Vintage Hoover S7053 Commercial Celebrity Canister Vacuum Unboxing & First Look

- Here’s a rather filthy red and chrome commercial Celebrity cleaner I found on eBay that polished up pretty well in the video. The cloth bag was full of dirt, dog hairs and what I later discovered to be coal dust that nearly ruined my living room carpet. The hose is now whiter than white but the vacuum still needs a thorough clean and a full set of tools. Oh, the bits sticking out the back of the machine are to wrap the cord around, not feet to stand the cleaner on its end. I thought I’d mention it here as I know I will get several people pointing it out.

Here's a rare sight to behold
I think those two feet at the back as well as being for storage of the cord help support the lid when it's in the open position to the back of the base so it doesn't hit the floor
Maybe those two black “feet” on the back of this cleaner are meant to just secure the cord when wrapped around the unit for storage…it looks like the cord is wrapped around the handle and these two protrusions.
They are for cord storage, I realised after filming the video. The cord wraps around the handle and the feet.

I would most definitely concur with the date of 1980. The Celebrity was introduced in 1974. This was technically the 3rd generation of Celebrity here in the US, and ran from about 1980, to around 1984. The model that was offerd here came standard with a Powermatic powerhead. But since it was commercial, it did not have a self contained power hose. The hose you have is correct, but there would have been an external cord that was strapped to that hose for the power head. I have the matching Guardsman upright to that cleaner! The official Hoover color was light Commercial Red.
According to google, the power nozzle colour is red same goes with the small cleaning tools. Hope it's useful for you, Mr. Ibaisaic.

Delightful fun video ...you are really spoiling us! It looks like a big electric fry pan and cover. Very peculiar shape for a commercial vacuum. You did a beautiful job of polishing. I polish my upright Miele as well. Still absolutely as new.

They look like there for stability for the lid when opened 🙂

You're lucky to have 240v appliances and tools. Way more powerful than what we have here in the US.
Mate there no more powerful it’s just different voltage and amperage like you have 110v and about 60amps we have 240v 13amps the amps times voltage is the watts you can have out of 1 socket so this machine is identical wattage to the American one!
@@jamesdanielsfanpage7610 oh cool, thanks for clearing that up. Over here, 240v is very powerful and is usually only used in very large machinery or industrial lighting.
