    50 euros a day? LOL no that's way too much. 20-30 is pretty good.

    • @93hickey
      @93hickey 8 років тому +2

      I think i spent like 40 a day including flights, interrail ticket and staying in fairly good hostels. you'd be ball'n on 50 a day.

    • @JohannesDaehn
      @JohannesDaehn 8 років тому +1

      I agree. I usually plan about 250€/week in Southern Europe (inclusive everything except for flights); I prefer to stay in cheap hostels, they usually have lockers for all your stuff and the bathrooms are mostly okay as well - more expensive hostels aren't necessary the better choice; if I don't like a hostel I just move to another one nearby - that's a lot easier if you don't pre book them. My steps before I take the plane are: downloading offline maps of the places I want to go (I use this free app called citymapstogo) and booking one hostel just for the first night (so you don't have to worry about the first place you're staying and have people to talk to/ask for recommendations). Everything else figures out when it takes action.

      I can last a day with about 35 € staying at airbnbs with my girlfriend even at places like Venice and Paris. We've done pretty inexpensive trips that felt kinda luxurious like that. I don't know how people spend so much on travel. The only time went all out was in Japan which still was more affordable than I thought.

    • @RayaWasHere
      @RayaWasHere  8 років тому +28

      I personally did 30 euros a day as well but I didn't drink at all and I didn't really spend any money on activities. We said 50 because if people budget for that they should definitely have enough (and hopefully a bunch left over). You just never want to run out so it's worth budgeting for more! I also did it 5 years ago so wasn't sure if the prices have gone up. Didn't want to give advice and say too little and have a viewer listen to me run out of money haha

    • @93hickey
      @93hickey 8 років тому +10

      Not drinking is actually the easiest way to save money while traveling, well that or buying the cheapest alcohol available. My friend thought 1 euro litre bottles of wine were a good idea.... it wasn't. Then again his solution to getting a cold was eating a sandwich with about 10 cloves of raw garlic in it... Aww now I miss that trip. so much fun

      Sally Gearing The info is good for everyone, but the "Europe is not that much of a culture shock" premise is what brought on my comment. Europe is a HUGE culture shock for Africans and Asians.

    We went to England in mid April and there were days where I needed shorts and there were days (in the peak district) where I needed a winter jacket. The weather changes so much, especially in the higher elevations. I loved it though because there weren't very many tourists 😁

    Great tips guys! However 50 Euros a day is way too much you can survive on way less probably like 30 Euros. Also if you want to go to a museum/attraction they are normally free on one day/afternoon a week. Best flights for within Europe is Ryanair, they are cheap and cheerful but always on time and ridiculously cheap! I would agree that Italy can be expensive even for hostels but I didn't find attractions or eating out expensive there at all. Italy is expensive if you want it to be. Cheapest place I went to was Poland and my favourite time to visit Europe is June. 😀

    well, come to finland at midsummer and you gonna see lot of drunk people, beautiful bonfires and probably end up spending the whole day inside bc of the rain and +10 degrees outside. next day, you can entertain yourself by reading local newpapers and counting how many people drowned the night before. some people also like to try and wake up their inner dragon by jumping in a bonfire. should be a blast!

    Raya you're lovely. I wonder if the hostels in Europe have age limits. Some of your fans are much older than you and have a way smaller budget 😜😜

      I haven't heard of any with age limits? There were people from all ages staying there when I was there (at 18) and I had the tiniest budget imaginable for my backpacking trip haha I bar tended for months saving up for it!

      +RayaWasHere Thanks that makes me feel better I'm not as young as I once was lol. I'm glad to hear you encountered people of all ages. Thanks for sharing your videos, I always look forward to seeing them. Lots of love.
      PS I'm so excited to see where you go with your channel. Did you see Shots of Awe on UA-cam? They have a video called "the Big Picture" I thought you'd like it. 🙏🏻❤️
