I just bought a 2011 SEL, 294K miles, put about 500 miles on it so far, no issues, engines smooth and quiet, taking me some time to get used to a 6 speed, but when I thought it was buggy, had a friend who knows them drive it and he declared it free of demons

Have a 2010 Edge since 2014, and other then the minor maintenance issues, plus the 100k tune up, she's been very reliable. It's a 2wheel drive and handles the mid west winters just fine. Almost to 200k! Have a 2007 Ford Freestyle getting closer to 200k, and the Freestyle gets 28-30 mpg! We have been across this continent twice in it. East to West North to South. Very reliable car/SUV/CRV station wagon. Both bought the same year.

Thank you for the video. I have a 2011 sport 3.7l Edge since 2 years. I had that ptu oil leeking from the van. I ask my mecanic to drill a drain plug to my ptu. Every oil service 15000km , he change the oil in the ptu. Its always very sluggish and black. Also had the power steering leeking issue. I love my Edge, very confortable and powerful.

2011 Limited I have. Only 95k. Much better ride & handling after set of new Michelin tires!! Bummer I did not research potential water pump replacement cost. $4-6k! Takes engine tear down. Change coolant fluid using new Motorcraft YELLOW. Also frequent oil changes. Very comfortable, well laid out dash, console control panel. Glad I got it.

I just bought a 2011 Ford Edge! Exactly the model displayed on here! 145xxx mi. I was skeptical bc of all you hear about Ford products, it's my first modern Ford.
But, after 2 weeks with her, I have to say it's been my favorite car I've ever owned! It's like brand new, drives so smooth & sporty. The newest car too. I especially love that it's a 2011, but the features make it fit in with modern vehicles (like touchscreen, backup cam, BT, ambient lights)

I'm looking into buying one very soon, I hope to test drive one at a dealer 1st before buying one from off the marketplace on facebook. Thanks for the video, I know what to look for when I find one. My main concern is how smooth is the ride? I have back issues and need a soft ride.

Generally this suv has a smooth ride. However, ride comfort can vary depending on factors such as the specific model year, trim level, and condition of the vehicle. Some owners and reviewers have noted that the ride can be a bit firm, especially over rough roads or uneven pavement. Additionally, models with larger wheels or sport-tuned suspensions may provide a less comfortable ride.
      Good luck with your purchase!

I just bought one for my son....flew to Texas and drove it home to Michigan.
They are nice riding even the one I picked which has 20" wheels. The 18" wheels would be a slightly smoother ride.
The weak link on these Edges/Explorers with the 3.5L V6 is the Water Pump and Timing Belt.
They need to be replace ever 100K otherwise risk it failing resulting in expensive repairs. If you can find one where it has been replaced it would be a bonus.

I ended up going with the Ford Flex. It has a much better ride and way more room. I love it, it's a 2017!

This car always has water pump issues

  • @peaje

It is suprising that the water pump was not mentioned..

    • @jamescox1806
      @jamescox1806 8 місяців тому

That's because most waterpumps in these last 175+ thousand miles before possibly becoming a problem! A lot of vehicles have timing belts that require a belt change at around 100k at a cost of $1,200-$1,600. The waterpumps on these edges don't fail as much as people fear they will!

The seats suck since they break and then if you can find parts it costs $1,000 just for the part. Won't buy a Ford again.
