The look Heather gave David when Dan knocked her to the floor must have haunted him, you can hear it in his voice, and knowing he could have saved her at that moment probably haunted him even more, hence his confession.
All David DeWilde had to do was to call Heather and tell her or even to tell her to run before she got out of the car. He could have saved her life. What a gutless wonder. And he could have kept his brother from becoming a murderer.

I'm sorry, but if I had been a juror in Jade's case, I'd have had a real problem convicting her of anything but manslaughter. This man was literally more than a step father to her. He was basically her full time father since she was a child. He was the person in a position of trust over the well-being of of his step daughter. What he did was sick, sick, sick! No one knows how a betrayal like that would affect them. She should have called the police absolutely. Unfortunately, she was so horrified she was probably in ahock. She made a huge mistake, but I believe she was in shock, unable to think clearly, and horrified by the thought that the man who raised her, the man she thought of as her full time dad, was secretly recording her in her most vulnerable state. It's disgusting. I mean, the guy literally invaded her home and had a camera viewing her in her shower! It's sick. I'm pretty sure he also had a camera on her bed, too, which captured her with her boyfriend, but it's been so long since I heard this story that I'm not sure. I love "48 Hours," but the content is really shortened for time, and it's usually just the bare bones and high points of the story. I remember watching a much longer video about this case a few years ago. Her biological father wasn't really present in her life, but her step father really took up the slack. Everyone adored him, including Jade. She loved him and trusted him, and that's why she was the one caring for him. He'd been getting sicker and sicker for a long time. I don't think he had any kind of home health care. And the photos he'd taken of her went back years. It's a sad case, and I wish the jury would have put themselves in her place, or thought about what they would do if someone did that to their daughter. I think she should have gotten some level of manslaughter, but I don't know if the prosecutor offered the jury anything but 1st degree.
There’s a debate that the pictures was a made-up excuse she made for killing so she would get leniency just like you would have considered doing. The cops searched the computers deleted hardware and there were no pictures.. not even deleted picture files like she claims she deleted them.. interesting debate.

The prosecutor went along with her story about the photos despite their being no evidence is because it gave her a 'motive'. It is unlikely that she would have been found guilty with out the storyline of revenge... There is likely an unknown motive for Jade but the idea that she managed to delete those photos without trace considering that technicians can retrieve deleted data from a computer seems very far-fetched. The Police computer forensic technician testified that they found one topless photo but it had no face; Jade claimed that the photo was her because she recognised a mark on the breast that she also had.

Then she puts his dead body on the driveway under a bunch of garbage to conceal it. If she didn't do him in then why would she try to cover it up? So guilty.

Idk how I feel about the first case. I 100% believe her with the photos. I believe a better defense would have been her admitting to doing it and that being the reason why. The defense can prove they existed. Crime of passion. I personally would report it and have no interaction with that man again. I’d never be the same if I knew my “dad” had such things. She went out shopping and that is why she was found bound and thrown by the side of the road, her car abandoned at an apartment complex, when she had told her parents she was going over to Daniel's for paperwork, etc. It was crazy how the defense thought anyone would buy their story.
I apologize if someone has already left a similar comment, but I find it extremely difficult to believe that a 14-year old would call her new stepfather “dad” when her biological father was still alive and actually came to court to defend her! She said he came into her life when she was a little girl. Something was very odd about that relationship! And, not one word about her mother/his ex-wife? Also, the reporter kept talking about their “apartments” and not houses. Were both properties divided into several apartments? It didn’t look to be the case.
In the third story, the mailwoman is nuts. I have had horses for about 17-18 years and many of my friends have horses and we have all had injuries that could probably be mistaken as DV by someone who’s never really dealt with such large animals. Dani just wanted Ray to go away. Trauma or not, you call 911. I don’t believe her at all.
Her story made ZERO sense. If your stepfather was so sick you couldn’t get him in the house, YOU CALL 911. She really thought she had created such a convoluted story that she would get away with it.
That defense attorney for Dani was indeed a cracked pot. Saying she feared he would come back to life after he was clearly dead. Come on man. Sorry but your client is a psychopath.
My children are grown with their own now and I can tell you it's worse as a grandmother. My friend has twins and they were in this kids school last year being the same age. Last year the police went through his house and had to tell the parents of the threats he had been making, and this was last year. Now this year he was moved to another county school. I was so relieved. I don't know if you can get the record of the police visit but I saw some of it. He already was in possession of this gun. Which is what happened in Michigan. All my boys have guns and they're all in a gun vault that nobody can get into except the one person. Even the wife can't get in. I personally think this may have something to do with the charges against the dad. The mom just got out of jail (drugs) and she wasn't in the picture anyway. Apparently the gun wasn't in a vault at home but there was a case that could lock. I think the dad was not as diligent as he should have been. I'm not sure how I feel about a parent going to jail. I mean where is the end of that fall? If I let my child drive in a parking lot and she's not old enough and has not permit or license and she has a wreck into another car, am I going to jail. I think I know i would be monetarily responsible. I just don't know so I'm with you. I just don't know. Now my boys say that dad belongs in jail .....
Why go yourself to a place that could be unsafe? All that paperwork could have been done through their lawyers. She did not have to show up physically to take care of any of that business. We know by now that it's better not to revisit after we have asked for a divorce--especially with a loose cannon like Daniel.
I would have been scolded by the judge in Dani's trial had I been a juror...I would have been laughing out loud watching the reenactment tape...I wonder if Dani thought her ridiculous story and character flaws were actually going to yield a not guilty verdict...???

And to think that he was still moving, 'attempting' to harm her, after having just been shot 5x by her? That's no longer self-defense. I would say that SHE was the abuser, not him. You tell the investigators who are showing up for a welfare check, based on a text that she sent out to his family members that her dog killed Ray, and then goes and tells them they can search anywhere BUT the truck box. I'd be asking... 'WHY not there?' It's like the Warners in Iowa. He tells the investigators that they can search anywhere, take the cadaver dogs anywhere on the property, BUT the barn that her remains were eventually found in, in an anhydrous ammonia storage tank that he had cut open, put her body in, and welded it shut so that it would appear intact, that was stored in that barn. Uh, duh?
Her testimony alone convicted her after listening to her testimony! 😢

I can not imagine how much patience Heather's retired LE father must have had to wait so long for justice for his daughter. I can't imagine the frustration he must have had when the case went cold and they begged to have it reopened with no evidence. RIP Heather

A new episode!! Yes!! Going to watch this cause its too hot to be outside. Watching fr Texas.
Hey Texas!! Yes it's too hot, Mississippi here, have a daughter in Texas and son in Arizona. Definitely too hot in the south!! Have a great/cool weekend ❤
In the South here also, virginia. It has been quite cool for the past 2 weeks and no air conditioning just ceiling fans and open doors. Love it. Unfortunately in August of 2024 this should not be the type of weather that we would normally be having and the orange man with the presidential name before him he's so totally ignorant of climate change that I don't know what will ever convince him.
@@peppiholliday4525good job turning this political 🙄
pretty sure he’s not controlling the outside
Yep this summer has been absolutely brutal!! I’ve lived here my whole life and I could hardly stand it. I’m ready for fall 🥵
Danny's memory of shooting Ray was remarkable except for when she pulled the trigger. How convenient
She must not have watched 48 Hours 😒. All she had to do was say he died on way home from rehab place and called 911 🙄🙄
Watching from Botswana 🇧🇼
I think Jade is an addict too. And why not just call the police if he died> so twisted
If she took that defense, I believe her sentence would have been much less.
I totally agree. Those photos SHATTERED her soul. The evilness of it.
@@orlandoromero22 And he lived next door. She wasn't gonna be able to cut him out of her life. Also, his house was such a weird shape, with the offset addition to the rear. And her house next door was completely hidden by woods.
That's not a crime of passion though.
@@orlandoromero22 What he allegedly did was not as evil as what she actually did. He’s not here to answer any questions after all. Whatever happened you can bet there’s more to the story no one else will ever know about.
Exactly 💯
These days you cant even trust the real fathers let alone a stepdad
Who trusts step dad's? 😂😂😂
Or stepdaughters apparently lol
you shoot someone five times in the chest while they are laying on their right side in bed, and then somehow they then end up in a seated position at the end of the bed? how does that work?
Exactly.
made me laugh
Regarding the second story: This is probably the dumbest defense idea I’ve ever heard. I actually laughed when the attorney was presenting it.
She went out shopping and that is why she was found bound and thrown by the side of the road, her car abandoned at an apartment complex, when she had told her parents she was going over to Daniel's for paperwork, etc. It was crazy how the defense thought anyone would buy their story.
Its just sad hearing that Heather will never be able to watch her kids grow up.
So grateful for my simple life, with my simple family.
The 2nd case made me sick, that Daniel twin ooh God he is despicable en disgusting, even physically
💯💯💯
You wonder how either of them could attract any woman.
You can search anywhere on this property you want, except that one box right there 🤣🤣💀
I think her message Telling Allen to lose her number meant. Don't ever call me or reach out again. You left me in a bind.
Exactly that is like telling someone to get lost. They want nothing to do with the person again.

Righttt,the relationship was sus.

Hello from São Paulo, Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
In the third story, the mailwoman is nuts. I have had horses for about 17-18 years and many of my friends have horses and we have all had injuries that could probably be mistaken as DV by someone who’s never really dealt with such large animals.
Dani just wanted Ray to go away. Trauma or not, you call 911. I don’t believe her at all.

It's 1 am in Germany now. 🙂

So happy my children were raised by their dad and me. No way would I let another man discipline my kids.
OMG, Ray’s daughter was stunningly gorgeous in her wedding pictures
Why would you ever bring your children with you to someplace you don't think you'd be safe?? I don't understand people's way of thinking sometimes
Denial
Why go yourself to a place that could be unsafe? All that paperwork could have been done through their lawyers. She did not have to show up physically to take care of any of that business. We know by now that it's better not to revisit after we have asked for a divorce--especially with a loose cannon like Daniel.

if even the photos were real, then why didn't she just go to the police, with the evidence!? Makes no sense... Not only that but I heard she actually destroyed the photos and got rid of the HDD.
