not worth it. i own both. its just a novelty, the og is cheaper, sturdier, has less to break. bucks fit and finish has gone down quite a bit too. save your money for gas.
I've got one but I mainly got it for the brass and micarta. Not a fan of the auto setup, it's really crunchy and stiff. If they'd make one in a standard lockback, it would be a winner.
Bought the 110 elite when it was on sale and came with the free boker. I’ve since sent it back to buck hope it comes back and impresses me. It wouldn’t deploy reliably and blade play wasn’t as good as I would expect from a knife at that price point...🤞hopefully it comes back the In the condition I hope it does
that "YEAH BOIIIII" is exactlt how i feel sometimes when carrying a larger knife as well. always just explained it as a more secure or safe feeling, but that is way more appropriate
an opinel #10 is just perfect for me, im a carpenter and the tip of the knife is just slim enough to fix the jams on my nail guns and its sharp and the carbone blades get the nicest patina,i stripped the varnish and sanded the handle of my opinel and coated it with boiled linseed oil. you HAVE to try it
Zac you talk about the compact non-stop, but it shows you're genuine. You do you man! The best part about blade hq is that you guys come across as real people. Real people have preferences and sometimes we repeat ourselves. ;) Don't lose that authenticity!
OMG I thought I was the only one with a "BENCHMARK PARATROOPER" I'm so pumped others have that I don't care I want it attitude towards blades like that
I am a die hard lefty. Razer Deathadder Left Handed mouse. My conceal carry firearm of choice is the H&K VP9 because the slide drop is ambi and so is the mag release. QVO wingman holster is lefty. But my two knives that I use strictly is my CRKT Carson Design M16-04Z with the lock and CRKT Snaplock without the pocket clip for left handed opening. I have seen a few autos with left handed people in mind. And yes, I agree that @BladeHQ needs a knife banter for lefties!!!!
It's a lot of knife "abuse" not "use" if you ask me. I mean he snapped his buck canoes blade and destroyed his HKs tip. Made me cringe watching him use it on his bike.
@Redacted 00078576 you use a knife to cut stuff. Not pry things. If you damage your tools to where u have to repair them or worse, snap a tip, then that's abuse.
First knife I was ever given was a Schrade version of the “Buck 110”. Mid 80’s. To this day, never sharpened and still sharp as hell. Used a bunch, especially for fishing. The patina is Amazing. Keep it in the original leather sheath so there’s a bit of green on it too. 👍
For the scales, drill the hole over sized. Fill the hole with epoxy. Then drill the correct sized hole. Then you'll have an epoxy bedded hole of the correct diameter. Use a contrasting dye to color the epoxy fill for extra credit!
Zac's genuine unbridled joy for these knives is great to see. Put me in touch with a few there which I might have to track down. Not easy to be a British collector though
STD s35vn is a bit easier to sharpen than M390 but yes M390 is better in every other metric. I only have to sharpen my M390 blades 1-2 times a year and I use both of them daily. Cuts cardboard basically forever.
Im telling you, you have to check out the SAK Cybertool S/34. It has an in line screwdriver with interchangeable bits. I won't rewrite what I already stated on the SAK BHQ video but just to reiterate I use it all the time for carpentry needs and the bits have yet to give out. You might think its too thick, but its reall the perfect SAK.
I carry a leatherman charge titanium. Give it a try. It's never let me down. Hunting, camping, or working on vehicles.. it's a handy tool. And the S30V blade has treated me well so far.(3 years)
Great story. I got me a leatherman tool and the first wave in good condition again. I hade the when i was younger working om the farm. Fun to find them used i good condition.
I know its really nothing special but I've wanted a Buck 119 for several yrs now as when I was a kid my father carried one in his semi truck and I used to "play" with it. Yrs after my father's company closed and his trucks were sold I remembered it and hunted high n low for HIS knife. He then passed away a few yrs later and it has yet to turn up. Now every time I see one it reminds me of my father. Need one for my collection to feel complete.
You should have a functional version of that frost cutlery knife, take a pencil make an outline and make a blank. Put a copper and micarta handle on it too.
Ooh, I have thinking about a build knife, something simple and classic-a tried and true design and remake it, my idea is a kershaw leek, refinish the blade, stonewashed it, then still out the liners a bit to lighten it, make one scale micarta and texture the clip side, just make one big build video about one knife
Zac: I love the patina that had developed on my Copper Natrix. The detent on mine is a little loose and sloppy after a year. Have you seen the same issue?
Sharpen your damn knives man!! He likes building things and working, putting a good edge on a knife and learning that skill should be right up Zac's alley.
I just started collecting about 2 years ago. I have a Cold Steel SRK SK5, TOPS C.A.T. Tanto with the Cyber G-10 grips, ESEE Candiru with the orange G-10 grips and the Ontario Rat II D2 Black With the Carbon Fiber/G-10 grips. I have a thing for coated blades if you can't tell lol.
The bronze biblio is the obvious next knife for you. Fits your aesthetic and the way it patinas is so damn sexy. There are also some neat little improvements they did to the design for the Ti and Bronze models too.
My favourite two videos are this and Knives Ben Stole. They tell lots of stories behind knives, and they show your charismas, i.e. strong middle finger and long middle finger.
They were originally made for disassembling rifles and opening cans, but I received a swiss champ on my 16th b day and I lit s a smoke with magnifer, very coool.
I share Zac’s sentiments on M390. I like it way better than D2, and I think S30V. Especially after I got and carry my Bradford Guardian 3 in M390. That’s what made me fall in love with M390. I feel like that could be a good big game caping knife.
There is the Victorinox "Duke of Edinburgh" (a UK youth charity) it's a compact with a Philips. It has the rounded tipped blade, but I'm tempted to get one and make the blade into a sheepsfoot!
Zac, if you carry your Vic everyday and rotate your Hogue and Chavez, are you sure the Vic is your second knife? I EDC Vic Climber with Sebenza. Try EDCing a small fixed blade in your left front pocket. Recommend kydex sheath. Works great for me.
I love super steels, but I have the Kershaw Barge, which is 8cr13mov, and I rebeveled it a bit and brought it to a razors edge.... Tell you what.... I hammered it through 00 gauge copper wire MANY times, cut pennies in half, and batoned wood just for fun, and it still shaved hair. I got cocky though... Hammered it into some plastic type epoxy foot grate and BENT the edge of the blade... About 3mm up has a slight sideways bend.... Still sharp af.... Should I send it back to Kershaw for a repair?
A utter great show guys, REALLY CRUSHING On the CIVIVIS .. Just can’t decide liking the Backlash w/G10, the Aquila w/G10, and still waiting for the Elementum to come back in stock. I love sort of long thin blades. There is something really elegant about them. Nice :) what I love more than a high quality knife is a knife with a story
Hey Jeff
Every knife I own has a story.
Jeff getting a heart from Blade HQ makes me actually really happy.
Dude I love your videos!
@@dieseldabz7104 nice
I genuinely felt bad when I heard the gerber multi tool story.
Me too

The Buck 110 is such a classic design. I want an auto real bad.
It's worth it. If you can shave for the s35vn it's even better.

@@BladeHQ its perfect haha.also im sure theres a few "OH YEAAHHH" kinda people that get the same feeling
And now we know why Zac's dad went out for cigarettes and was never seen again....
🤣🤣🤣 Pop Pop is that you? -Zac
Grabs popcorn, beer and favourite fidget knife, it's time for knife banter!
Definitely wanna see the SAK mods, I carry a black Tinker for the Phillips. Having a No2 Phillips on me at all times is now a necessity

I love Kurt’s reaction when Zac flipped that Bali not realizing it wasn’t a love blade 😂
love SAK's, especially victorinox so never stop the mentions and they have so many great designs and options.
OMG I thought I was the only one with a "BENCHMARK PARATROOPER" I'm so pumped others have that I don't care I want it attitude towards blades like that
I have some old Frost Cutlery knives from my childhood that I'll trade for that 110 Auto.
🤣🤣 Tempting but I think I'll stick with what I got. -Zac
Zac has a really cool knife collection it totally suits him! 😎
Film a range day and show your gun collection next!
BladeHQ not GunHQ lol. But still a cool idea 😂

Juicy EDC I grew up using them so much, it’s not a problem. Kind of an “only way I know it” kind of thing.
@Juicy EDC Bad. We feel bad. Don't even get me started on fixed pocket clips.
Ya see, flippers and most button locks are perfectly fine (I’m a lefty$
Frost Cutlery Pirana Bowie 😂 I found one in my grandma's garage when I was 12 and I'm pretty sure I still have it in a box somewhere

I agree with D2 and M390. D2 was my first "nice" steel...and now I'm a M390 boi.
Mine was s30v
I have never used m390, i have s35vn and its great for me. Is m390 any better?
