“Lectric Trike Canopy Height” Richard, I cut 5” off the height of my trike canopy. Don’t look much different but in goes in and out of the garage with about 2 1/2” below the door. I cut the top off the 4 poles just below the canopy and drilled new holes for the pins. I also painted to prevent any rusting and it looks factory. I cut it with a Plummer’s tube cutter and it worked fine on the thin wall pipe without distortion. If I had it to do over I would cut 8” off but I’ll be running LED lights in the canopy for our town Christmas Parade this year so I’ll drape them down about 10”. I’m also using the canopy poles for my turn signals because it’s higher and more visible. It took about 2 hours to cut and drill the pin holes. Hope your canopy adjustment goes as well as mine.
I’ve had the electric scooter canopies from China. They were poorly built and I had to reengineer them for safety reasons. But I’ll say one thing. They were able to enclose the scooter via a system of zippers. So I really like the attachment system here. Solid so won’t come off. The failure is definitely the height. The higher it goes less shade for the rider. And instead of screws ( outside of actual bike body attachments) I would use a push button system ( similar to ones used on popup canopies legs) so you can disconnect it easily into two pieces for transporting the bike or just if you don’t want it on all the time.
FYI; I need a canopy because like right now it is going to be 114 degrees out today. And I used my scooters to get to work. Now; because of Balance issues, have to raise the money for something faster than a mobility scooter to get to places for the future. My eyesight failing unfortunately.
Hi Richard, really like the canopy review. I'll be interested about the modification to lower the top. I agree with you, it's too tall. I've been in our local hometown Christmas parade for several years and the last three on eBikes. This year I will be on the Lectric Trike. I have purchased the canopy in hopes it will be nice for the parade. Keep up the good job on your reviews as they are informative and enjoyable. Thomas .Armstrong
Lectric has had a string of great products, so I guess they are bound to have a fail occasionally. I have seen this idea implemented in a much better fashion in SE Asia. There they use a single arm behind the driver's seat and a much smaller canopy. Looks and works much, much better. Thanks for the honest review.
You have got o many trikes iwish i was as smart as you i been tring to get a three seat trike to take my mom out she is 84 it to hard to walk the way things are its hard but i love your videos thank you for all the information you give you are appreciated
When I first saw that, I thought "Why so tall?" You could chop 18" out, add a 6" side/rear curtain and have better shade, less wind load, and IMO better visual appeal. However, because of the slant of the corners, chopping anything out will cause alignment issues. I wonder if you can tip it back on the rear wheels and clear the door before the fenders scrape?
Seriously... it is a matter of t time before things break on Ebikes... Gary could have a viral Ebike repair channel. Every single one will break down over time.
I love Lectric bikes and trikes, but what were they thinking when they decided the trike needs a canopy to begin with? And tall enough to sail a ship? And isn’t easy on/easy off? Ridiculous.
I was watching on my roku and had to turn on the pc to comment... what the heck lectric? Why would you go to all the trouble to make a bike that goes through outside doors then sell this? Modify the heck out of it Richard. Make it any size you want by drilling holes and using a cotter pin type of set up. You can make it so it is like getting in and out of a car. kind of height difference as long as it is not too much bend. Then you can lower the wind screen that comes with it and trim it if you like. You are only limited by the boundaries of your imagination and hopefully some common sense. LOL I will tell you one thing... modifying is something I would absolutly do... but I should not HAVE to modify a new $200 canopy. I am pro lectric... but this is really bad.
It says it’s suppose to block wind and bugs.? Where is the windshield that is shown in the stock photo? $200 and no windshield what is the point? And yeah it’s way too high…. Hell I’d take a good foot off that thing. It looks ridiculous!
Need to put on your thinking cap Richard. Rent scaffolding one person job. Weld up some angle iron and cut a notch at the top of the door jam to the garage. For safety's sake, this is a one person job as the other person may have debris fall on their head. Construct a block and tackle to raise the welded angle into place. Again, for safety's sake, this should be a one person job as we do not want to take a chance on anybody getting hurt. Oh darn, Scratch that idea. It will take a second person to stand back and look so that everything becomes level. I am at a loss. lol
DO YOU LOVE LECTRIC??? --------------- SUBSCRIBE! We do too.

It really doesn't make sense that it's that high.
On a blustery day, it may just allow Amanda to fly up, up in the air. Amanda Poppins.
I’m glad you made such a detailed and honest review. This would be a hard pass for me. Too difficult to install, too tall, and I live in a windy area.
For me, I think the canopy will be worth it, even if I have to cut it. That is because I want a frame for transparent rain curtains.

Thank you so much for your support Thomas! Good luck from both of us, with this years' parade and the canopy! -Amanda

you could cut the pipe lower it a little then drill new holes for the bolts put back together
living in the mountains of Colorado, I can see why they put it high, not too obstruct the views.
It's interesting but I think in New Orleans it would act as a sail on one of our many windy days and the bike might land in Mississippi.
If the canopy height were adjustable and had easy zip on sides for rain protection, this would be a great product.

Yeah drill out for more holes that’s a great ideal, Richard there you go you and Gary fix the other companies problems

where did you get your mirrors?
Like the mirrors also.
What a pain...drill new holes for the pole pins...?
I like the idea of it too. But your right Way too high Did you put the plastic wind screen on it
Does this ever go on sale? At what price?

This would be a good base for solar panels.
Does it need to be that high??
Personally I just don’t see this being a top seller unless they make it more portable and easier to install.
Can you lift if from the front and roll it on its 2 rear wheels? Why did they make it so damn tall?
And this is supposed to help you avoid...........What? The midday sun? Rain with no wind? Bird droppings?
I'm really not sure.

junk I'd probably end up using it on something else like a golf cart or maybe over a lawn chair lol
It would be good for golfers
A Panama hat under the helmet will do the same thing.
Lie it down on a giant piece of card board and slide it through
Why is it so high ??😮
BTW, what is your personal favorite eBike and eTrike so far?
It says it’s suppose to block wind and bugs.? Where is the windshield that is shown in the stock photo? $200 and no windshield what is the point? And yeah it’s way too high…. Hell I’d take a good foot off that thing. It looks ridiculous!
They thought that people would park it in the driveway?

I dont see the point of htis canopy on a windy day you would have trouble with the throttle, make your motor work harder and shorten battery distance
Yeah, it’s definitely way too tall. They should’ve cut it off at least 6 inches.
This is bad engineering, I'm sure Moon cool or Addmotor can produce one properly, Golf carts got nice ones...BE SAFE.....
