I am confused on why the need to measure the old fluid if the transmission has a fluid level plug on the side wouldn’t you just fill the transmission up to this point? It would be nice to know about how much transmission fluid one would need to buy for this job also the type everything was reassembled splash shield etc. to do a test drive? Then re-check the fluids having to take all of that back apart?

That's the way most of these manufacturers tell you to do it on newer stuff. I find it silly. Why couldn't we stick to a conventional dipstick.

Because you can damage the undercarriage and more during the test drive, even by driving around the neighborhood.

@@rubendgr8 yep, don't want to have to pull the plug between warmups and flushes so you're better off just replacing what you remove until the final fill.

My Edge is a 2013. It’s got 74K miles on it. To have this done, can you give me an idea of what it should cost? I asked two places, and there is a $100 difference between the prices. Obviously I would go with the lower one, but I’m just curious what the price should maybe be. Thank you.

The 2010 edge I'm working on has a fill plug with a dipstick... I'm just using the dipstick for correct amount added

Does the transmission need to be a certain temperature when you check the side plug?

My 6 cyl looks nothing like this.

  • @charlotteantiquepowerengin6277

This is not correct for 2014 with 3.5L. There is a dipstick and no fluid level plug.
