    Whatever you guys were shouting, come and shout that at me when I'm rowing. Every little helps.
    Fantastic performance

    Brilliant, it's made me want to dust mine off and get back on it at age 59! Hell yeah!🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇

    I didn't understand more than a few words, but heck yeah, that dude could row! My record is 34 strokes per minute on a Pro-Form indoor rower and I am pretty sure that is about 1/2 the speed Joel Naukkarinen did in the video. Way to set a new record 👍

    Is anyone gonna comment about how annoying those frequent transitions were?

    at this pace, 1min is a really long painful effort!

    Guess he's got another pair of shoes just like those at home. Seriously, well done. Touch out of my league as I'm 72. One can dream.

    That's about double what I normally do in 1 min, but I typically row 5k-6k per workout so I am trying to pace myself. Even if I went all out for 1 min I'd be lucky to get 300m. You have my respect.

    Was that a 52 stroke rate?? Wow.. I don't think I had hit 45...

    he needs to do it again. HIs feet are probably two holes too high. He could get more leg push into it if he lowers the foot cages.

    • @omniphage9391
      @omniphage9391 2 роки тому

      i have very little idea about rowing, but his technique seems to be everything ppl tell me not to do, pull arms early, open back early, like he probably could get better leverage if he paid more attention to form, no?

    • @monkeyb1820
      @monkeyb1820 2 роки тому

      @@omniphage9391 I think it's pretty normal for people to knowingly use crappy form when going for these short duration records. Eg. look up vid of strongman Brian Shaw on the erg. He's using lousy form--but he's super strong and I think he sets a record. So for these 100% exertion short record situations, bad form is ok. But if someone is doing a 2k or longer, they should really focus on good form b/c it will lead to better times.

    • @afterthesmash
      @afterthesmash Рік тому

      A longer stroke length requires a slower pace and even _more_ force during each stroke. At a 1:12 pace, I'm not sure I would be signing up for a higher force curve just for the sake of "good" technique.

    • @monkeyb1820
      @monkeyb1820 Рік тому

      @@afterthesmash his technique for a short-duration speed attempt is actually pretty good. But his feet are really high up. Maybe he deliberately likes them up high like that. I still think he could shave a second or two off his time by lowering his feet.

    Not speaking even ONE word of Finnish, but that yelling must be the very special way of say kind things by using bad words and putting loud voice to it.

    Poor technique. Could probably go faster if he actually rowed slower but with better-delivered force.
