People please, please be careful who you date. At the first sign of violence leave them. Do not stay with them, it will get worse, you can not change them. Learn how to protect yourself, and make your home safer. Get alarms, cameras, etc. Amie's sounds like a wonderful, loving person, and her friends, and family loved her. The world is less dim because her light was taken away.

ikr! i grew up watching my mom get the crap beat out of her so whenever i hear a woman scream or yell, i'm heading in that direction before i even have a thought as to what's going on. i would be damned if i could witness or at least hear a woman in distress and not do anything. i know everyone reacts differently to violence but his statement in the beginning ''i knew i had to make a break for it'' says he was scared and trying to get out of there but had he even tried to help her, she may still be here.

@@belladonna5904 that is not the point. It's not a matter of asking if what he did was logical. It's asking if it was normal. Is it a normal reaction? It's certaintly not. The natural reaction is to rush to her defense. Does it mean he lied? Not necessarily but it does make you wonder.

I disagree. He failed. Survivors guilt for sure, but he listened to his friend and roommate being beaten to death and ran away. He is an outright coward. He can never be trusted again. He proved he cannot be relied up when it matters. Zero instinct to help or protect. His instinct was to protect himself. Selfish beyond doubt. All the sudden when police are with him he cares to help, when he is useless at that point. Strange. I hope he pushes to change that, or tries perhaps. It is maddening to think she may have thought "my friend/roommate is right downstairs. I just gotta stay alive long enough" It's wonderful that God forgives. Just my opinion though.

I could not sit there and hear screaming and not run to her room to help her. He said he couldnt find his phone to call 911 but they wouldnt have gotten there fast enough. Every home should have a home defense gun/weapon. I walked in on a home invasion in my home. I sleep with a gun now. And a Belgian Malinois. I just could not sit there hearing my roommate/friend scream and not react. Of course it's easy to do a "post mortem" but let us use this horrifying , tragic death as a tool to save future victims. Even getting a big dog helps. I pray her family finds peace knowing their precious daughter is with God, doing therapy in Heaven. May she Rest in Peace.

How sad. The guy obviously needed help and he never got it, let’s face it his obsession wasn’t with correct thinking. She was beautiful and didn’t need to die.

This case is heartbreaking. However the defense has nothing but bad facts to work with and an obligation to vigorously defend their client. I would rather have them smear the victim a little bit than not if it helps a conviction stick.

It's impossible to definitively say how many people were killed by individuals who were themselves killed by nicotine, as there are no reliable statistics tracking such a specific scenario; however, the most relevant example would be the case of Erzsébet Papp, also known as "The Nicotine Killer," a Hungarian serial killer who poisoned four people with nicotine, leading to her own execution for her crimes.
    Key points to remember:
    No large-scale data exists:
There is no comprehensive data tracking deaths caused by people who were themselves killed by nicotine poisoning.
    Erzsébet Papp case:
The only well-known instance where someone directly killed others using nicotine poisoning is the case of Erzsébet Papp, who murdered four people.
Nicotine is primarily lethal through smoking:
Most deaths related to nicotine are due to long-term tobacco use, not direct poisoning of others.

Why did he refer to her as a roommate? There was two separate apartments within one building. Stalking laws have to be changed and judges need to take the issue of stalking more seriously no matter what the job of the the complainant. I think when the first judge saw that she was a sex therapist, he ignored the seriousness of her concerns. I believe she would still be alive if that first protective ordered had been in place.
