Completely agree. UA-cam channels can typically take years to get a decent size audience. They are doing very well.
But it also takes years to establish, With working 40 plus hours per week, cooking food & living our life’s, making videos as well is very demanding.
I’m a HGV driver who does 45 hours work in just 3 days ! On average over 60 hours, come the weekend I want to relax
Western Chapland makes videos once every three weeks. & gets loads of views.
Your videos are the type of videos that appeals to mature adults, & some are discovering UA-cam slowly. The youngest UA-cam views want cars, & burnout videos & dumb stuff.
But 80,000 subs is a great number. Personally actually putting stickers around on ‘public foot paths is a great way to get more views, perhaps it’s not a bad idea after all Paul !

Pssh, regular schedules are wildly overrated anyway :) But seriously - this sounds like a great move P&R. The most important thing is that you keep enjoying making videos, so do whatever you need to do to keep it that way, whether that means every 10 days, 2 weeks, or longer. And if the videos have been this good when you're rushing them, I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do when you have more time!

Totally understand the pressure of doing things regularly - I do some little talks on ETCS (railway cab signalling) and I do them as and when I feel like it - sometimes a whole series in a few days but sometimes a couple of weeks about. So, do what is best for you because I look forward to your videos whenever they appear.

Sundays won't be quite the same but I would hate you to get burned out by the process as your energy and enthusiasm are what makes your channel what it is! Only discovered your channel at the end of 2022 and working my way through your videos (just got to the end of 2020) whilst watching the new ones as they are released. I would still watch if only once a month. Should be something for you to enjoy doing. If you haven't been to Aberfoyle in Scotland, the car park was the station. The last time I was there you could still see the turntable edging stones in the undergrowth and there was the remains of a buffer stop.
Guys you do a great job. I only found you a few months ago (probably as a result of watching the time team classics) and this only popped up in the last couple of days. I really appreciate your effort and enthusiasm. Several people I have watched tried to keep up the high frequency and not well, one who was quite prolific has now all but vanished. I would rather see you carry on delivering quality every few weeks than crash and burn, to the detriment of your health and/or relatiionship. Glad you picked up on the burn out before it got oout of hand. 😊

As for the video output, I think you’re on the right track (pun intended). If you’re not enjoying it then it won’t be as good as you’d like and that’s a vicious cycle that feeds itself. I can only speak for myself but I’d sooner wait for the video and you be happy with it and happy in yourselves, too. Ultimately everyone wins.

Love you both and have enjoyed watching you guys, with that said I have to admit that I have not tuned in for a while. I've had my own personal health issues to deal with so I have missed a lot. Funny enough I was just saying 2 days ago that I was going to do just that, get caught up, and today getting ready to do so I saw this video. Needless to say I was really itching to click and hear some awesome news. I love your proposal story, and like everyone else who has watched, I understand the channel situation and will try and help. I am subscribed and will be honest, I don't always watch them when you release them. Sometimes life gets busy and I go a month and then catch up. So for viewers like me, it is easy to say I am not going anywhere, you will still be in my feed when you post. But mostly, as others have said, you have to take care of yourselves first! Thank you for the content, I may never be able to visit your beautiful country, and this has been a way to see so much of it.
Well done on making a sensible choice which will help both you and your viewers. I started watching after the collab with Geoff and Vicki. Going down to an ad-hoc schedule every two to three weeks or so means I'll keep watching.

It kind of works both ways too. I love your videos, and I also love many other creators' videos on YT. I currently have a hundred plus backlog in my watch list. Having a few less to watch means I can relax and enjoy watching them in plenty of time, rather than having to skip bits, pause and return later (if I remember). I'll be much happier watching your content without feeling as rushed, in much the same way I'm sure you'll feel happier with a more spread out schedule. As always, thanks for everything you do :)

Very much a wise decision. You must be able to enjoy what you do! Pleased to help your Patreon so we can get more of your top notch videos. There are so few in the genres you two delightfully tromp about in - and yours are the absolute best and most entertaining and informative. It takes 8-10 months to make an animated episode so I can imagine the pressure to be making such top notch videos every week is tremendous and you've got to let some steam off, preferably like some steamboat chugging along an ancient abandoned canal. Metaphor done, salute given! Best to you two!

I proposed at a bench beside the River Tavy in Tavistock not far from the Tavistock Canal … it’s a part of the world I remember from my childhood (having visited it for several years as a child when my grandparents were living in Mary Tavy) … back in 2000 I was on holiday with my mum and brother in Plymouth which had been planned for months ; when on spur of moment I invited my girlfriend to come down and meet me (I was living in High Wycombe , she in Aylesbury.. both over 200 miles away) .. she agreed & we found a lovely little spot & I proposed .. not as romantic as your story .. but your tale brought back so many memories

As I say to a lot of utubers that I follow, we are just glad to be along for the ride and for you letting us into your world. 👍 Talking of marriage proposals, I don't remember formally proposing to my wife, must have done something wrong or right as we've now been married for 40years. 🤣😂🤣

Your content is always so good and well informed I'd hate for you to feel pressured into producing it. The finest wines take time etc and your mental health and wellbeing far outstrips any model UA-cam should try and get you to conform to. You are not alone in noticing the pressures of releasing content. Seems to be a recurrent theme on some of the channels I follow. Good luck with it all and I'll still be watching whenever content is released. Epic proposal btw. Now get some rest and recharge your batteries (not the camera type ones!).
I definitely understand burnout - I have my own business making outfits for cosplay and selling accessories, and it can be a bit much with sewing the online orders, doing shows (one to four a month), trying to maintain a website, self-promotion, etc. There's a certain amount of freedom in being self-employed, but it does come with a certain amount of stress. I rarely get a day off due to orders, and 99% of my social life is the shows I do. I'm annoyed when things don't turn out perfect. I probably spend too much time fixing little things.
Right now I can't afford Patreon, but hopefully at some point that'll change. Meanwhile I'll enjoy watching you guys whenever you release content. Hopefully you can go back to enjoy making it a little more relaxed.

This was quite the complicated plot! 👍😊 Looking at that mud I was praying it wasn't so muddy on the day as wellies and tuxedo aren't a good look really! Frankly I think content suffers when burn-out occurs and some of my favourite vloggers are quite sporadic, despite what you've rightly said about UA-cam liking regularity. If your Patreon members can help to keep a sense of regularity, then fine. For myself, I'm really happy to view as and when! it's fine! Relax...... Smile..... We're here!

A sensible and sound decision on the way forward. However I think the first video of the new format should cover the installation of a long overdue memorial plaque on the bench! Good luck with the new production proposals.
All good things come to those who wait. We don't mind waiting at all. Just don't lose your enjoyment of making the videos. One channel I subscribe to I've been waiting a year for the next video, I think the person lost the joy but I hope they get it back.

Keep doing what you're doing as and when you can. If you're getting stressed you'll end up resenting it and that's no good for any of us.

Hi, I’m just a casual ex-pat viewer from usa enjoying some English stories in the amazing Uk countryside that still has views, less that 50miles from one of the largest city’s in the world,London, where you can be on top of a hill and not see a single house that hasn’t been there at least 300 years. I know there’s a lot of crowding in Uk but the green views are worth it!
