  • This last Christmas, I saw more people posting pictures of their new Thermoelectric humidors than just about any other cigar gift that exists. These are THE thing in cigars right now. So today, we're going to dive into the Needone 33L Electric Humidor to see everything it has to offer.
We've reviewed a lot of electric humidors on this channel, but as all of our cigar collections seem to be reproducing like bunnies, we're stepping it up to some of the more mid sized units. This one is billed as a 280 cigar humidor, but what kind of capacity does it really have. Here's a deep dive on all the pros and cons of the Needone 33L Electric Humidor!

Cigar Acquisition Disorder is a real thing, and regardless of what storage solutions for cigars you opt for, get as large of one as you can afford/house without getting divorced. I promise you will find a way to fill up any sized humidor over time, and you will still wind up with rubbermaids crammed with cigars and bovedas in your bedside table.

How are you liking it after 4 months? Also, does it really hold 280 sticks, or about how many Toro sticks can it hold? I'm thinking of getting one, too.

Does it have a humidifier to put moisture in the air? Or is it just a pan for water so the air can pull some vapor up off it?

I've got a cheap new air brand I bought in 2015 before wineadors were cool. It took me about a year to get it dialed in completely (plug the stupid drain hole, external electric thermostat with high accuracy temp probe, definitely use a 2 way humidification system, I use heartfelt beads and a lot of them, put in more cedar in the form of trays and dividers from cigar boxes etc.) and now it's rock solid for at least 8 years. Id bet one of my 7 year old blooming Opus X Lost City or 2104 God of Fire's on it. I also live very close to Death Valley. The units coming out now are much nicer than what I have, but nothing is "set it and forget it" in extreme environments.

I got the 48L one about a month ago, pulled the shelves out except for one run three drawers in it with one shelf on bottom works fantastic prob gonna go down to 69% boveda as it holds the humidity so well 72% seems a bit much threw a govee hydrometer and temp Bluetooth unit it absolutely loving it and steadily filling it up thanks to your shop! Mine still has to be fully open to get drawers completely out though that is a draw back but the seal is amazing

Hey Tim, got one of theses a couple months ago. 3 320g bovedas and a couple 60g, about 150 cigars slowly added. Had to add distilled in the tray as Midwest dry winter was drying out even w the bovedas. Maybe summer will change that but disappointed that I can’t just use bovedas! We’ll see

I picked up a kingchii 100 count and I absolutely love it. I used the Boveda season kit and my humidor is running tip top shape. Where I live, the apartment gets hot. So when I had my cigars in a wooden humidor, the temps used to get crazy. So that's when I decided to invest in an electric humidor. The best decision I made. My temps now are a steady 68 degree Fahrenheit with the humidity at around 69%-70%. My cigars are perfect every time!

This has been a real time consuming trip trying to get the right electric humidor. There is a lot of misinformation on Amazon and I'm really glad to see you reviewed this model. I bought a Clevelander on Amazon for 250 and will be returning it. They had incorrect dimensions on Amazon. But that's not why. It's a thermoelectric but it is loud enough I had to move it to another location. That's when I realized there was zero information in the tiny manual on manufacturer and warranty. None, zero. I called Amazon and they said they were surprised that they could not find it either. They said it had Amazon 30 day warranty. Needless to say it's a crap shoot out there so your reviews are very helpful. BTW I had first bought the kingchi 8l you reviewed but returned it when I realized that in no way would it fit the quantity they state. I guess they were using the stick rating which means small twigs from back yard. It's good you are noting this here. Thanks

I have the 23l and I love it man. It takes care of my cigars and humidity is always at a good temp I want. I had a box humidor first that I spent $300 on. And it was a pain in the ass to keep a good humidity level on it. I highly recommend one of these needone humidors if you're searching.

I’ve had one of these for almost a year now and seasoning. The first time was actually very easy only took about five days. However, I lived in Illinois at that time, and when the wife and I moved to Kentucky and I went to set this thing up for the second time it took me almost 2 weeksto season the thing and keep the humidity where I want it which is 65% lol. Overall the thing has done fantastic and I have really no complaints. Other than moving them is a slight challenge but that could’ve just been me.

  • @BrentenH

I have had this one for nearly 3 months and it has been great. I use 65% Boveda packs (a 320 laying on the bottom and 4 of the 60g sitting on the edge of the top shelf) holds humidity at62% - 64% with the temp set at 63 degrees. I have a Govee on the top and bottom drawer and it stays consistent. I added cigar trays, because NeedOne does not make additional drawers for this unit at this time.

    • @NexxGenDrue

I have the same setup as you, except the temp I have set at 70 (holding at 68). Wondering why you have yours at 63. I’m getting burn issues with ones that didn’t before.

    • @BrentenH
      @BrentenH 8 місяців тому

@@NexxGenDrue I was actually shooting for 65/65. My humidor was set and doing really well and I suddenly started fighting rising humidity issues. Someone had suggested to lower the temp to help so I lowered to 63 degrees. What I later realized was that my home was basically the same humidity as outside and our winter humidity is basically 80% plus on the regular, and every time I opened the humidor that humidity would go in and the Boveda packs were saturated and couldn't absorb any more. I have since added a dehumidifier to my home and my living room stays about 40% humidity and my humidor have leveled back off and been holding perfectly again. Long way of saying, I just didn't turn the temp back to 65 and did not notice a difference between 65 and 63.

I just got this exact one for Christmas and love it!! It came from Amazon so not I did have some issues with broken drawer the big bottom drawer front face was broken off and amd a slat on the bottom was half way off. One shelf had 2 slats off. These I was able to press back on the big drawer I baught some very tiny nails and was able to fix it. Also the metal shroud around the hydrometer looked bent but I just pushed the hygrometer from the back a bit and fixed that issue. So head up this was from Amazon but I was able to fix the issues my self and works just fine now. Order the cedar drawers as well that Tim showed they are great for this humidor!!!

They are nice (I had the 48L version), but after months of ownership and multiple attempts, I could not get the plastic smell out of the unit. It ruined all of my cigars. Hey Tim, as I told you last week I got the exact same size in the Kingchi for Christmas and love it. But I was noticing how easy it is to see through the glass on the door in this video. Is that due to your lighting in there? Or is the glass on this one that much more non-reflective and easier to see into? And for what it’s worth I seasoned with 84% Boveda packs, starting humidity was 49% and I was at 72% 18 hours later.

I'd love to have a humidor like this, but with more cedar on the lining and a built-in humidification mechanism (though this is optional, Boveda packs can always suit the purpose). I'd looked at the Raching MON series humidors but even the smallest one is about twice as big as this one. Do options exist in roughly this size range but with the premium features of much larger units? Is there any advantages or disadvantages to having the full cedar lining, and the built in humidification? What about their "ammonia removal" (which I'm quite sure is an ozone generator)?

I have one and I hate it. Unless you store it somewhere which is always higher temps, this thing will constantly cool and the humidity never has a chance. My place is kept roughly 73 deg and this humidor is always 10 deg colder. regardless of what I set it too. I have to leave it unplugged.

  • @Home_Run_Balls

I bought this model last week and it will not heat up above the ambient temperature of my room which is currently 67 degrees even though the humidor is turned all the way up to 72. This model supposedly heats and cools but mine must be defective. Needone’s customer service is unfortunately terrible so far as you can only email them and they have not replied to my emails. Unit looks good but doesn’t work as advertised and the service is terrible.

I use 65% Boveda packs (a 320 laying on the bottom and 4 of the 60g sitting on the edge of the top shelf) holds humidity at62% - 64% with the temp set at 63 degrees. I have a Govee on the top and bottom drawer and it stays consistent.

@carmeloamos3736 I got the Mojgar 50L and had the same issue, and man did it put up a fight! On mine, and I assume yours, it's not the box that had the smell, it was the wood. Not sure if you have yours loaded up or not, but I would suggest getting your cigars out if you have them in then basically start over.
Here's what I did to get rid of the smell:
      1) Remove the trays and set them to the side
      2) Wipe down the interior of the unit with a mix of distilled water and baking soda. Let that dry overnight with the door opened, then wipe clean with distilled water, let it dry again and wipe with a clean microfiber cloth to get rid of the dried baking soda. (I went so far as to remove the fan grill and carefully wipe in there too, but don't think it's necessary. If you do, be careful not to break the thermometer that looks like a little antenna). After doing this and letting it air dry, close it up overnight then check for any smell the next day. Mine smelled like sweet Spanish cedar only. Repeat if necessary (I did mine like 2 or 3 times before realizing it was the wood only that smelled).
      3) Now for the wood. This took a few tries, and was definitely the source of the odor. First, I wiped them down lightly with plain, distilled water and let them air dry outside of the humidor overnight. After dry, I put them back in the humidor (which I know had no smell) and closed it up overnight. Next day, same plastic smell. Repeated the process a second time, same result. (Each time I put the wood back in the humidor and closed it up overnight to let any smell build up)
Next I wiped them down with the same distilled water/baking soda mix I did for the humidor and let them air dry again; when dry, wiped down with distilled water to get rid of the residue; air dried again...still smelled .
At this point I was about to give up, so figured I'd try one more thing and wiped the shelves down with a mix of distilled water, white vinegar, and lemon juice. After they were pretty saturated (not water logged, just a good wipedown), instead of just air drying I had a fan blowing on them. The next day I put them back in the humidor, closed it up overnight and BINGO! Smell is gone and the box just finished seasoning and it smells great (I just used distilled water in the tray that came with it to season it).
I don't know if it was the final mix with the fan that did it or just the amount of times I wiped them down, but I would start with distilled water, white vinegar, and lemon juice mix wipedown followed by the fan drying.
Let me know how it goes or if you need any clarification. Good luck!
