Pocket Knife Refurbishing from World War 2 | COOL RESTORATION

- Pocket knife refurbishing from WW2 is a challenging project to do without any power tools. In this refurbishing video I will show you how I refurbished this WW2 pocket knife and made a new wooden handle from olive tree (it came out gorgeous). This WW2 pocket knife is produced in Solingen in Germany. One of the knife’s blade has a mark “G.M429221”, second one a “barrel brand” which means it is produced in 1934. And third and last one is marked with “magnetic”.
The handle was in terrible shape (looks like a rotten paper) and I had to make a new one. Since this is a knife used by military it deserves special handle. So, I made a beautiful wooden handle from olive tree. I had to replace metal pins with brass one and fixed broken smaller blade. Overall, this pocket knife refurbishing from WW2 was very successful. I am happy that I restored and saved this pocket knife…

Hey guys,
what do you think? Did you enjoy in this WW2 pocket knife refurbishing?
This was an amazing refurbishing/restoration for me, I had a great time doing this video and hope you will like it 🙏😃
Warmest regards Boris 👋😃
Hey Richard, only if you feel that way, but remember the key thing is will. Everything is possible no matter of age or skill level. Give it a go! Even one small thing and after seeing joy in that you will become unstoppable!
Stay safe and take care 👋😊
I am really sorry to hear that Richard. I feel bad now!
Fingers crossed to go everything smoothly for surgery and keep up good spirit.
Take care my friend!
Those kind of guy who dislike the context don't use tools anyway.
Very nice job. I have a very similar pocket knife from my father, soldier in WW2, which I want to restore now. Thanks for your inspiration.
@@mannaz3322 Thanks a lot! Cool to hear that! Good luck
Nice work! No any electric tools. We say in Russia: “Master with Golden Hands”
Thanks Michael, I like that 😄👍
That is a very nice expression...
@@Crisetig 👍
That olive wood was a great choice. Love the graining on it... just beautiful!
Glad you like it! It is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely my favorite...
Thanks for watching 👍
@@FFD_Restorations maybe you should protect the wood with oil before assembling to get a better protection of both sides of each piece tho :P
That is a good point 👍
I do not sell restored knives, but you can check out my Etsy store 👍

Are you saved friend? If you died tonight will you go to heaven or hell?
God Almighty, the Creator was manifest in the flesh. He came into the world to take away the sin of the world. He gave up his own life to save yours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for your redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. This is the Gospel which means the Good News.
John 1:1-3,10 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Isaiah 44:6 KJV
Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Revelation 1:17-18 KJV
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Acts 4:12 KJV
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
John 5:24 KJV
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
1 John 5:13 KJV
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Matthew 28:19-20 KJV
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Excellent restoration, always good to see an old pocket knife preserved.
Much appreciated Terry 😊👍
BEAUTIFUL little knife! I can't imagine why anyone would downvote this.
Thank you so much 😆👍

(1:50) one of my favorite parts of every restoration video is seeing all the parts laid out on the work bench.
Cool, I like that too 😉👍
This is what i like in your intro, "most important thing for me is that you travel back in time for a very short moment...". I like ur work. Thats why i subscribed ur channel today. Hope to see much more such like restorations to take us back in previous century.
Hello Arvind and welcome!
Thank you for your kind and generous words, glad you understand what I'm trying to achieve...
I really do appreciate it 😊👍

Oh man. That intro sequence seems look like an awkward PTSD flashback moment...🙄

Ulala! there's magic involved! Good job, Boris :)
Many thanks Lukas 😆
I watched it from start to end, nothing to say its perfect, i learned a lot..thanks for sharing..
Thank you so much, I appreciate watching 😊👍
Imagine what heroic and horrific moments this knife has been through in the pocket of a man who fought for his side.
The man who's hand made this and the man who's hands used this are now dust... but thankfully this tool survived.
😃👍
Its so beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
You are very welcome! Thank you for watching!
@@FFD_Restorations Просто уникальный симбиоз: замечательная работа, дополненная классической музыкой и отлично срежиссированное видео. Попробовал 9:42 Final assembling of the pocket knife наложить на музыку Марш Ракоци - Гектора Берлиоза, получилось шедеврально!
Best looking pocket knife I've ever seen.
Wow, thank you for watching 👍
As a SAKs and knives fan I can only comment: "Claps, claps and more (and more) claps".
Let's imagine how many stories from its working age could the knife tells us.
My respects and best wishes from Rosario, Argentina.
Thank you so much Jorge, very kind of you! T
Saludos a Rosario 👋😃
In part is a noble exercise of nostalgia.

This is real restoration, without any machines.Everything done manually.Amazing background music, scenes and snowfall.Love to your restoration...May God bless you.

I have an old pocket knife with broken dodgy bone handle, will try it with oak or teak, nothing to lose but my fingers. Thanks for the inspiration.
Cool, just do it patiently and with care. Thank you for watching and sharing your plan 😉
Good luck 🤞
Use a bone to make the handle !
Hi been online will try and restore another knife using deer antler horn/bone thanks for the reply.
An actual recommendation I'm interested in. Thanks UA-cam!
😃👍
This is my favourite restoration video yet. Absolutely perfect choice of wood. Beautiful work
Awesome, thank you!
My Dad used to say to me="Where there is a Will there is a Way"- and you obviously have the will and have turned a worthless old knife into an heirloom and worthy of being displayed in a glass case for all to enjoy. All done with tools of the same era as the knife. Kudos to you~!!
Subed so I can see more of this~!!
Hello Rickarama and welcome 👋🙂
That is very true and I am glad you mentioned!
Many thanks for watching and reaching out 😉
Take care!

Great job, beautiful olive wood.
Thank you very much!
I loved this restoration. No power tools. Just humble simple and honest work. Olive tree wood is surely one of the most beautiful finishing touches. Very good! The whole thing with the ghost images of the world war ll behind. It was a pleasure to watch. I'm waiting for more 👍👍👍
Thank you so much Malcolm for kind words and watching ☺️👍
You are a wonderful craftsman, I enjoyed the restoration. Beautiful practical knife.
Much appreciated Nico! This warms my heart, THANK YOU!
Great restoration, love the scales.
Many thanks 😊👍
Once again, very nice refurbishing project. I do like the wood choice. I recently refurbished a Old Timer lock back hunter knife and the locking spring tension was interesting fitting it all back together. Thumbs Up
Wow Gary, thanks a lot once again, very kind words! Olive wood is nice indeed. That sounds interesting, glad you had a good fun 👍
Cheers Boris
You are a extraordinary craftsman, who chooses excellent music.
Many thanks Nico!
Very nice and tastefully done.
Thank you so much 😊👍

Unbelievable! It is actually a masterpiece... so much effort went into this little one, and as a result we have an actual part of history and a great swiss knife made with "hands of gold". Respect +
Thank you so much Nerro for kind words and watching!

Outstanding video and the music was perfect too, it matched the work undertaken so well. Thank you.
Thanks John, I appreciate that
It turned out so nice. The wood grain gives the pocket knife a lot of character.
Thanks Harvey, yes it does 👌
Very Cool.Thanks.🔪⚔️🙋♂️💪🇩🇪
Thanks for watching Kay! You are welcome 👋😀
Very nice restoration, which a great pocket knife like this deserves. I like that fact that you keep everything original as is possible. And what you have to modify is very nicely done: brass pins, olive wood handle, etc.. Thanks for allowing us to view your work.
Thank you Ian, much appreciated! You are very welcome 😉
Good job man, the knife doc has safed an old life, that´s history. Best regards from germany. Rob
Thanks Rob, much appreciated! Greetings to Germany 👋😊
Love you videos! Will subscribe. One question. Do you peen your knife pins? I don't see you doing that in your videos. It seems as if you simply file them. If so, what keeps them from slipping out? Thanks
Hey thanks for subscribing and watching! Answer to your question is yes. I do hammering of peens for each knife! Just not showing in the videos. I appreciate the question, and will consider it as a suggestion. In next videos I can include that part 😊👍
Great work man, i wanna custom mi vic's, but i dont know how to put the pins back in to assamble it again.
Thanks 😊👍
I suggest you check out some videos where is explained how to place pins properly. It is not hard, just a bit of patience...
It came out gorgeous
Thanks Patrick, much appreciated!

Same to you my friend and a happy new year 🎆 as well 🍻to many more good years.
That is some skills with hand tools. Not so much for knifes, but seeing finished make me want it. Respect to your skills 👍
Thanks!
Very nice! I carried a Swiss army knife when I was in the infantry...I think it was an explorer model. People don't realize how personal an item like that becomes.
Thanks a lot! Glad to hear that! That is totally true 😆👍
As a former grunt, I know EXACTLY what you mean. Unfortunately, the s.a.k. I had back then "grew legs". And just recently bought a brand new one! (To replace the Wenger I replaced my original one with!).

Мне нравится ваш стиль , что вы делаете все без электро инструментов. Ваша аура меня восхищает и приносит спокойствие.

I loved the olive wood! What a great pattern!
Yes it is great, no doubt about that 😊
Thanks for watching!
Boris, this video made me subscribe. Your work is impeccable and the result is spectacular. Was this knife issued to the Wehrmacht? Heer, Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe?
Hi there and welcome!
Thank you so much, I really do appreciate it. It is highly possible since has marking "G.M.429221" and barrel stamp. This is what I found recently: ¨ _Rare, Peres made specifically for the German Military during WWII a pocket folding knife given specific numbering beginning with "G.M."_ ¨
If that knife could only talk....great restoration and a new life ahead.
Thanks Paul 👍
Great, fantastic!
Many thanks Ricardo 😊
Absolutely beautiful

Very nice job I love again the fact that you do all that by hand that is always awesome and I think I may get me one of those as well a hand-held auger cuz I don't normally thought I would use one of those but for what you're using a small one for I may actually get one of those cuz for small knives like that it's actually pretty handy great job keep up the good work you turned an old rusted knife that no one would normally buy at a flea market and turned it into a beautiful looking knife and ready to get back to work
