Bought it plus the Healtech based on your Vid, thanks for the upload. Great bit of kit but the problem with the Healtech is that the engine needs to be running. So if you are wanting to adjust settings on the road, engine will need to run.
Mmm it's intresting but it does raise the question of just how much clutter you want or indeed need stuck on the bars, along with the excess of wiring running all over the place, some will like it but to a lot of the old school riding type it's an unwanted and unneeded complexity, tho the camera idea is useful on modern roads, nice review tho 😊
I use the Fuzeblock. It connects to the battery and an ignition powered switch, then depending on the fuse position it can be used as a switched feed or permanently on. It also reduces the amount of connectors on the battery.
I suppose this swag is OK if you are a tech nerd , but I don’t even want half the tech they shove on modern bikes . I can’t be doing with all that gubbins cluttering up my handlebars or instrument console . I still haven’t bothered to set the right time ,or switch the oil service light off my screen in 3 years of ownership of my newest bike . Happen I will still give you a thumbs up for your efforts & channel , but it’s a no big cigar award for nerdy electrickery. I am an old school spanner man , an acumen charger & multimeter is about as high tech as I get . 😎👍
Nice bit of kit! I would definitely buy one of these if I had a Touring bike etc. It might look a bit out of place on my 350 Classic 😀 The Healtech Thunderbox looks a good solution for bike wiring!
That looks like a nice unit. I actually just ordered through your link and will be installing on my V7 Special. Let us know how the unit performs for you as you get some miles with it. I believe the shipping time to here in Canada will be 7 -14 days so will unfortunately be a while before I receive it lol. Thanks for the review and appreciate the discount code! Cheers Kevin (Caledon, ON, Canada)
Great review, about to pull the trigger on one for my Himalayan but unsure on whether to go C5 or C6. I appreciate that the number relates to size in inches but would you mind confirming is that the length along longest edge or is it corner to opposite corner? Oh , was up in your area yesterday on a work course, stayed in Gargrave, oh you’re a very lucky guy living up there👍🏻
Worth pointing out. Android Auto wireless requirements: Your phone needs to run at least Android 11. Google and Samsung phones can run Android 10. Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, and Note 8 handsets can do with Android 9.0. 5GHz Wi-Fi support. You’ll also need data access.
Mate!!! You've just, in the nick of time, saved me £130!! I was just going to pull the trigger on a Hex ezcan for my bike to add some accessories. Turns out the healtech will do exactly what I need.....no you're not getting a cut 😂
Ah yes I think they work in different ways.... as I understand it the ezcan works with the canbus and can be programmed via laptop to power different accessories whereas the thunderbox just gives you 4 switched live feeds for accessories
@thebingleywheeler it does but I only need a switched feed and I'm petrified of keying into something that will bugger up the can bus. Never knew the healtech existed until now but it is exactly what I want.
Couple of questions for you or any other users : 1) Is the view of the rear camera wide enough to act as a blind spot check? 2) Can you display the rear view on top of navigation view, picture in picture style? Thanks
Well I've bought one TBW took a punt could not resist with the TBW discount , what bar mount are you using with the Aoocci and which would be the best product to link to it for in helmet sound ,since I am clueless on this kind of stuff advice , from someone who knows would be very helpful this looks exactly what I need for trips out and about if it ever stops raining 😉👌👍
Hi Dave, great video. I ordered one of these and recently used it for the first time on a trip to the Pennines and Dales. Straightforward to fit. However, a couple of times I’ve checked tyre pressures- and put this on the system, but constantly getting warnings that front pressure tyre is too high, or low and the the back one etc etc- have you come across this? Or is there a way to disable this facility? I may be doing something glaringly wrong, but find the instructions aren’t the best. Also, is there a quick way of downloading footage onto your phone? Can’t find an app- and the support team are only available via email? I’ve just set a channel up- going into the murky world of posting reviews etc, so any tips appreciated! Ps- enjoy watching your vids
Hi if you go into the tpms section you can set the parameters for when the alarm shows (lower and upper pressures and temperatures range before the warning comes on). To get footage onto a phone I believe you’ll have to put the sd card in and transfer over
Spotted you today at Masham but by the time I realised it actually was you, you were on your Bike and as I walk over you rode away. Possibly I’ll see you there again
@@thebingleywheeler yes I should. When you walked by me I looked and thought he looks very familiar, but you were already on your bike by the time I really connected maybe another day. Very nice looking bike by the way. Mine was the Royal Enfield super media 650 parked about 35ft away.
I bought one of these for my Honda Blackbird following your review. Looks good. Mounting was an issue because of the flat bars l have installed. Got it mounted but it seems to shake a little. Did you have this issue? Many thanks for the review.
Nice screwdriver juggling Dave. Nice to see a cameo appearance by Eddie. I assume that your Garmin would be redundant now then if you use your phone maps. If you use your phone maps do the cameras record at the same time ? I’ve seen similar ones but they are a lot more expensive. Does the thunder box work with the BMW can bus system I wonder ? Enjoyed the video especially Eddie
Cheers Pal yes as far as I can gather cameras operate independently of CarPlay. And the thunder box needs to be attached direct to battery so it can monitor the alternator output. PM me for more detailed info 😉
Interesting idea Dave, especially in this days of some really appalling driving....ie:- phone using tractor drivers ....Hell! Dave l thought you were going to burst into the song ''Your hip bones connected to you leg bone, you leg bones connected etc, etc!'' ...Bike electrics are certainly moving on a pace. l changed from using Maps on my iPhone to a Top of the range Tom Tom just a few months ago... We are spoiled for choice thats for sure..Just one point Dave, can the touch sensitivity be changed so you can used a gloved hand to change functions ?...Because l noticed you removed your glove when touching the screen..Greetings from España.
Hi There. Great video. Thank you very much! Could you please tell me about the connectivity to your phone and helmet and device? Is it one way communication.. Bluetooth from phone to helmet to device? Or is it the stupid two way channel thing with built in wireless and bluetooth separately?
Have you managed to get any footage on your phone from the app? When I connect it just gives me a black screen for live feed and no videos download to my phone when connected
Quick question on the functionality, when you've got your screen running on any modes, other than the one with the dash display, do you get any sort of speed indication? So, on the satnav screen or the main menu screen? I tend to have my satnav on all the time, as it alerts me about traffic problems etc.
Great vlog and very interesting i just do not see the point in all this just keep your mind on the road and not on all that fancy stuff you know you do not need. Just ride the bludy bike and enjoy it
Hey Dave, have you sussed out what the best recording settings are? I installed this unit yesterday and had a little outing.. Watching it back, it seems to have recorded random bits of my journey. Nothing at actual start and in time line order.
Hi it records in 3 or 5 minute loops I think the idea being that if something happens you will stop and be able to review the footage there should also be an option to allow it to record until the card fills up and then to overwrite
Hi TBW, do i need a TFT as standard on my bike for this to work? The reason i ask i have a 2014 CRF 250 basic LED dash , no Abs etc, but this would be a great help living in Khao Lak Thailand.
Just wondering is the power cable 3 pin connector from the actual display unit waterproof as they are short enough and i have mine cable tied behind the display unit ....any advice greatly appreciated
