I always wanted to attend one of these meets , never did. My opinion , these r the original Street outlaws.

I had this on vhs and lost it over the years. I tell you who I miss is Chuck Samuels in that bad 3rd gen Camaro riding a wheelie for seemed like forever. Gene Deputy in that turbo mustang and the teal green turbo grand national called tweaked.

Very true on the Rego owner. Gene brought his turbo mustang to the shoot out. I think the only turbo at this shoot out. Very cool Flow Master shoot outs.

I remember all of those cars in the Super Street class. My favorite class was Real Street.

It's amazing how 27 years later, Drag Week (Both Hot Rod and Rocky Mountain) has taken it to levels they never thought of when this happened. instead of 25 miles to qualify for one race, they drive hundreds of miles from one track to the next for a solid week. and can only win if they complete the full week with time slips from each race. not only that but the 7 second times from Hammond would not be top dog these days. The last one (Rocky Mountain Race week 2.0) there were 5 cars that were not only faster, but were faster on consecutive days. There were even two Toyota Supra's, with 2jz's that were in the 7.50's or faster (One of which even hit 7.20's). I love seeing progression in a sport. BTW i did not mention Tom baileys 5 second promod, because that was last year and the reference was for the current (this yea) race series. But a car that is tagged and technically legal (depending on state) running a 5.99 is seriously impressive

I miss this type of racing

Yes. I miss the old NMCA racing of the 90s badly. As competition and money force the hand of evolution, all racing goes the way of NASCAR and loses its cool factor.

Sadly I was born after this great generation of racing, but my mom and dad have most if not all the ihra races on vhs and those are my favorite

That’s me at 14:17 with the black cap on standing behind Tom Hammonds, went over to Memphis for the race and ran into the guy standing with me Charles Burnett, who was good friends with Tom Hammonds and I got to hang out with them for the whole weekend, man we had a good time. All the regulars that were racing in this race were scared of Tom because they knew he had a faster car so they went over his car with a fine tooth comb, looking for anything they could find, and the only thing that they could find was Tom’s seat was back too far because he was 6 foot 10 so he ended up in the secondary race and as karma would have it one of the main guys that protested him couldn’t make the drive and ended up in the race with Tom. and got his ass whooped in his 55.

@@williswhatchutalkinbout4367 I ended up changing my channel name because I was invaded by smart-ass 12 year olds that think they know everything about cars even though they've only played Need for Speed online at they're mommy's house! They'll probably be living in they're mom's basements well into their 40's!
