listen love to hear merle talk. What a very special person he was. has music will always be with me. I was lucky enough to see him three times. he will always be my number one singer
R.I.P. MERLE, YOU TOUCHED SO MANY PEOPLE WITH YOUR SONGS, AND YOU TOUCHED SO MANY PEOPLE WITH YOUR BIG HEART FOR THE COMMON MAN, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN I AM GLAD THAT GOD PUT YOU ON THE PLANET FOR US TO ENJOY YOU, COUSIN FIGEL
I got the grandest opportunity to visit with Hank at his home and I've met Merle once at a show, two super duper great guy's and legends, will never ever be anyone like those in this time era, they came from a complete different time era that influenced them to be that incredible way. They're greatly missed.
Saw him in Charlotte NC in 1976 , when he came on stage ' He said ' I feel a little funny and he asked the audience ' Are my eyes red? The audience cracked up 😂. He had a sense of humor.
I DONT SAY OTHER I LOVE THE OLD AND BEAUTIFULL MAN BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST COUNTRYMAN AND COUNTRYSONG AND COUNTRYMUSIC... LOVE FOREVER RIP love 😩😩❤️❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
Love this and the Hank Cochran cd is fantastic. Loneliness is Eating Me Alive is one of my favorites and didn't realize it was a Hank Cochran tune. Thanks!
Yes, he didn't age well for someone who was the most handsome guy singing and will always be. What a shame with all the talent he had that the first "reform school" did their job and encouraged him to sing and they didn't do a darn thing for him except make him want to escape the so-called reform school. Shame on them.
I spent fifteen years on the road and I wore out so many Haggard cassette tapes. Lol. And I was lucky enough to meet him after a concert he did in 2003. I was determined to get him to sighn my telecaster. Outside his bus he said " How about you hold it up and I'll sighn it". And that is (one of my favorite memories of all).
I was just a hillbilly cowboy from Oklahoma and heard My Friends Are Going To Be Strangers in 1966, I think, and I didn’t know who it was, but then by 1969 I was trying to sing every song Merle recorded. The bottom line Merle is the best there is, that I’ve ever heard in all areas of a song. I’ve recorded at Fireside a lot.
These interviews are all to similar. The youngster doing the interview is always so nervous or afraid to ask good questions. With Merle all you need to do is bring up a topic & wait for the great story. He always has a dandy. Sure gonna miss this great gentleman.
not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me atm you can watch pretty much all of the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my brother these days =)
Wow- loved this --back in the very early 1980's my 2 COUSINS & I would go to the RENO RODEO EVERY YR,, & we would take in a show & 3 times it was the one & only MERLE HAGGARD--, he puts on such a good show,-- my MOM LOVED MRELE--her song was " BIG CITY , TURN ME LOOSE SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF MONTANA""-- I love his song "" Silver Wings"" , but I love all of them👍👍, we also saw GEORGE STRAIGHT- our other FAV 👍, & we loved LANE FROST who we saw at the RENO RODEO before he went to Cheyenne Fronteir Days & ultimately died there😥, I have a LANE FROST Cowboy bible with a personal message in it from ELSIE & CLYDE FROST ,, him momma & daddy & I cherish it🙌 R.I.P. to all of them 🕊🕊🕊😇🎶🎶🎵🎵

This is from the Reel Cool Films / Toppa-Poppa-Jons documentary, "Hank Cochran: Livin' for a Song" Wesley Pryor of Reel Cool Films, who directed, is the voice you hear.
Classic; …………..!!!!!!!!!! Well If you’re A young 😮man with dreams of being a Songwriter. You’d want to study from the best. Then learn word smithing from Hank Corcoran. Or mighty Merle.to Bill Anderson. Because the words are everything. “Words Are everything “And the second Verse must be just as strong as the first verce……. Don’t ever sell short your second verse.Learn how to craft a SONG. Like Mickey Newberry’s San. Francisco Mabel Joy….CLASSIC Or Like Joni Mitchell’s on “ Both Sides Now” classic…… Word Smithing as I Like To Call It . Well That’s Everything Right There. I’m just Looking for A Way To Turn A Phase 🎼🙏🙏🙏🎼🎺🎺
Truth! I have been struck by how many young singer-songwriters these days have wonderful voices and production is often top notch but the lyrics seem to be mere descriptions of a place or situation...no point of view. Not many know how to "turn a phrase", to paint a picture that draws you into the song. If you would like to watch "Hank Cochran: Livin' for a Song", the documentary this footage was shot for with many iconic tunesmiths, here is the link. Enjoy! And Merry Christmas!! vimeo.com/122839742

So great to see...Nearly 4 years now. Lost my Mother, my dog and Merle in the same damn week, never forget that week.
Sad.
Thank goodness for technology we have his recordings.
Love this and the Hank Cochran cd is fantastic. Loneliness is Eating Me Alive is one of my favorites and didn't realize it was a Hank Cochran tune. Thanks!
That must have a good joint. Wish I could have gotten in on that one. Take a toke, hold the smoke and let it blow your mind.
Enjoy Merle talking almost as much as singing!
And what you wrote is so very true mam..
A man with a sad, painful, younger life, that he never got over.
Merle lost his dad at the tender age of 9.
Will be remembered for the NEXT 100 yrs a great performer.

Merle lost his father at 9 but nowadays father's just leave their children before they turn 9 what a sad state of affairs
man that will make you think...country music today doesn't have a clue
It’s cause they try to be bro country and not life experience country
There is NO COUNTRY MUSIC, IT IS CUNTRY. TO HEAR ANYTHING "COUNTRY" IT IS NOW CALLED "AMERICANA".
@@libertarianlife3651 I agree 100%. Americana separates great music from commercial country music.
Damnit I miss Merle!!!! I saw him twice and once bought 4seats for two asses!!!! Best money I ever spent!!!!
How could these people put a Thumbs Down??
They are little stump or pump fans.
Bc they have no clue who merke was and true country music
Merle
I sure did love the Hagg..

It was 2009. Sorry for the late reply. Missed the comment.
So they couldn’t get Hank on camera I guess. Maybe a contract dispute lol.!

How you spelling that.😂
Tu vai cantar ou não lindo..........vou aprender inglês eu entendo das risadas porque é uma linguagem universal
Course there’s a great Johnny Paycheck song called “help me Hank I’m falling”. Mentions A11 in the song

Too bad about the questions.
He didn't smoke marijuana on the Colorado .
No, apparently not as he wasn't on the boat that went ashore that time. But he did smoke marijuana later on in his life.
Hmmmm bet he did
