I've been using this exact 8L unit now for I think 3 or 4 months. I'm an over the road truck driver and this unit works amazingly well for me in my truck. It doesn't use much power and with 3 60g bovedas or 1 150 65% (which is what I use) it's perfect. My truck gets warm sometimes and mine stays at between 62 and 66 at all times. But this is the smallest unit I could get, which is why I had decided to grab one. The 5 I already had are too big, so they stay home (I ONLY use these types of coolers, for the past 8 or so years). It works great. I love mine. Great video.
God bless
Curious how it's working 5 months later. I'm looking to buy this as well.
@@film_magician It still works great. I would just recommend using Boveda only though. Since it's a smaller unit and it's air tight, it's very easy to over humidify. This unit really only needs 1 of the 320g Boveda packs. But I use 1 big 1 on the bottom and a 60 or 2 mixed in with my cigars. But it works great. God bless
How do you always have the best reviews?! Thank you !
I have that same unit and love it.
It’s small, I wish I got one more size bigger. BUT, it’s well built, and has worked flawlessly for the past 6 months!
Did new season the cedar at all as this was coming up to temperature? And if so, did you leave them in the device as it was coming up, or did you put them in after it reached your desired temperature?
Thanks Tim that’s a great points to think about
Well I just bought the 8L I don’t keep more than 30-40 sticks so I think this will be fine. Amazon has a $15 coupon right now so I paid $115 not bad at all in my opinion considering my wooden desktop humidor is in the pantry and with the colder months coming I’m afraid my AC will dry out the sticks severely. Thanks Tim for reviewing this and helping me purchase this in time for winter!
Anyone notice the humidity hit over 80 while Tim was signing off LOL
Thanks for this review Tim. Something like this is right up my alley at this stage in my cigar game. I’m exactly where you said you would’ve liked to have started. I started out with a small, wooden desktop humidor. Looks cool and flows with my home office decor. However, it’s a pain to maintain the desired humidity with fluctuations of the seasons. Then got an acrylic humidor that holds the desired humidity, but looks eh. I really don’t have the space for an electric humidor that’s ‘bigger’. I think something like this fits my needs perfectly.
Yes
I'm in lower Michigan where we have large ambient temperature swings and constant low humidity. I seasoned mine (purchased as a Christmas gift based on this review) for around 10 days before adding cigars. I was using a 6"X2" Humi-Care humidifier with hydrated bead gels. The humidors internal humidity (both with built in reading and also I three a portable gauge in it) went berzerk over 90%. I wanted to make sure the cedar was fully saturated so I allowed a few days in the 90's%. For the next several days, I fought the humidity by removing the Humi-Care device and attempting to let the internal humidity settle. Instead...I fought with the humidity skyrocketing every time I put the Humi-Care device in it. THEN, I got a Boveda 69% (large) humidity pouch. The humidor has been perfect. Have no idea how long the pouch will last before it dries out but it's the better solution over fighting with gel beads.
Been waiting for this one. Almost got this one
I have the 44L and have to say I like it. I went with the big one because I like to store boxes in a humidor with a drawer to pull out of daily. And I can say the model I have hold.a box of filthy viking lanceros just fine.
I’ve hade my KC for a year now. No problem , runs 24/7. In the garage. For long turn cigar storage. ❤ the unit 50+ cigars long turn aging. Super easy I added a Bovada pack just to be safe.
Thank you!
Great review. I ended up ordering the KingChii 26L. Looking forward to setting it up.
Does the 26L have both led readouts like this one?
I’m sold!!!!
Edit: I've had this unit a week now, and while it's incredibly small, I am shocked by the quality. The buttons work nice, the door seals like a refrigerator, it's solid, the cedar is great quality and the hygrometer is fairly accurate and can be adjusted.
There wasn't much plastic smell, and I was able to season it fairly easily quickly. Using a Boveda pack, it's maintaining humidity quite well.
But I'll reiterate: this thing is REALLY small. Perfect for my needs, but I'm a very occasional smoker.
You got lucky i bought two of these and they reek of chinese plastic.
Gonna take me weeks to get rid of it 😕
I just bought mine. I like it so far. What if you turn the top shelf upside down to avoid your cigars rolling off
I just purchased one of these anything specific. I need to know before i get started. And do you have a video on how season these humidor?
I doubt it but I hope this gets a reply. I got this unit and set what temp I want and humidity I want. my question for someone educated in this is, the water tray at the bottom do I have to remove that tray once I get my wanted humidity or do i keep the tray in there till its almost out? I didn't know if this unit regulates its inner humidity with that water or if the humidity gage was just a gage and I have to regulate everything. thank you for reply in advance 😊
Please do a long term review. Please.
This is great for other things as well
My cigar room stayed around 68 all year but I have it setup that’s different from the rest of the house and I like wood cabinets/box humidors. My wife wanted to get me one for my birthday but I just don’t have the desire for one. I have 4 100-150 count humidors. And one that holds my box collections. My saying in life is the more gadgets you have the more problems you have KISS.
This thing looks right up my alley. But can it run Crysis?
kingchii 8l review .At first glance, I thought too small !! It's going back ,Then I started looking at all the slots it has and said to myself I can add a shelf to get more space, and well, that was the ticket!!" So I kept this unit, turns out it can hold alot of Stogies for aging and also it looks better then any other Thermoelectric Humidor out there, and the 2 displays for temp and humidity are a great feature and accurate. Note : This unit took almost 2 weeks to get acclimated to get to a 70 h. FYI location So Cal climate.Holds 52 Cigars
Hey Did you just add water to the bowl to get it to 70rh? Or did you throw in a Boveda pack?
@@steveovalles9789 I added Propylene Glycol with water beads in the tray.
Newair has a beautiful 250pcs. Humidor on sale for 199 right now
Cant find any specs on the internal measurements of this yet, can someone help? Trying to see if I can fit 1 box in there. Thx!
Hey Tim, I live in a climate that is much cooler. Keeping cigars warm (being too cool really dries them out) is difficult. I have seen very few electric humidors that heat. Ones I have seen that do are ridiculously expensive. Do you know of any that are more reasonable?
I can't seem to find the 8L only the 16 could someone comment the link that would be badass.
Can we get a 6 month revisit on this unit? Curious how it's doing.
Does this unit actively heat? There seems to be some discrepancy as to if it does.
Do you think for a little more money you can get a larger KingChii Humidor or is the 8l one of the better ones for under $200?
I have two of these (king sent me one to replace the first, which was giving me a wonky reading). After throwing a grove in each one of them… I am getting a consistent reading on rh and temp. Don’t pay attention to the outside reading on these machines. It tends to be way off. Other than that, they work great.
Thank you !
@@KingChiiOfficialyou agree the temperatures are off?
Please continue to monitor the readings closely, and if you suffer any problems of our cigar humidor, we will provide you with good customer service.@@deist921
Be aware that these types of units are only good if you're trying to reduce the temp inside the humidor by about 5~ degrees from the room temperature. If your room is hotter than 5~ degrees compared to inside the unit, the cooling device will cause condensation inside leading to mold due to reaching the dew point.
Did he say this was $150ish? I can’t find the 8L temp and humidity control online, especially on Amazon. They have the 8L temp control but not with the humidity control. If anyone has a link to the specific one he is using, would you please post it?
just a warning most thermoelectric wineadors that i've seen can only cool down to around 10 below room temp, i would def recommend something bigger for most people planning on collecting more than a couple boxes
Can I get this in the UK????
Im thinking about buying one right now what is yout 100% option!!!!!!! In amazon cart as we speak
I would go with a unit that heats AND cools. I have the need1 an no problems going on a year now
Can I season this with bóvedas, and keep using bóvedas for humidification system or I need to use the water tray system?.
Great question
I put water in the tray and a boveda pack above it. My temp holds at 69 70 and my humidity holds at 70. After opening door to grab a stick the humidity builds back up within 5 to 10 minutes. Use distilled water to reduce white film and coating on any internal components. Wife got it for me for Christmas...I love it.
I’m using distilled water only set it @71* rh% was @74. After a few days rh% went up to 84 I dry boxed the cigars and took out my tray. Reinstalled later but rh% is still to high. any help would be appreciated
I’m unfamiliar with this style of humidor. What is different/better than a wooden one that I put a digital humidity sensor into? What’s the purpose of it plugging in?
hello, my friend, 1.Built-in temperature and humidity control system that automatically monitors and adjusts the temperature and humidity inside the box to maintain the optimal storage environment, without the need to frequently monitor and adjust humidity like wooden boxes. 2.The heating system can preheat the interior to avoid cigars getting cold in winter. 3.Built-in fans circulate the air and prevent mold growth. 4.The temperature and humidity control technology maintains a stable humidity around 70% inside, which greatly benefits the maturation and taste of cigars. 5.Powered by external power supply, no need to worry about battery life. 6.More scientific design provides a more stable storage environment.
I can't even find the one in this size on Amazon
I got the 16L king, it doesn't hold RH I'm using a 320g 69RH% and during the warmer days (over 25c) the humidor gets over 71RH% and on cooler days (21c) it drops down to 63RH%. So now I've resorted to using it just as temperature control set at (18c) and storing 2 Tupperware containers with 62RH and the other with a 69RH.
Have you tried to plug the drain hole on the bottom?
Hey guys i csnt get my temprature and humidity to match with my digital hygrometer to match i tried to adjust it by the difference calibration in the manual but it seems to do nothing help
I’m somewhat new to these. How do you control the RH on this when just using distilled water? Is there a way to manually control it?
No
What size Boveda ?
Hello, any advice on how to remove the plastic smell in an electric humidor? I already tried distilled water, soap, vinegar, etc. And if I put the cigars in like this, can they be damaged?
Good question, mine smells like plastic as well. I’ve cleaned it with soap and also tried baking soda and distilled water both didn’t work… any suggestions
1.Baking soda - Leave an open box or bowl of baking soda inside the humidor for 24-48 hours. The baking soda will help absorb odors. 2.Activated charcoal - Place some activated charcoal packets or an odor-absorbing charcoal filter inside the humidor to absorb smells. Let it sit for a couple days. 3.Boiling water - Boil some water on the stove, then pour it into a bowl and place the bowl inside the humidor. The steam from the hot water can help release the plastic smell. 4.Coffee grounds - Spread some fresh coffee grounds in a tray or plate inside the humidor. The grounds will absorb odors. 5.Vodka or rum - Put a small bowl with some vodka or rum in the humidor and let it sit for a day. The alcohol can help cut through smells. 6.Airing out - Leave the humidor open in a well-ventilated area for a couple days so smells can dissipate.
Does this unit have actual humidity control or does it just read the humidity inside? Like would you still need boveda packs?
You have to control the humidity. Most use bovedas
Could these be seasoned with a Boveda seasoning kit?
I have a need one 48L unit and used the 84% 320gram Boveda seasoning pack. Left it in there for two weeks like Boveda recommends. It is still perfect at 69% for over a year now with one 320gram 69% Boveda sitting in the bottom.
Yes
I recently bought this unit but I'm haven trouble keeping the humidity down.
I am having the same issue. I can’t get any lower than 80%rh.. I just ordered 69rh Boveda size 60 packs to through in there and see if that makes a difference.
Is there a reset on this unit. I accidentally change the settings on the humidifier settings , so i believe my numbers are way off on the humidity side of it.
You need a portable humidity gauge to calibrate the unit. Place it inside and close the door. Press and hold both the light and temp buttons. The humidity reading will blink. Press up and down to match an internal humidifier reading. Remove your portable gauge. You're all set.
Didn't work for me
Had to hold the light and the Celsius button
is there a way to turn the temp and humidity display on and off?
Nope
Should you season the wood with distilled water?
you can it won’t hurt, i’d rather use a humidity pack tbh
Nah to reply to myself, do not, follow seasoning instructions and that’s all. Any excess water/seasoning will damage wood.
I can't get the humidity lower than 75% Help
I would just like to find a humidor that’s not made in China
100%
Well there are some affordable wooden ones that aren’t, but I don’t know about electric. (The wooden ones are humidor supreme).
Agreed. But if u bought this version with a made in USA sticker would pay twice as much.
Boycott everything from them💪✌
@@kilroywasherebutnowhesgone9532 I think most people try, but it’s really hard to do when you’re poor.

Help I can't get my king chii electric humidor to get to 70rh it keeps going to 80 to 90 rh I had it for a day now I used distilled water to season it note I also wiped the cedar shelving too with the distilled water than put in
Instructions state it could take up to 3 days to settle, did you put DW in the cup when seasoning, or go with the Boveda outright? I just brought mine, seasoning today and will let you know if I have the same issue
@@dariushunt3827mines been sitting at 80 for 2 days… boveda 320 gram 72 has been sitting in there as well
New AIR ALL THE WAY!
Are they made in the USA?
Can anyone tell me what the settings revert to after a power outage?
It reverts to the same temp settings you had them before the outage.
@@Star_Sn1per Thank you!
Are the shelves adjustable?
Yes the humidor has many different slots on the interior walls so you can set up the shelves however you want
@@mylittleghosty9227 thanks! how’s the machine over all, I would like to know your feedback if you’ve purchased it
No lie, I would pay more if it was made in the US .
Not really a review, but somewhat informative
You will be reviewing electric humidors for years to come probably
Why won't my humidity go down? It's at 95%.
I put a tiny bowl of coffee grounds for 24 hours and smell went away!!
They are making those things too small.
Hello, My Friend, We have other big capacity cigar humidor
lol this is 150$ on amazon. How is this a good deal
Better than a wooden humidor in price and performance
You talk so much
