100 average ever 5-15 years as you lose one or brake it lol 🥃cheers🍻

Microtech puts out some incredibly awesome/badass knives. They look really sweet and their quality is the best. Unfortunately, most people (like myself), can't afford to spend that much on a knife.
Yeah they are sweet and pricey, I couldn't help it though and got my first and probably only utx 85 for a Christmas present to myself last week. It's frickin awesome man, although I'm thinking I should have gotten an ultratech because it's pretty small and needs a longer handle
The knife that has been clipped to the strap of my backpack for the past 4 years is my S&W HRT dagger ,it was only $20 and like I said has been with me every day for the past 4 years so that’s my true EDC. It’s not a good knife to throw in your pocket but when it comes to self defense blades there’s nothing I’d rather have then a good full tang double edged true dagger. Mine has hung upside down on my backpack and never fallen out of its sheath but it’s also quick and easy to deploy.
I have always carried a boot knife or even a full sized dagger as my combat knife, and as a self defense role after I retired from the Army. When you are using a knife to try and save your live you want to go straight for the kill and clothing and equipment can impede a knife's stabbing ability. I know it sounds violent but it is what daggers were designed to do, dispatch the enemy as quickly as possible.
I EDC a dagger troodon and it does well for EDC. The utility of the blade style is nice. Havnt had to defend myself with it but given the durability from all the every day stuff it tackles I'm sure it would hold up well. Just glad I live in a state I can edc a otf knife without bullsh!t harrassment.
I love the fact that Kurt would rather shave 1 leg than touch that beard. Just think how much better the National Knife Day video would have been with smooth legs😂
I want to thank u for this video. I have been fabricating my own switch blade but I was running into some problems. however your video has so far been the most helpful video that I have seen. you did a great job explaining the mechanics of a O.T.F knife.
I’ve had my Troodon since 2014. Used it while in the Military and held up like a champ. Other than cosmetic degradation, the thing still fires like new. Like anything else as long as routine maintenance is kept up you shouldn’t need another blade for a while.
I carry a ultratech dagger blade edc and I usually have a kbar ek-44 on my belt. It's just my personal preference. I can use them for self defense and if one side gets dull I always have another one.
I've only carried dagger style OTFs as my main intention when carrying an automatic is self defense. Not use particularly. Hence my love of the "glass" breaker 😘 This is actually my issue tho. Given how expensive they are, I haven't had much chance to experience their different blade shapes. For whoever's is reading what do you think the best combo of defense and carry would be? I like the idea of the dagger eith serrations only on one side. But it still leaves the problem of blade strength kind of (not as much with the high grade metals they use but) and safety of having a double edge. Any ideas? Spartan seems great for self defense too
I like the way you’re thinking; I for me one of these OTFs would be used as EDC and other utility work, good for defense, and the glass breaker would be good if you need to get out of your vehicle and opening the door isn’t an option. Of course, you could always use it to to break other types of windows if you’d need to get out of the house.
I carry a double edged cypher with full back serrations and love having a full clean edge and a completely serrated edge for different tasks but mainly self defense. Having the piercing power and the ability to not have to worry about if my edge is facing the right direction if I dropped it in an emergency situation.
The reason I love my ultratech with a D/E dagger is because one side is fully serrated and the other is a straight edge. If I need to cut through something extremely tough like a seat belt or tough thick rope quickly, I'll use the serrated edge which will cut through like butter. There is a test online to prove what I'm saying. Not to mention, the stabbing ability with a dagger is greater and there is also twice the cutting edge on a D/E dagger than S/E obviously.
I like a dagger blade for edc mostly bc it gives me a razor sharp edge no matter what similar to a double bit axe. I never found myself putting my thumb on the back of a blade for edc so I never worry about it.
I absolutely enjoy my Microtech Ultratech Spartan Tactical. I removed the pocket clip because I holster carry with a kydex sheath and ulti clip... Fits perfectly in the watch pocket of a pair of pants! I ordered mine off blade HQ but wasn't happy that on the site it was listed as M390 and when it arrived it was Elmax. Still a great knife and it's been through hell and back with me. Used it to break a car window and pull someone out of a flipped car and just last week ran into a burning home to pull out a 3yr old little girl and hadto break a window to get out. It's become my daily after my infidel was stolen and I couldn't be happier with the smaller size still very heavy but it feels great! A D/A OTF is the only knife I will carry besides a fixed blade when wearing gloves! After having it for a few months I ordered a few more to keep for years to come! I don't care to send it in for cleaning and sharpening with Microtech's terrible return time... It's a hard use EDC for me and I could care less about snail trails and love marks. Great damn knife!
I have a troodon d/e, utx 85 d/e, combat troodon d/e, ultratech d/e, and Halo 6 tanto. I obviously love the double edge, why? I think it looks right and the wow factor on peoples face when it comes flying out is awesome. Plus if you have to use it in a combat situation it is possible to strike with the wrong side of the blade, in the heat of the moment. Obviously double edge fixes that situation.

Studying Architecture and Engineering design and everyday at school I think about designing knives haha. Nice leg hair line you made there Kurt!
You should do a video on dive knifes I have an aqualung titanium big squeeze only problem the mounting nuts need to be all metal to hold up I broke one on the dive boat
Where’s one get a ceramic box cutter?
Utx 85 is my favorite microtech so far.
