      @@lmc4964 because most of these rowers train in boats on the water as well as on the indoor rowing machine, there’s very little real bulking. they keep a relatively consistent body weight and try to get the best weight:power ratio possible. In most countries when you can’t get on the water and race, you get on the erg and get fit

    • @Paladin5491
      @Paladin5491 2 роки тому +19

      Weight training is absolutely crucial! For the lower body you want to focus on squats, deadlifts, leg press, and then supplement that with maybe some plyometric exercises. For the upper body you’ll want to do pull-ups, LOTS of rows with barbells/dumbbell/cables, bench pulls are an old fashioned staple, and bench press. You can incorporate overhead press, bicep curls, and some triceps extensions as well. And because there are a myriad of core exercises, you can mix them up BUT rollouts and planks are essential. Hope that helps! If you’re wondering, I used to row and that is what was on the lifting “schedule” for the team.

      @@Paladin5491 I came to the Concept2 on the back of a lot of cardio fitness mostly cycling and had started lifting. Covid messed things up a bit. have to say its tricky lining everything up. lots of zone 2 and 3 cardio and being an intermediate lifter is a good start. I'm taking a little break from the concept2 at the moment but I am doing some time/volume training, 40min max reps on a trap bar at 55% 1RM, im seeing great improvements in that output, I hope Ill see some transfer back to the rowing later.
