Can you possibly post dosage for quercetin and curcumin for cats?..
Pumpkin oil or ground seeds are anti parasitic Revolution is toxic/nasty. Ivermectin seems not as toxic for nasal mites. Also ceterizine/Zyrtec.

My dog will do this occasionally and I thought it wasn't this common. She'll do it randomly a few hours after eating or while she's chewing on her bone. Glad to know that there are ways to help treat it at home.

My tiny yorkie does this when over excited, to the point it petrifies her where she just freezes. Vet says don’t worry.... but she gets very scared and just freezes up I always pick her up and hold her and pet as much as possible to relax her usually subsides 5-15 minutes.

I had no idea what was going on with my 7 month shih tzu! She was sleeping soundly and suddenly started doing this CONSTANTLY throughout an entire night and morning. She was scared and all I could think to do was provide “mouth to mouth”, lol. I put my mouth over her nose and mouth simultaneously and gave her a couple breaths and that calmed her immediately. It’s hard to get into a vet right away, even with COVID restrictions lightening up now, so I was looking for some sort of help from someone with a veterinary background in any form of help I could get, and this was just what I needed and may have even saved me a huge vet bill!!! Thank you so much!

My dog's reverse sneezed multiple times after a continuous nosebleed 😔 It's just sad. I am guessing it has something to do with blood clots. Our vet was not so helpful. He just gave me meds to stop the nose bleeding, antibiotics and that's it. He just said it will pass. Ibwas hoping for a lab test but none was offered. No post-checkup home care or whatsoever. I felt so bad for my dog. I am going to another vet tomorrow. Hopefully my buddy gets better soon. Thank you so much for this video.

I've had 2 generations of Bostons. My little man (15yo now), his nose is just slightly longer than his mom's. Like someone who doesn't know them wouldn't know the difference. But seemed to me to be enough of a difference... or maybe it's just him vs her, and I'm silly to attribute ot to his nose. Haha! But he's always been able to stop his own reverse sneezes. His mom, we always had to help her. She'd stand there, legs splayed and like paralyzed while doing it. Tigger will do it a few times and I don't have to help him.
However... after starting this video, it occurred to me that he hasn't really had any for some years now. The only thing I can think of that is conaistently different is I started giving him ground turmeric (with a little pepper, assuming that helps dog absorption like it does us) in his food like 3 or 4yrs ago.
He's been an allergy dog all his life. He was the first of the babies to get allergies when he was 4mo old. I've had several people tell me dogs don't typically get allergies before the age of 2 or something. I don't know but by the time they were 6mo, all 4 puppies were itching and scratching. His little sister was allergic to grass, poor thing. She'd break out when we took her out. At any rate, I've been battling Tig's allergies all his life. Environmental and food. He's finally doing the best he's ever done on Cytopoint. We did regular allergy shots and apoquel for years. But it never occurred to me that his reverse sneezing might be related to his allergies. Since it seems to simply be a Boston thing.

My dog will FOR SURE reverse-sneeze when she lays on her back, or lifts her head high. Anything that stretches her neck upwards will do it. She’s a pitbull, so her reverse-sneeze is LOUD and she engages her whole body when she does it. She also often coughs throughout the day and soft-coughs after drinking water. I wonder if she is allergic to stuff or has a tracheal colapse.

    I do have 1 question
I've always known dogs to do this when over excited. I have a theory it can be a canine form of hyperventilating lol
Things like a new treat or playmate, or being offered a new toy.
I'm not a vet but I'm sure in my dogs it's a psychological based habit rather than an illness.

I have. Half corgi half Aussie that does this 10-30 times a day. And he's done it every day for the last two years but just in the last few weeks it has gotten so much more often! Any time he gets even a little excited or a little worked up he has a huge fit, could this be from mites that have lived in there for a long time and it's now getting worse? We have another dog, same breed, and he has never had this happen. I am of course so worried about him! Thanks for sharing info!

If it starts to happen again when I set her down, I just invert her again and repeat until it stops. This is in a very slow calm motion. She now knows the drill and when it starts she runs to me so I can help her out.

My dog does this reverse sneezing like 5 or 6 times a year, but when he does that, he "swallows his tongue". Like, he puts his tongue back, and I'm scared of leaving him alone, because I don't know if that is normal in reverse sneezing, and if it happens when I'm not around I don't know if he will be able to stop without help.

Dr. Jones, about the CBD....would it be helpful in this situation?....., my dog, Rocket, (boxer mix 4.5 yrs old 75 pounds) was diagnosed with a Choroid Plexus brain tumor 4th ventrical (likely benign) in the middle of August 2020. He was put on prednisone 20 mg twice a day by his neurologist along with omeprozole 20mg TWICE a day to treat the hydrocephalus. That continued for 2.5 weeks until the beginning of September. After his SRS radiation (3 doses) his radiologist lowered the pred dose to 10 mg twice a day. On night 2 of his SRS radiation he started limping and a week after we found out he had a grade 4 CCL rupture. A month later on Oct 5th 2020, back at his neurologist, they lowered the dose to 5mg twice a day. This is still our current dose. About 3.5 weeks ago he got a bladder infection. It was treated at his regular vet. Now after everything his current meds are 5 mg prednisone twice daily and 20 mg omeprozole still twice daily to lower csf fluid, 9 days ago he looked like he was starting to develop a skin infection on the back of his neck. I started spraying topical hydrocortisone on it and consulted thru pics with his neurologist as well as his regular vet. The neurologist said go to my reg vet, and thru the pics my reg vet said because the redness was subsiding with the spray, to just let her know if it gets worst again, if it did she needed to see him. Well today at his physical therapist (for his CCL) they said possible calcinosis cutis. Which is exactly what I have been fearing and keep bringing up with everyone. He has an appt with regular vet tomorrow. I know they will say calcinosis cutis. Does that mean no more pred? I'm worried about his tumor but also about his calcified skin. Maybe he just can't handle pred because all these issues? He has no brain tumor symptoms so I'm really worried about stopping pred. 👉Is cbd oil an option? We are already on tumeric, cosequin, and going to start fish oil. He's doing so well with the tumor symptoms (I've been told i caught the tumor fairly early, and with intervention he can have several years) and he will get a leg brace soon for his CCL rupture. He's happy and acting mostly normal. I just wanna do what's best for him but I know the calcium deposits will get worst if I don't stop the pred, correct? I need alternatives to the pred I guess. Everyone keeps saying calcinosis cutis usually happens on a higher dose for longer than he's been on pred. But i just know that's it. I've seen it before. Please give me advice because I had a dog with calcinlsis cutis before in 2013 due to Cushing and that dog couldn't have any surgery because they said the calcium would never let it heal. And Rocket might have to have a brain shunt surgery at some point if his csf buildup gets worst again. I'm overwhelmed and worried and need guidance please 🙏 I'm really interested in the cbd oil instead of the pred but idk If it's going to help in this situation or not. Idk know what kind of cbd oil to get.
Edit: he's also on gabapentin 300mg twice daily for the leg which I've read is a calcium channel blocker. Is that possibly pushing the calcium into his skin? So that Gabapentin and pred and omeprozole and cosqesuin and tumeric supplement, and his multivite for years with his probiotic. I just need someone with solid advice to help my baby.

My dog has been doing this since she was a puppy, she’s a chihuahua and just turned 10, she was just diagnosed with heart disease a couple of weeks ago but it’s in the early stages, the x ray showed no fluid in the lungs and she’s acting normal, blood tests were great too, but in the past week shes done it maybe twice every few days and it makes me worried.

I have 3 dogs and they never do the reverse sneeze. 2 of the 3 have started doing this ALOT the last wk. I have done zyrtec, antibiotics and prednisone. Nothing is stopping it. I was wondering about kennel cough as my neighbor just got a 10 month old pup from the shelter and that's the only dog they have been in contact with. I don't know what else to try now.

Thank you Dr. Jones for this informational video. My 11 year old apricot minature poodle sometimes just sneezes. When she does that I give her Homeopathic Aconite 30C. I give her 1 pellet. If she is still sneezing later, I'll give her another Aconite 30C pellet. Her sneezing then stopped. There are so many alternative remedies. 🐩

I've been wondering: Scrolling through the comments, many people report reverse sneezing in smaller dogs. Is there a predisposition with smaller breeds, maybe bradycephalic dogs / cats? I'm not too sure since it might also be due to the popularity of smaller breeds in cities and allergies are all too common anyway.

@Kelsey Mann No, she unfortunately passed away before I could try anything. I would suggest not filling their water bowl all the way because then they’ll have more water to chug. I would just make sure that it’s being constantly refilled as they need it so that they’re not thirsty. Other than that idk what I would do tbh, if you are very concerned then take them to the vet to see what they’ll say.

Quercetin is a powerful and beneficial anti-oxidant found in so many fruits and vegetables - not just red onion. The compound found in onions that’s toxic for pets is thiosulphate NOT quercetin.

@@VeterinarySecrets so giving cooked yellow or white onions is poisonous. If Quertin (I cant spell it!) is a component of the red onion and my dogs ate red onion raw or cooked would it make them sick or poison them?

@@janetallison363 quercetin supplement in the video do not have red onions. Rather, I was just explaining the natural food sources of quercetin. Onions are toxic for cats and dogs but it’s not because of quercetin. The toxic compound in onion is Thiosulphate that causes anemia in cats and dogs. Point is, there are other sources of quercetin. So, don’t feed onions to your cats and dogs.

I’m not sure ?? But all I do know is I get charged a whole lot for it but don’t know what they do he was only back there for about five minutes tops they should take their time with our animal and make sure there isn’t anything wrong with our babies I’m not sure what they do bc I have no idea 🤷🏼‍♀️ it might just be the vet I’m taking him too idk so I’m just wondering what do we get for the money we pay ?? I’m just curious ?? Do They not check their ears nose and throat at all ? Or Does Something got to be brought up for them to do that I know they know he’s got allergies bc they have given him a shot before bc of his skin but do they give meds for allergies only one time and it goes away or do they have to take medicine every day how does that work ?? I do know they only had to give one shot for his skin last year and it’s not been back like it was bad then but still has breathing issues his eyes run all the time his nose stays wet and cold and still have some spots come up so often but nothing like it was his eyes run so it may be the reason for this sneeze he has too bc of that and also ? Just curious??😢
