I wish someone would make a documentary like this about my uncle Mack Vickery, he wrote with Hank Cochran and others and was a very successful and respected songwriter.
I remember seeing your uncle on a tribute to Sue Brewer. There’s a 5 part thing on UA-cam where a bunch of legends got together after Sue died. This had Waylon, Willie, Hank jr, Kristofferson and more.
I sat around and picked and sang in Nashville many times with your uncle Mac! He was a very talented and entertaining guy. Mac was really close friends with one of my best friend, Steve Oliver. Mac certainly new how to entertain. He was always “on!” Loads of fun! RIP Mac! We miss you man.
I got blessed, thanks to Joe Gilchrist at the Flora Bama, I was able to meet and pick with amazing songwriters from Mickey Newberry, Hank Cochran, Freddie Powers, Sonny Throckmorton on & on yes I've been blessed!
At least there are some, my uncle Mack Vickery was just as successful and very well respected and there are none for him. Be co wrote several hits with Hank Cochran as well.

These artist ate family first. These people all have made there Fame by recording songs wtitten by Hank Cockran. Even son of Kieth Whitley don't just like his Dady.they all got need stories Great to do this while every one can show him there love and gratitude. Not later after people have passed..kids now days in countryusic don't have the first idea. Whatakes great song writing and great Country talent .I am the husband of Ray Prices . 2nd cousin on his dad's side .And 1st cousin to Song writer Grady. Rollins Hats off to all these who attended There's nothing anymore heart felt than to see him honored in this way.. 👍🎶🎸🎶🇱🇷🍀🥀🌟
It’s a given fact that we’re all going to die , but great men leave a mark that all can see or hear. Thanks to all the song writers and performers that we all grew up with. Through the tears and sunshine you were there.
@Charlie Peacock, Thank you for making this documentary, and thank you for sharing it. Their stories fade without curators like yourself who cares enough to get some of it together for the world to share.
Wont say just yet who I’m talking about, but years ago I was listening to one of these artist years ago with a friend. My buddy said, “Who the hell is that guy?” I told him the guy’s name, and said he is great singer/songwriter, to which my buddy replied, “Oh...so he’s a nobody, huh?” So I said, “Well hell. Let’s just listen to good ol’ George Strait.” We then so put on his greatest hits recordings and some of his most popular hits. My buddy said, “Now HE is great singer/songwriter. That guy you were listening to will never amount to nothing.” So I said, “You’re right... he only WROTE every damn George Strait song you’re listening to. And not only are you listening to them, you’re singing along to them.” Yep, it was DEAN DILLON. My buddy INSTANTLY became a Dean Dillon fan.
Thanks for sharing this! I love it - it makes me feel like I am sitting by watching all these great artists share songs and stories in an intimate setting - made me want to get up and hug Merle. Thank you, thank you.
Came to Canada in January 1969 from Scotland and after a few days I went looking for Country Music albums (Vynils) A 'Bargain Bin' in a local Variety Store had some 'unknowns' to me. Waylon Jennings, Hank Cochran and some others. I bought five or six albums at 99c EACH! and on one Hank Cochran album I found a GEM! a song I've sung ever since those cold January Canadian nights, "ALL OF ME BELONGS TO YOU!" I loved it from the first play and Hank's writings ever since, a GREAT in Country Music. Thank you for sharing this.
I figured you could get that many Legends in one room if you tried but I never figured that many egos would fit in one room without a fight breaking out. Well he'll Waylon ain't there Johnny's long gone of course the possums is technically not dead he's pickled, if you know what I mean. I wish I could sit with just any one of those Legends 4 minutes in a phone booth. But they don't have phone books anymore. Turn that one into a hit song Hank. Search Legends and a couple soon-to-be Legends. That long-haired blonde headed guy George Strait still paying him checks. The Best of the Best
I see elvis Costello here. I got to meet him once in memphis. He's a scholar of music history and appreciation. Very nice guy.

…Would Love to here it
Imagine Hank Cochran & Dean Dillon together on a boat in the Caribbean writing songs.
I love that story. Dean is such a good storyteller.
This guy's hits preceded his name; He & Harlan together must have owned every damned jukebox in the country! They surely must've filled 'em!
I see Carl Jackson picking in the back & I do believe that Red Lane was there in the green shirt? Nice memories there!

All of these are "Greats". Thank God for Country. Real Country.
Merle really honored Hank for his talent as a songwriter!
Merle and that acoustic
I don't know much but I do know it would be a pleasure to meet with all of y'all.
Thanks for sharing this video. What a great songwriter Hank was and this is one of the few tributes I've seen to him.

Great job Jamey. Too bad "the voice" is gone on. Vern was one of the greatest.
Love Jamey Johnson, too!!! So special to see this.....wow!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I really enjoyed this video.
Seems like the only time Merle shows any expression is when he's performing.
The best that every been…
Bravo.Good work. Congratulations.
Wonderful
If Hank wrote the lyrics who wrote the music? Is there a number to put on how many Hank wrote?
it's never inappropriate to sing "t.b. blues" if you're merle. rip both of you.
Excellent job on this. I could have watched 2 hours of this easy.. Who's speaking at 28:00 mins?
Charlie do you know if they honored Merle Haggard like this?
I wonder if they did anything like this for Merle?

🧡
Hey what did BB sing? I dont remember which song he was speaking of.
Don't forget Vern Gosdin
3:00
Where is George Strait?
Does a singer get the lyrics than put their own music to the words?
Something like that ..
