Journey would not have had as much commercial success in the 80s without Steve Perry. No one was listening for Neal's guitar. Yes Cain, Perry & Schon made a great songwriting team. But the vocals made the songs great! When they found Arnel, they were blessed with another opportunity for success from another beautiful voice. I watched the Arnel documentary when it first came out. As a die hard Perry fan I didn't want to like Arnel, wanted the endeavor to fail. I know shame on me. But I couldn't help but like Arnel. That voice is beautiful as well as Steve's. He seems like such a genuine & sweet person. Watching that documentary it seemed to me then that THEY were treating him like he was a prop or a roadie or an extra. Even then I thought this fella deserves better. I'm surprised he's lasted as long as he has. Neal & Jon wouldn't have had as much success in their continued touring without Arnel. ARNEL has kept the classic JOURNEY sound alive for the new generations. Journey wouldn't have still been as successfully touring today without Arnel. I'll gladly support any solo work or new band Arnel is with, he's truly gifted! I hope he gets away & finds success & happiness & APPRECIATION!!
Not accurate. Neal's a fantastic guitarist and a great soloist that fit in perfectly with their sound. He was as essential a part of Journey's sound as Steve Perry's vocals and Cain's songwriting ability. Neal has been, it also seems, the problem with Journey as he's been at the center of most of their drama. Not that Steve Perry's strong personality and drive to control more of their sound had nothing to do with him leaving, but Schon really needs to learn to get along with others. They're too old for all this BS, at this point. It's embarrassing.

Really Schone…Pineda is already popular & awarded in Asian country. If you haven’t discovered Pineda on UA-cam… where do you think Journey now? You may get another singer but will not attract crowd as much as Pineda became the front man. It added more crowd from Asian population especially Pilipino crowd.
You don't have to be Asian to love Arnel, Perry's voice might have made Journey but Arnels voice and energy saved Journey. Otherwise what you say is true in as much as Arnel is most probably the one band member who could make as much as he does touring with Journey by doing gigs and tv work by himself. Asia has many good singers but Arnel is in a league of his own when it comes to international stardom. The fact that Arnel has stayed with Journey for so long whilst already a very wealthy man shows me that regardless of the infighting, racist comments and gruelling touring schedule it is difficult to walk away from a dream that has come true. I loved Journey with Perry and just as much with Arnel. Schon should realise that Journey's journey will be over if Arnel leaves.
I am so sick of the drama and general revolving door of Journey. Pick a line up (in particular a drummer), learn to get along (Schon/Cain), move forward, or just hang it up. They are already their own best cover band without Perry.

You're mis-stating what went on with Arnel being upset. It occurred on Twitter/X, and I was there for what happened. Arnel mistook Neal's comment to be about him, but it was a statement in reference to someone who was trolling Neal. Don't mislead!

If you've been to a show lately, SHE is the one on stage left creating a scene. Drawing attention to herself throwing out tees & sweatshirts and, as it was put in Blazing Saddles, making a spectacle of herself. ACTUALLY, if you happen to be on her side of the stage, she draws attention away from the show.
