  • With the recent release of The tiger King on Netflix I just wanted to show that not all exotic animal owners are irresponsible. Most of us have our animals well being. health and happiness in mind. and don't get involved in drama. unfortunately there are people trying to get our rights taken away. I won't mention names. and they have been successful so far. but we will keep fighting to keep our rights to help these animals and give them homes. thank you.

    • @egroegartfart

Unfortunately you're the one that needs to get something straight. lol. My channel is for the education about wild predators, giving factual information, history, statistics and data. So I'll help you out a little. But in the future before commenting on a subject that you're not educated in, do a little research, talk to experts in the field. Maybe even watch the educational videos on a subject to learn before commenting. That will save some embarassment. Not being a smart ass, but this is my field of study and has been for the last 25 years. I work directly with animal biologists, behaviorists, zoologists. and state DNR officers. and have been working directly with wild predators and prey for the last 20 years also. So. lol. Now that we have that established, you make your statement as though it's fact. It is not. Even though this subject has been thoroughly covered in several of my videos I'll delve into it just for you. And everything I talk about here I urge you to contact any wildlife officer, zoologist, animal behaviorist that specializes in wild animals, or any professional in the wild animal field. But only those professionals, not professionals in the domestic animal field. because that is not their area of study. So, any doubts, contact any one of those individuals. I'll try to make it quick. First fact. A bobcat is a wild animal. Number 2..... A bobcat cannot be tamed or domesticated. There is not a wild predator on this planet that can be tamed or domesticated. Number 3.... A wild animal is a wild animal whether raised in the wild or in captivity. Fact number 4.......A wild animal does not lose any of it's wild instincts when raised in captivity with humans. Number 5.........In the wild bobcats ONLY accept those that they are raised with from birth (father, mother, siblings) as family. Number 6......In captivity bobcats ONLY accept those they are raised with from birth (Humans and domestic animals as well as other wild animals) as family. Fact number 7.........Bobcats ONLY accept those they are raised with from birth as family. Fact number 8........In the wild if another animal or human that the bobcat has not been raised with from birth enters the bobcats domain or gets too close, the bobcat will attack and you will see its' "WILD" side. Number 9.......In captivity if another human or animal that the bobcat has not been raised with enters the bobcat's domain(which is most likely a house) the bobcat will attack and you will see its' "WILD" side. Number 10........In the wild bobcats bond with their family by grooming each other, playing, wrestling, licking, mock fighting, rubbing their scent on each other, Sleeping next to, ....etc Fact 11........In captivity bobcats bond with their human and domestic animal family by grooming them, Playing with each other, rubbing their scent on the animals and humans, (like in this video and all my videos) hmmmm also by wrestling, licking, mock fighting, sleeping next to......etc. Also a few other things worth mentioning. When you watch a National Geographic show about Lions, Bears, Tigers, Cheetahs and they are with their family, what are you watching them do? Grooming each other, rubbing on each other, playing, wrestling, sleeping next to.......etc. So, when you see this behavior are you calling up the producers and telling them that these animals are tame because they are exhibiting these behaviors? Nope. Because you know this is how they act with their family in the wild. Brand new news for you here. This is also how they act with their family in captivity. No different. Exactly the same. They are not tamed to groom their human family and play, and rub on them. It is a natural behavior. So when do we see the "WILD" side of wild animals come out in the wild? When a person or animal that they have not been raised with enters their territory, or when they are hunting, or when they are trying to take over another animals' territory. So when do we see the "WILD" side of wild animals come out when they are in captivity? Exactly the same.....when a human or other animal enters their territory whom they have not been raised with, or also like mine, when he hunts because I also feed him live prey and give him the opportunity to hunt, stalk and kill his prey. Unfortunately the only "WILD" side of my bobcat that you can see on my channel is when he hunts because I cannot allow a person or other animal to enter my house that he has not been raised with because it would end in certain death for that animal and severe injury for a human and I would also be put in jail because it is illegal for me to allow him to have any contact with anyone other than who he was raised with. Are there "WILD" incidents? Yes, every single day. Dangerous incidents, that a person without training and education and experience would be severely injured or worse. That's why in order to own a bobcat you have to have the training and experience and coursework. licenses, liability insurance, inspections. Everything that a zoo has to go through. So yes, he is a wild animal with all of his wild instincts and behaviors. They are a very dangerous animal and that is why you do not see people owning them as pets other than rescues who do this because it is a passion of theirs because without us these animals would be put down because of their injuries or lifelong illnesses which stops them from being allowed to be in the wild. Hope this helps explain things a little clearer for you. So, now you can educate all your friends about what a wild animal is and that a wild predator is always a wild predator no matter where it is raised. Have a great day.

The cat IS scenting the boy but not to mark him as a possession. It’s very complex but in short he will blend his scent with the boy’s and OTHER family members which creates a unique “family scent” by which cats recognise their clan and which in turn allows them to feel safe and relax. It IS love and in a way it IS claiming him, but merely as a family member who can be trusted.

When I was in first grade ( I’m 65 now ) I saw a man toss a bag into a creek from the bridge. After he left I went over and got the burlap bag and opened it . There was some dead kittens in it except for one , his belly was sliced open . I took him home and ask my momma if I could keep him , we doctored him up and he grew . That’s when we realized he wasn’t a ordinary cat ,he was a bobcat . I named him “ Lucky “ . I would take him hunting for rabbits and quails. He would jump an grab any crows that was stealing strawberries from our garden . Then one day I was playing hide and seek with him and when he found me he got alittle carried away and scratched my arms pretty bad , no stitches just some “oilosol ointment took care of it . He was so sorry , he kept licking my face lol . My dad decided to turn him loose , so we took him down to the Santa Monica mountains in California along the coast , we founded a nice area with a stream and turned him loose , I cried . When ever I use to hike there when I got older I would sometimes come across one ...an I would wonder if that’s one of “ Lucky’s “ offsprings. Thanks for posting this video ! 😉👍

Tell me, what do you hate about them? The fact that they're free and won't love on you every second, like a human? Would YOU want to be expected to hug everyone constantly and do everything they say? Would YOU jump into a fire even though your friend is already dead and it's better one dies than two? Nope. Cats act somewhat human-like with some feral in them and of course, not as smart. Think about it.

Scent Communication in Cats is Complex
Many people inaccurately assume any time a cat engages in rubbing or bunting then he is merely marking you as his territory. Scent communication is far more complex than that. Cats use scent to mark their territory, yes, but they also do it to create comforting familiarity, show respect (ex: flank rubbing another cat), create a common colony scent (important for survival and cat colony harmony), self soothe, announce sexual status (done through urine-marking), tell other cats about themselves and much more. The reason a cat uses scent depends on his immediate circumstances
and the part of his body he uses. When your cat comes face to face with you and bunts or rubs, enjoy it. It’s the next best thing to a kiss on the cheek. (Pam Johnson Bennett - certified feline behavioral expert)

She sleeps with me every night and it wouldn't be the same without my baby girl.....did I really just say that ? ....Whats happening to me ? lol.

48 years ago a bobcat took refuge in my basement man cave/bedroom. I was 12 and it was well bellow zero outside and ice everywhere. All it took was one good meal and we were best friends for life. She had obviously been starving and was very cold. Despite showing her the door every day, she decided to stay with us until spring and then took off. For several years she came back in the fall and more often than not brought her offspring with her. Bobcats don't make good pets but they make excellent friends.

What a beautiful cat, he is either marking his territory or really loves that young man, either way it's adorable. I live in Maine and was fortunate enough to see a very young bobcat when it crossed the road in front of me. It was beautiful, seemed awfully young and small to be wondering alone, maybe momma was close by.

    • @egroegartfart
      @egroegartfart  3 роки тому +3

Thanks David. Yes it's rare to see one in the wild although the bobcat population has been rapidly growing the last 15 years in the U.S. so sightings are becoming more common. If that was a young one you saw the mom was surely not far behind or ahead and definitely had an eye on it. They start to venture out and walk with the mom at a few months old. They are still pretty small then but will go on short trips with the mom and go farther and farther each time.

At home we always had dogs and cats for as long as I can remember. One of our cats lived to be 23 years old. We basically grew together. For a cat to express his love in this way, let alone a wild animal like this bobcat, he has to really love you and REALLY be grateful for the way he's being cared for.
You're a fantastic owner. There should be more people around who care for animals like you do.

However this is making me realize, actually, our average moggie, isn't domesticated, it is a wild animal, like this one, but has 'chosen' us to be part of its family lol 😂...... Wonderful video, and amazing and beautiful animal :)

Yeah, Roy Horn thought the same thing...it took thousands of years to domesticate dogs and cats.

    That is one affectionate kitty...
That could inflict serious injury in a heartbeat.

Youre so right jess. People see my videos and always think he looks so harmless. Which he is actually very good. So loving. But they turn. Just like tigers or lions. And they do attack and bite and its not good. Its just how they are. I try to explain thst to people. Especially when they say hes tame. You cant tame them. He acts this way being loving to us becauee he accepts us. But if anyone else were to come in the house he would attack them immediately. They are very wild still and very dangerous. Thank you jess. Have a great day.
