My XP Trike had a lot worse wobble on the right side as well as 2 fenders that were so tight against the wheel, the wheel wouldn't turn. I finally go some room so it would turn but bent the fenders in the process. It was after that I discovered my bent axel. They sent me a box to return it with, and then they sent me a new XP Trike that had no problems whatsoever. It takes a little while to get through to them on the phone or a couple days for them to answer an email, but then they are really really good for their customer support. That is why I bought from them in the first place. I am quite happy with my xp trike now.,
I am glad it worked out for you. For some reason, some people are having a hard time getting them to send parts or even to address the problems. But then some people like yourself has a good response.
first trike lasted 200 miles before right bearing started popping .....they sent me a new trike....second trike lasted 10 miles before bearing started popping....both had bent fenders.
Fed ex mangled our rear fenders and rear wheels, Lectric has been very responsive and is replacing all of it asap. Will check out the rear brake and clean also as a pre caution, thanks for your video and happy riding
My gosh if i got this frustrated watching this i can imagine how you felt. This is absolutely uncalled for from a well known Company. At least you got it on video & i think a full bike replacement is what’s needed IMO. Hang in there & thanks for sharing this😉👍
I’m having a problem like that also so I stumbled on this video and I’m glad I did, so I’m going to try and fix my trike, lord help us, we might have to sue them 😢
Wow 😮 I’m praying 🙏 that they will help us, I’ve had mine for a few weeks and I’m not able to ride it so disappointed ☹️, class action lawsuit against them, it’s a lot of money tied up in these electric trikes
@@earlinesblack1361 They still have not responded to the emails, but they did respond the same day on facebook. They are sending me a new fender and brake assembly. Apparently the axles and slight wheel wobble is "normal".
From other reviews I have watched I did not think there would be these kinds of problems. I do not think most seniors want to do this diddling around to correct all these issues. This is the problem when you are not getting the bike from a bike shop where they could fix it up before you even got the bike. Have to guess many other mail order bikes have some issues as well. Great that he shares how he fixed things, just the same.
@@victoriasansome4049 Yours is a sad story I keep hearing. If you cant bend them to make them move, contact Lectric via their facebook page, they respond much faster there. Take pictures and then I would remove the fenders completely. At least you would be able to use the trike while you wait for new ones to arrive.
Thanks. Just got one, no damage. I have not got it out yet (March snowstorm). Bit as a result of watching this I did clean the brake rotors. It was not obvious but there was something there. So you may have saved me some trouble. Thanks again
Purchased for 86 year old mom. Arrived in Delaware from Lectric with no damage. Even the box was in good shape. I watched all the videos on the trike. So I knew about the possible brake contamination issues etc. No wobbles on any wheel. Looks much better in person than any of the videos. Went together just like advertised. Very easy for my 86 year old mom to ride. We did replace the seat and put mirrors on. Very good range too. Mostly on PAS 3. Best value for a purpose built trike. Mom loves it. Too bad you’re having issues. These Letric trikes are in high demand. They will take care of your issues.
Great to hear you didn't have any problems. I know the silent majority probably love the trike and didn't have any issues. Just too bad for those of us that do. They are out of parts and don't know for sure when I'll get them.
You are not being too picky. Mine arrived earlier this week and I had the same problem! The fenders were jammed into the tires. It feels like there is a wobble, so we are going to do your wobble test - thanks for posting.
First of all, thank you for doing these videos! I like seeing real people do actual real reviews on a product they are actually using. This would so aggravate me. You spend a lot of money on a product, it comes to you pretty damaged and they expect you to fix it but stuff just keeps breaking. You haven't even had this trike very long. This is disappointing. Was really looking at getting one. Have you or anyone done a review on the Addmotor trikes? Been looking at the TRIKETAN M-330F. It also has a Rear-Mounted Motor.
Thanks for the kind words. I have not worked with addmotor but we did research their trike. We initially purchased a EMOJO Bison Pro because of the larger battery, suspension, hydraulic brakes and the seat sits a little lower. But its a big bike, so we decided to try the Lectric XP. Welike the Lectric XP better, its easier to handle, smaller, and rides good. I just hope we can get everything fixed on it.
TY E-Bike Reviews. By watching this video you helped me resolve my issue of a bent Fender from Shipping. I was able to remove my right back tire and bend the Fender away from my tire. It was scrapping so bad and bent towards the tire that it would not move even if you pushed the bike or put it in PSA1. I am happy to say I will do my 1st ride tonight when the day cools off a bit. The lights are working so if it gets dark there is no problem, plus I live on a Dead End street, Not much traffic. Thanks again. GREAT HELPFUL VIDEOS.
thanks for your video. just received our trike today and videoed the box before opening. was a little rough but when we opened it, everything was fine. found out that the fenders are now plastic; so no dents or bent fenders. also cleaned the rotors before activating the brakes. by the way, the bike is a 2024 model.
The oil on the bike metal parts is corrosion inhibiting spray they use on account of the salty ride from china. They should note that in the multitude of warnings ( disclaimers) they supply
To check if the rear axles is straight, you need to observe the axle itself, not the axles sleeve that incerts into the frame. While you had the rear wheel off the trike, you should try to check the spoke tension of the wheel. The force required to dent the rear fender to the extent that it is, likely bent the rear wheel; so that's on the shipping company, not on Lectric. To clean the disc rotors & pads, use Brillo Pads & minimal water, clean off with paint thinner or acetone. Remove the brake caliper if need to, in order to reach the brake pads with Brillo pads. If there is no resistance in brake lever when you squeeze it, you don't just keep squeezing the lever and let more fluid leak out. Find the hydraulic fluid leak and clean the frame immediately of the fluids. That's just basic brake operation & repair knowledge. When you've found that the OEM brake pads were contaminated, that's when you should have been looking for hydraulic fluid leak. Repeated brake tests that you did in the video just made the problem worse and eventually caused the complete failure of the rear brake.
vfr1, I don't doubt what you say is true, but I think it must be a common problem with the trike. I've seen other videos in which they talked about a dirty rear rotor. Mine was greasy, too. I haven't seen a leak.
That will be a disaster when senior folks or disabilities got this etrike (That's exactly what they advertise), i can not imagine it, Lectric should be grateful you can fix this by yourself, I believe there are many folks faced with these problems but they dont know how to deal with it. hey Lectric where is your service team?
Totally agree. Wife and I would buy one if we could get a local bike shop to do what are clearly Warranty service issues. We are not able to take these things apart and repair them ourselves but can happily and safely operate them.
I am 80 years old and have one leg. I took mine out of the box and put together myself. And I had the same finder problem. If he would just look around you will see that the fender bracket has slots in them. Just back out the screws and adjust the fender and tighten the screws back up. Buy the way I did this in a wheelchair. I have watched at least 6 other people who bought their Lecrtic XP and and had none of the problems he has had, Kind of makes me wonder about his skills.
I’m a handy kind of guy so these issues seem minor to me. So minor that yesterday I placed an order for two XP trikes and the pet trailer. Can’t wait to get them
Got ours in June. Hardly used it and the ball bearings in the front hub started falling out. Took it to a bike shop for repair. Told Lectric about it, asking for a new front wheel as bike shop said that the part looked like it was made on a Friday (is slightly out of round). Lectric wants pictures and a video of the parts that hold the ball bearings. Wish we had known that, we would have had the bike shop take the pictures when they were taking it apart. Now we know better for the next time it happens (and it probably will). Today one of the rear tires has a flat. Again, hardly used. We seem to be batting a zero with this thing.
I received my Xp a few days ago and both of my fenders were smashed in like yours and the display screen has a chip on one of the corners. I contacted Lectric and sent pictures and am waiting to here back from them, I hope they make it good. They need to reevaluate their packaging. Great video!
You may never hear from them via email. Go to their facebook page and send a message with the order number and pictures. You are likely to get a response that way. Good luck.
Sorry to see your trike arrived damaged. I just got mine today and it was perfect! I even took it for a ride already. I think you need a replacement. Lectric bikes should just send a replacement and pick up the damaged one.
Your video is making me think twice as to whether or not I should get the EP trike. Hopefully in the year since this video has been released they have addressed these issues and concerns.
Had a rear flat at mile 55. No slime pre-installed like they said it should be. Got new tubes from Lectric sent but replaced in the meantime and filled with Flat Out all around. Definitely had VERY dirty rotors as well, but had seen to clean those before setting out on our first ride. Slightly bent fenders, but not dented like yours. Otherwise, has been great for us!
Just got my trike today, fenders are bent and hopefully the wheels aren't. I'm a 69 yr old lady and not mechanically inclined, so I don't know what to do. I sent an email with pics so hopefully they will help me.
@@valschember6011 If the fender are not crushed and simply bent, you or someone you know can just pull them back out so they don't rub on the tire. At least you would be able to ride it while waiting for replacement fenders.
I lost my PAS after 50 miles so I just use throttle which don't mind and I currently have 175 miles on trike. I ride a couple miles daily because I don't have a car. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase.
Everyone should know. I bought 2 lectric trikes for me and my wife last July. One of the trikes came with a bent wheel on the back, and the other one had two flat tires. Lectric ebikes sent us a new wheel but I bought new tubes for the tires. Now both bikes have bad rear axle bearings and the bikes are not usable. We have put 117 miles on one trike and 104 miles on the other all neighborhood riding. I sent video of the bearing movement, and noise. they told me I had to pack up the bike in original packing and ship it back 1000 miles just to get it fixed or replaced. I asked for a shop service manual but they refused. These bikes are cheaply made and service is poor. So much for savings.
Always hold the seller accountable - they have the relationship with the manufacture - NOT You! They will try to make them happy. The seller's job is to make you happy, and I would be a tickled seller to have you have the skill sets to do the work.
Having seen your review of the ADDMOTOR trike, I’m thinking the XP trike motor may not be the right motor and thinking about my childhood tricycle with the smaller wheels on the rear, the design of the ADDMOTOR might provide more stability with the slightly smaller wheels on the back. Hope you will review the ADDMOTOR. Thanks for your reviews.
Hi Richard sorry to hear about your etrike. It’s very frustrating when something breaks or you can’t fix or you try to fix but it doesn’t work. Well I hope you get it fixed soon wishing all the best!!!
Thanks, they are offering to have a local shop fix the fender and the brake assembly, apparently the engineer says the axel is fine. I'll see how it goes and how it turns out when I get the parts.
Both my rear fenders were dinged like that... Contacted Customer Support and they mailed me new fenders promptly... My issue NOW is, after it's first folding/unfolding there's a "wiggle gap" of about a quarter inch between the front forks frame and the rear half of the chassis... It's locked in like the Owners Manual says, but it gets that gap when hitting bumps or turning left...
Rotors are coated with a grease or oil from the manufacturer to prevent rusting in shipment. Anyone that has ever replaced a rotor on their car knows you need spray them with brake cleaner and wipe them down before using or as you found out contamination of the brake pads will result. I put the blame on Lectric for not educating riders that purchase their products. A warning sticker would go a long way in this case.
I got my lectric tri 9:01 ke couple weeks ago, I don't have those noises, could be that since you have only one wheel is free to rotate and one grounded on the ground Both wheels are supposed to be rotated by the hub
The trike we received also had “wheel wobble” on both rear wheels. We were asked to send a video with and without the wheels. They sent two replacement wheels. The wobble is less, but not completely eliminated. We will, at this point, live with it. Otherwise, it is a very good trike at an excellent value.
Thanks for the comments. They told me mine was fine so I am pressing forward with it for now. If we have any issues with abnormal tire wear on that side, I will contact them again. It is a great value trike. I just replaced the brake assembly, will try to get that video out tomorrow. My wife loves it.
Thank you for taking the time to write in. Regrettably, our parts are not available for individual purchase. Warranty parts are exclusively available to customers who have made their bike purchases through Lectric. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. I understand that this policy might be frustrating, and I regret that we're unable to provide an alternative solution at this time. Thanks again for reaching out. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
Mine came with the fenders bent into the tires, not to bad though, I worked on them and they look ok. I didn't know about the oil on the disk! Front brake works fine rear is not as good! I live in the mountains of NC and I live on a hill, rode up and down the road and must have got the brakes warm and they work good! I just hope that rear brake handle don't fall apart especially if the wife is riding it. There is a very slight movement in the rim ,I think a bike shop could maybe get that rim true again . I like the trike, wife likes the trike just hope it holds together!
The trike we received also right rear fender was damaged. Call letric they are replacing fender butafter with miles on trike rr wheel not has a popping noise .oh and wheel like your trike also has a wobble. Called mznuf had me removewheeland check axel. Axel appeared ok but had movement when moving axel in bearing.appears that bearing is also bad.reinstalled wheel and moved side to side it wobbled really bad. Called manur after doing what they ask made idio also of axel, wheel wobble and popping in diffirental. HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FRROM THEM. SPOKE 3 DIFFRENT SUPPORT TECH AND THEY SAID MAY HAVE TOREPLACE TRIKE 25:51
If its the axle, they will replace it because it can't be repaired. Its a mess for sure. When the repairs are done, the trike is great. Its fun to ride, I just don't know how long the components will last before things wear out. Go to their facebook page, I got a response in 1 day and they sent parts right away. They don't seem to reply to emails much.
Well, my right fender looks like yours and my left wheel is bent beyond what spoke adjustment will do. I've been expecting new ones from Lectric. Instead, yesterday I received a brake assembly! Maybe it's for you? I also have to XP 3.0's and just did the hydraulic brake conversion. No problem, never said anything to Lectric so I figure it must be confusion with all the emails we've been exchanging. Besides the bent wheel and bashed fender, at 35 miles I have what I believe to be a wheel bearing gone bad. I'm thinking it may be just inside the axel housing where the thrust collar is. I also had the pawl on the parking brake lever break too. I still like it and bought it for my wife who is afraid to ride her 3.0, but hasn't felt up to riding the trike other than three learning sessions so far. I've been using it to walk and run my dog. Works great for that. On a bicycle I've been known to fall over when we decide to go different directions. So until I get the bearing resolved, it is out of operation. On the Facebook owner's group, there are a few people with the bearing problem.
Oh no, sorry to hear about all the problems. Well, I received my brake assembly so its not mine :-) . Like you I am still hopeful that this will work out for my wife. I actually enjoy riding it too, that's why I didn't mind ordering the new E-310 from Addmotor. If the XP does not work out we have a fall back. If it does, we may just hold on the E-310 too.
Just notified them re: bent fenders rubbing on tire. Makes a racket when I ride. They came back and offered to send new fenders and pay $60 to have a bike shop put them on. I'm one of the "elderly" folks this bike is marketed to. Also, in Northern WI where it's unlikely to find anyone to replace the fenders for $60. I'm going to try to bend them myself. wish me luck. 😬
Could not find a video related to my issues, so I hope E-Bike Reviews doesn't mind me piggy-backing onto his video. I don't have a video to post. After assembly, trike would not go with power. Re-checked all connections, battery installed of course, default settings, etc. Several back and forth emails and phone conversations with Lectric and testing. End results: 1-wire disconnected inside the housing holding the controller; I doubt if it came off during shipping. Four screws holding the access plate very tight and used a small impact wrench to loosen to avoid damaging the Philips heads. Wires too short to re-connect so had to disconnect other cables out side the frame to get enough wire to pull the controller out. 2-Display on and functional. 3-Stop lights always on, whether brake lever pulled or not. After swapping brake inhibitor cables at the levers, discovered the 22mm cable on the right lever faulty. WARNING: do not unscrew the inhibitor cable from the lever housing. It appears to be an electro-magnetic coupling, not mechanical or electric; how far it is screwed in may effect operation. Instead unplug the brake inhibitor cables at the normal connection points to isolate a faulting inhibitor cable. Lectric is sending new parts. My conclusion: trike was not properly tested before being shipped. Would I buy it again? Yes. Mine has no shipping damage. I have ridden it in the yard on gravel and the pedal assist and throttle will allow me to travel again without worrying I will be too tried to pedal home, up hill.
I must have had a guardian Angel watching over me. Fortunately the box was so damaged that FedEx refused to deliver it. Lectric’s packing issue must have been so bad that the trike probably damaged the box from not being secure. Also, fortunately, I got my full purchase price refunded. Thanks to all of you for making me understand not to purchase this trike. Also, the quality of the braking handle must be poor quality. Again, thanks for your reviews. I will consider another company for an strike. Earlier, I did purchase the XP 2.0 and haven’t had any issues so far. I regret having not waited a little longer and purchased the XP 3.0, but didn’t know it was coming out. On the bright side, the 2.0 has been out longer and maybe the 3.0 might be having issues. As a senior citizen on a limited income, you have made my emotional being so much better as I had wanted this etrike so badly.
Hey Ronnie, well sorry your delivery went so badly. I have heard from several people saying they didn't have any problems at all. It is the best value at the moment, so don't live without because you live in fear of damage. They have been good about taking care of it. We really like it. The Addmotor E-310 will be out in a couple of weeks. Its similar but better. But its also about $500 more. It may be something to consider.
I forgot to mention that prior to returning the bike, they sent me two new fenders which I got the day after the bike was returned and still have. They said to just keep them. They have good customer support for sure!
So sorry about your experience my new friend I got one by mail Sunday my brakes is also week going down the hill they didn't come with a manual I don't know how to get it out of Granny gear I've been watching UA-cam videos but they don't show how to get it out of gear so it will go faster I hope you get in touch with them jozea send you a new one I've been trying all week but no one answers the phone all my best Ramon from Athens Georgia
If your brakes are weak, check to see if there is oil on the disk, If so, clean it and put on new brake pads. As for changing the top speed, hold the + and the - at the same time until you enter the settings mode. Then press the power button until you see P22. Use the + to change the 0 to 1. Wait a few moments and the screen will go back to normal. That's it.
I haven’t had any problems. One reason is I watched unboxing videos from Lectic that said you should clean the break disks before riding the trike for the first time. We haven’t noticed any unusual noise. Love the trike.
I believe you have already shipped this trike back but Amazon has a Big Red scissors jack (T10152) that lowers to 4.1" for 22 bucks. This might help others with their trike maintenance.
Just bought this trike for the wife 3 weeks ago I had the same issue with rear fenders. Company has sent out new ones so we’ll see how that turns out when I see them. I’m also having a problem with the bike leaning to the left as you ride in a straight line. You really feel the difference when you turn to the right versus turning to the left. Have you or anyone reading this had the feeling of the leaning left when riding? Your post if I understand correctly is a year old…did you receive the help needed to fix issues? I have sent several pics and videos of our issues with the bike and I’m afraid they might try and spin me lol.
Now that I got the bent fenders away from the tires, I was able to try it. My right wheel wiggles so bad and barely rolls. I think Lectric needs to take my bike back and send me a new one.
Raise the back end off the ground, and unscrew the center bolt that holds the wheel on. Then throttle to get the axle moving. If the axle is bent, it cant be fixed and they will send a new trike once you return this one. If its only the wheel that is bent, they will send a new wheel. Currently wheels are on back order until mid October.
My new trike lost the PAS with less than 50 miles on the trike. I use the throttle and don't worry about the PAS. I now have 159 miles on trike and ride it a couple of miles daily as I don't have a car.
As you can see on the box there are signs that say ship right side up. But these things ship from Asia and may fit better on thru sides in the containers' and I know they fit better in the fed ex trucks on their sides. And the bottom side is usually where the and is usually bent.
i damaged the rear bearing by getting a flag wrapped up on it. Lectric said they wouldn’t sell me the replacement parts parts because of liability. I have 1300 miles on this bike and i love it , but what good is it if I can’t get parts. does anyone know the size of that rear bearing?
I’m so sorry for you! I’m waiting for mine to be delivered, I sure hope mine comes in good condition because this old lady doesn’t want to become a repair man! I’d demand my money back. Good luck
My trike arrived with a bent left wheel and bent axel The axel and tire rim were bent so bad that it could not turn inside the fender. The fender was undamaged. Waiting for Lectric to send a new shipping box so I can return the trike to Phoenix. Aberrantly the axel cannot be fixed with a replacement part so they want it returned. The original shipping box from the China factory is poorly designed because the trike can float inside the box if dropped in shipping.
I thought these things were made in the USA. Are the parts and packaging Chinese and the bikes merely assembled in the USA or just the packaging comes from China?
I heard back, they are saying the axle is fine, guess we will live with the wheel wobble. I know nothing is perfect. They are sending a new fender and brake assembly.
I have the same wobble in my wheel they sent me a new wheel but wounding if it the same issue as you have they sent me a new wheel but haven’t put it on
You can only go 14mph. I'm old and I run my trike around my little town, running my dogs. I just slow down, use a little brake and my feet. My DIY kit trike easily hits 20 mph. I won't ride faster than 16-17mph. 15 mph is dangerous. However, thanks for a close up look at Lectric. If my bone rattler gives out,,,, Lectric is what I can afford.
Also I got a question regarding magic cycle deer. Does your right hand hurt after riding the ebike? Cause for me the right side is very uncomfortable because the left handlebar grip is different from the right. As right hand bar grip has a twist throttle and the handbar grip where you grab is smaller then the left side. Is there a solution to this? 🤔
maybe replace with a thumb throttle? then replace the grips with a matching set? my ATV has a thumb throttle and matching grips. my motor bikes all had twist throttles but full matching grips, I am surprised that the thumb throttle is good for me. definitely not a half twist throttle person. that might be very awkward [IMO] I have seen several replace the half throttles with a thumb throttle and then matching grips. its a possibility. [something to try, each person will have their preference]
@@mikegrinsell1979 i looked to up and found a dew YT vids of just a zip tie on the twist throttle to make it "like" a thumb throttle. there are several options try & see what works best for you. custom ;)
You had cleaned the disk. How did it get contaminated again before you put the new pads in? If the bike is contaminating the disk because the oily chain is so close (or for whatever reason), that rear brake is always going to be a problem, isn't it? I have one of these trikes being delivered today. I keep hearing in different videos that the rear disk is contaminated. Dang!
I'm thinking the oil transferred back from the pads. That's why I need new pads and I will clean the disk again before the next installation. I hope its not coming from somewhere else. I don't see anything.
@@EbikeReviews I hope it's not coming from the bike, too. I got my trike today and cleaned the rotors. They were both dirty, but especially the rear one. I am interested in how your story turns out. I hope Lectric treats you right.
@@EbikeReviews Our trike seems to be okay except the trigger to set the parking brake won't catch on one side and is difficult on the other. But, wow, this thing is weird to ride! It's meant for my wife and I hope she will give herself a chance to get used to it. I don't understand the way they have the assist levels set. Why have three levels set to 12 mph? Shouldn't they be set to something like 7, 9, and 12?
@@DrBKBade Yeah the PAS is a little strange. But, try changing the top speed to 14mph, I think you will notice the difference in PAS Levels. Look on page 38 of the manual. You can find the manuals here: help.lectricebikes.com/article/lzlpwtbyer-lectric-user-manuals
ugh shipping damage just happens - my "guess" would be a bent wheel (?) you can test that by spinning wheel without the key in the axle OR better might be to spin it on a wheel stand & check it for true. [these type of stands can be handy to adjust spoke tension] as for disc brakes? spray brake klean has been mighty fine for clean up for me. [on new rotors n pads] Ive seen several mechanics use the stuff with success, So I tried it too. & was surprised how it works. on brake pads. . . some light stuff Ive seen the spray work, but heavy stuff required a bit of sanding, then spray brake kleen did it well. [on new pads] pads once run its hit & miss. on an auto once warmed up the pads have been embedded too much for a clean up. again just my opinion
I'm not seeing a wobble in the axle. The wheel looked bad so I'm guessing the wheel got knocked out of alignment when Fed EX dropped the box. A better test would be to lay a sheet of white paper on the ground with a line on it. If you want a real test, swap the wheels L/R. If the problem follows it's the wheel. As far as oil on the disc, I'll bet the factory does it to keep them from rusting until it's delivered. I'd ride it downhill while dragging the brake to get them good and hot. The broken brake lever is unacceptable. Don't people make emergency stops?
Yeah, it sucks. Especially after my wife rode it once and decided this is the one she wanted to keep. I'm still waiting to hear from them, I hope we can get the issues fixed right away so that we can continue using it and maybe get a full review video completed.
now im worried i just bought one and i live in northern Michigan i wonder what mines going to look like when it gets here gods i hope it dont get here all smashed im going to be pissed if it is
Oh I agree, its the shipper. But, poor packaging contributes to the problem. It seems everyone has fender problems because they are just not well supported and I pushed up against the side of the box.
Frustrating as I well know. I ordered an Amp Rides VOLT ST 1500w almost a month ago and still haven't been able to ride it due to poor packing and shipping plus an inoperable display and controls. They. have been slow to help but they seem to be trying. Parts are trickling in. Of course, they are under new ownership as of June 1st and I ordered on July 7th! $2200 bike!
Same problem!Trike arrived damaged and after limited use the hydraulic brake lever failed! Lectric apparently has no replacement parts inventory since fender replacement is end of August (perhaps) and hydraulic brake assembly timeline is indeterminate! Bike now unusable without rear brakes! UNACCEPTABLE LECTRIC!
Wow, I just heard from them yesterday and was told the brake assembly ships next week and fenders at the end of the month. I hope we don't have to wait months to get these fixed.
I hate to be the reason someone changed their mind. I really want to believe its going to be a good trike once we work thru the issues. Its a fun trike to ride and my wife really enjoyed it the two times she took it out.
I keep hearing from people saying they have a new XP trike with the same issues. Sorry it happened. I'm beginning to wonder if these problems are mostly the latest batch of XP trikes. It seems when it first came out there were less problems and people loved it.
@@EbikeReviewsFed Ex could be part of the problem, I was at the truck when the driver was getting ready to unload and the box looked like it had been rolled around on its sides and two of the white plastic latching clips were missing on the bottom of the box. I expected some damage after seeing the box.
@@mikefannon6770 Oh the boxes are mishandled by the carriers for sure. I get them delivered often that are all tore up. But, the packaging inside the box especially protecting the fenders could be better.
. I would ask 4 a Replacement ! It Should be covered by da Warranty ! ? Too much unnecessary work 4 a new trike owner ! They should stand behind their products ! ? ( Ya get what ya pay 4 ! ? )
Holy crap!!! Makes you wonder if hydraulic brakes are so great after all? The previous video was sponsored by RAD E trike, "When quality counts" Spend less, get less! I was suffering along with you, amigo. Sorry you have to go thru this BS.
LOL thanks. "Spend less get less" is right. So many people have purchased it and I have heard A LOT of good things from other consumers. I'm still hopeful that we can get this resolved and it will be a good trike for my wife. Not much else out there that is similar in size. I'm not a fan of RAD so not interested in their trike.
I have mixed feelings about your video. I completely agree that your trike should have come undamaged and that Lectric should make good on any problems you have, but watching this video I hear a lot of frustration and disappointment in your voice. If you are going to be a happy biker you need to use the right tools and products. Rubbing alcohol is not an effective brake cleaner. Get a can of automotive brake cleaner designed to clean and degrease brake surfaces. Cleaning the disc and soaking the pads in the brake cleaner probably would have solved your problem without having to replace the pads. You can’t accurately check the straightness of the axle by eyeball. To be very accurate, you need a dial indicator. I understand few people have one so the next best method is put something stationary, like your jack stand, up against the axle while you rotate it. That will make it much easier to see any defect. Use the same method to see if your wheel rim is bent or you have spoke problems. I am not trying to troll you, just trying to make your biking experience less frustrating.
I appreciate your comments. Yes, I was very frustrated. We all have something to learn, there's always a better way, but a person has to do the best they can with the knowledge and information or tools available to them.
This is why I am not a fan of these disc brakes; either hydraulic or cable . Rim brakes are much simpler to deal with but they don't generate the revenue stream for bike parts companies-- so they're doomed .
Oh no... I hadn't finished the video yet when I posted that. I'm so sorry to hear that trike turned out to be a POS. I hope they send you everything you need quickly. They should really let you go to a bicycle shop and you bill them for the repairs. You're already putting so much time and effort into it when it's not your fault. That sucks.
Send that piece of junk back!!!! Get refund and buy one from someone else. They might try to screw you over now for trying to fix the problem. Return! Demand refund. So sorry man. There are better trikes out there. Buy a Mooncool. TK1.
I mostly agree, but the only other trike this size that I am aware of is the RAD trike, and I don't like the RAD brand and I did test the trike and there were things about it I didn't like either. So my hopes are this one will work out after we get these issues fixed. We also paid $3000 for a trike that has a bad shimmy in the front we can't get corrected and little to no help from the company. So there's that also.
Thanks, hope you get your parts quickly.
My gosh if i got this frustrated watching this i can imagine how you felt. This is absolutely uncalled for from a well known Company. At least you got it on video & i think a full bike replacement is what’s needed IMO. Hang in there & thanks for sharing this😉👍
Thanks so much Reuben, several people have said a replacement is in order. I would just be happy to get parts so I can get going. :-)
I’m having a problem like that also so I stumbled on this video and I’m glad I did, so I’m going to try and fix my trike, lord help us, we might have to sue them 😢
Over time my back right wheel is grinding and scrubbing ,they said to tighten up the nuts but it’s already tightened
This trike is marketed to older folks, they cannot expect them to be as mechanically adept as you as a younger feller, are.
We kind a said the same thing about the Bison Pro.
Both of my fenders came bent; one was all the way to the side. I cannot straighten them to get the wheels to move.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the info. Explains a lot
You could have also switched rear wheels to see if the wiggle is still present
Just back out the screws and adjust the fender and tighten the
screws back up.
Can’t wait to get them
Its not too difficult if you don't need replacement parts. However, once you get everything worked out its great. Let me know how it goes.
I offered to fix both bearing problems on my trikes but they said the shafts were bent and not repairable
I wish they would replace it but they say the axle is fine. We shall see. Happy yours arrived with no problems.
Your video is making me think twice as to whether or not I should get the EP trike. Hopefully in the year since this video has been released they have addressed these issues and concerns.
XP Trike Owners - Please list any problems you have had below this thread.
Sounds like the cadence sensor is out. I would contact lectric and have them send you a new sensor. @@frankshattuck1975
Oh wow. I haven't noticed a problem like that. We don't fold ours though. Sure sounds like something has loosened up.
No other bike brand that I have tested sprayed the rotors. Agree, with all the warning tags, they should have made one for the rotors.
There is a lot to like, once you work past this shipping issues. Enjoy!
Wow, I have not heard of that problem. Glad you were able to get it resolved and that you didn't have shipping damage. Enjoy the ride!
Great - what are you going to do with fenders & no bike
That's it.
Thank you my friend I hope you will get your bike going again 😊

When they ask for a video of the brakes breaking you have a pretty good one.
LOL, yes I do.
For a handy floor jack look at a car scissor jack. easy to modify and you can run it up or down with a drill.
Thanks for the suggestion. I started using a jack stand for the moment.
Check your chain tension. There should be some slack or it will be loud.
Thanks for the tip, I'll check it too.
i damaged the rear bearing by getting a flag wrapped up on it. Lectric said they wouldn’t sell me the replacement parts parts because of
liability. I have 1300 miles on this bike and i love it , but what good is it if I can’t get parts. does anyone know the size of that rear bearing?
Could you please provide a link to the brake pads. Thanks
Sorry, here you go Steve. amzn.to/3DCh7Bk
I’m so sorry for you! I’m waiting for mine to be delivered, I sure hope mine comes in good condition because this old lady doesn’t want to become a repair man! I’d demand my money back. Good luck
Thank you for creating this video👍
Your welcome.
Could you swap in the front brake pads to see how your rear brake stopping power is impacted?
I could, but I already purchased a new set of pads for the rear, just need the brake assembly and fender to get it all repaired.
@@EbikeReviews gotcha. What was the part that failed with the rear brake?
@@settinger14 I'm not sure, it was a piece of metal that sheered off and fell out.
At this point I would tell the company to either pay for a bike shop to fix it or send you a replacement, you should not be fixing a defective bike
Agree! This is getting ridiculous, it's not like you're buying something used with no warranty.
Thanks, I wish they would. We shall see what happens, soon hopefully.
Well, at least they are replacing it for you. Shameful they still have not fixed the packaging.
I thought these things were made in the USA. Are the parts and packaging Chinese and the bikes merely assembled in the USA or just the packaging comes from China?
The trike is assembled in China and shipped from China to you.
It looks like the bearing carrier to me the axle shaft looks pretty (not perfect) straight. But the bearing carrier or race looks out of round.
I heard back, they are saying the axle is fine, guess we will live with the wheel wobble. I know nothing is perfect. They are sending a new fender and brake assembly.
Looks like you've turned your garage into a kind of a bicycle shop.
Yes, the more bikes you have the more maintenance is required. I need a few things though. Bike stand, Truing stand.. in time.
I have the same wobble in my wheel they sent me a new wheel but wounding if it the same issue as you have they sent me a new wheel but haven’t put it on
When you put the new wheel on, check the axle like I did. I'm still waiting to hear from them. How long did it take them to reply to you?
What did they say that caused the front brake to snap like that
@@jacobschwartz6721 I still have not heard from anyone about any of the problems yet. Tomorrow I will be on the phone I guess.

maybe replace with a thumb throttle?
then replace the grips with a matching set?
my ATV has a thumb throttle and matching grips.
my motor bikes all had twist throttles but full matching grips,
I am surprised that the thumb throttle is good for me.
definitely not a half twist throttle person. that might be very awkward [IMO]
I have seen several replace the half throttles with a thumb throttle and then matching grips.
its a possibility. [something to try, each person will have their preference]
I have seen thumb throttle attachments that go on with a zip-Tye. no need to replace anything look on esty
@@DrBKBade I'll keep everyone updated. I hope its not coming from the chain, if so, I don't see a fix.
You can find the manuals here: help.lectricebikes.com/article/lzlpwtbyer-lectric-user-manuals
ugh shipping damage just happens -
my "guess" would be a bent wheel (?)
you can test that by spinning wheel without the key in the axle OR better
might be to spin it on a wheel stand & check it for true.
[these type of stands can be handy to adjust spoke tension]
as for disc brakes? spray brake klean has been mighty fine for clean up for me. [on new rotors n pads]
Ive seen several mechanics use the stuff with success, So I tried it too. & was surprised how it works.
on brake pads. . .
some light stuff Ive seen the spray work, but heavy stuff required a bit of sanding,
then spray brake kleen did it well. [on new pads]
pads
once run its hit & miss. on an auto once warmed up the pads have been embedded too much for a clean up.
again just my opinion
I'm not seeing a wobble in the axle. The wheel looked bad so I'm guessing the wheel got knocked out of alignment when Fed EX dropped the box. A better test would be to lay a sheet of white paper on the ground with a line on it.
If you want a real test, swap the wheels L/R. If the problem follows it's the wheel.
As far as oil on the disc, I'll bet the factory does it to keep them from rusting until it's delivered. I'd ride it downhill while dragging the brake to get them good and hot.
The broken brake lever is unacceptable. Don't people make emergency stops?
That sucks you are having troubles like that. Would not have thought you would with the Letric brand
Yeah, it sucks. Especially after my wife rode it once and decided this is the one she wanted to keep. I'm still waiting to hear from them, I hope we can get the issues fixed right away so that we can continue using it and maybe get a full review video completed.
shipping damage is very typical in the bike industry, ebikes are even worse. If its fedex or UPS, they will be tossing it end over end for sure.
Yep, I get a lot of crushed ebike boxes from both of them.
now im worried i just bought one and i live in northern Michigan i wonder what mines going to look like when it gets here gods i hope it dont get here all smashed im going to be pissed if it is
It comes damaged imo due to shipper I.e. FedEx. The employees between the 2 companies are night and day diff
Oh I agree, its the shipper. But, poor packaging contributes to the problem. It seems everyone has fender problems because they are just not well supported and I pushed up against the side of the box.
Where that fender is dented it pushes the brake light backside into the tire be aware
My dad’s was damaged to needs fenders
As far as cleaning your disk brakes get some auto disk brake cleaner works just fine.
I have used that too. Works fine.
$2200 bike!
What is the date of this video?
Yesterday!
.
🍋 Maybe Ya Just Got A LEMON ? ! ? Crappolla ! 🍋
.
Yeah maybe.
Too many problems to list with XP Trike, damaged fenders, bent axle, customer service is brutal...
was gonna buy one, but after all the negative reviews about packaging, damaged part etc. would rather spend more for a more reputable brand!!
BRAKE CLEANER !
Thanks for the video. Was on the verge to splurge. Saved me a lot of potential grief!
I hate to be the reason someone changed their mind. I really want to believe its going to be a good trike once we work thru the issues. Its a fun trike to ride and my wife really enjoyed it the two times she took it out.
You need to ck the tire / rim for ' out of true' spin it - rims probably bent
Tire / rim would bend before axle
This dood is anel, but the company should cover the woranty and the problems!
Thank you for making this video, we we have a new trike with 2 damaged fenders, left rear wheel wobble and brake issues.
I keep hearing from people saying they have a new XP trike with the same issues. Sorry it happened. I'm beginning to wonder if these problems are mostly the latest batch of XP trikes. It seems when it first came out there were less problems and people loved it.
@@EbikeReviewsFed Ex could be part of the problem, I was at the truck when the driver was getting ready to unload and the box looked like it had been rolled around on its sides and two of the white plastic
latching clips were missing on the bottom of the box. I expected some damage after seeing the box.
@@mikefannon6770 Oh the boxes are mishandled by the carriers for sure. I get them delivered often that are all tore up. But, the packaging inside the box especially protecting the fenders could be better.
Those are still s[poked wheels...and probably the issue...they are out of balance is all. Easily fixed with a simple tool. Good luck!!
Dont tell me youre going to put back together before spinning wheel
.
I would ask 4 a Replacement ! It Should be covered by da Warranty ! ?
Too much unnecessary work 4 a new trike owner ! They should
stand behind their products ! ? ( Ya get what ya pay 4 ! ? )
Agreed, but they will probably just send parts that i have to install. That is usually how it works. Too expensive sending ebikes back and forth.
You can burn the contamination off the brake pads. Pyrotechnics here we come! 😂
Looks like tire do tire first much easyer
I would return the trike. I won’t even put a sweat n extra money. It’s their job to correct the damage.
SPRAY BRAKE CLEANER ON IT AND CONTAMINATED PADS
This is why I am not a fan of these disc brakes; either hydraulic or cable . Rim brakes are much simpler to deal with but they don't generate the revenue stream for bike parts companies-- so they're doomed .
oh FINE, blame US... 😅
That sucks.
@@ChristmasEve777 Thanks for the comments. Yep, I hope to hear from them soon.
WOW!!! It's time to send it a.lback. I am sorry you had to endure all the problems.... but I am sure, like me, I won't be buying this brand!
If they fix all the problems it may be a good trike. Time will tell.
Send that piece of junk back!!!! Get refund and buy one from someone else. They might try to screw you over now for trying to fix the problem. Return! Demand refund. So sorry man. There are better trikes out there. Buy a Mooncool. TK1.
Axle looks straight to me.
hard to see in the video, the close up shot I sent to Lectric shows it better. Here, what do you think? ua-cam.com/video/WX3LAlk-4kI/v-deo.html
Nope I’m buying me the rad or liberty trike next year if the lord spear my life thank you Jesus
Yeah, I don't know how so many people talk about these being the best trikes. So disappointed so far.
you get what you pay for.
Junk. Nothing but pure junk, then these bikes end up in our landfills.
