Because of a video like this I joined your channel and the truth is your way of explaining is very excellent, I have updated GarlicOs on my SD thanks to your previous video and it's going well for me, the only drawback I have with GarlicOs is that the battery lasts very bit
Thanks so much for your continued support of the channel, I really appreciate the kind words! I noticed my battery life has been greatly improved since updating to 1.4.9. I believe Black-Seraph included quite a bit of battery optimization over the last few versions. If your still on an older version, you might try upgrading to 1.4.9 and see if it helps with your battery.
@@otggaming3180 I am going to start the process from scratch and in this case I will use 2 memories, one for the system and the other for the roms and bios and I will see if the battery is better, although I am currently using the latest version 1.4.9 but I updated it based on your previous video
this is the problem im running into with every tutorial ive seen when ever i flash the garlic os i dont see the 3 files (bios, Rom, cfw) i get 19 different items
It sounds like you are only seeing the system partition which is separate from the ROMs, BIOS and CFW partition. If you are on Windows, it sometimes fails to assign a drive letter to the ROMs partition. You can try using disk management to assign a drive letter to it.
Brilliant 👏 thank you so much i just a brought RG35xx its a wonderful little system and two days later im here watch your very educational video👍👍 Quick question what is the maximum size card that will work on the RG35XX ?
Appreciate that! There are times when Windows doesn't automatically assign a drive letter to the partition. This might help: ua-cam.com/video/Ywa-y8f0Bso/v-deo.htmlsi=0ptiwB3rFcpNxjLU I know the video is for the RG351, but the same principles apply. Just look for the ROMS partition in disk management.
Followed all your steps but for some reason you had two extra folders out of nowhere during 2nd SD card setup, screenshots and saves, which did not appear on mine. Do I create these folders myself? Great tutorial btw! Thanks.
Very clear and helpful thanks a mil! One thing does it matter if for example my cartridge roms I use on pc so i unzipped them. I see when putting them on the rg55xx you transfer them as the 7zip files still zipped. does that make a difference. also the Playstation roms I use on pc are folders with a .bin and a .cue file in them. do I just transfer the folder for each game over into the PS roms folder on the rg55xx or do I just transfer the .bin file? I would just test but I´m away for a while and Im just curious now 😅
No problem, glad you found it helpful and thanks for the feedback! For cartridge games, I keep them zipped so as to save on storage space. Technically, an unzipped Rom will open faster because it doesn't need to be uncompressed. But the time difference is so imperceptible it's a non-factor. For PS Roms, you'll want to transfer over both the bin and cue files. You might also look into converting them to .chd format. CHD combines the bin and cue into one file and also compresses it. You get the benefit of smaller file sizes and fewer files to keep track of. It's pretty straightforward and there's a number of good tutorials online. I covered it in my video on PS1 emulation in RetroArch: ua-cam.com/video/ZGHzc_9cqEc/v-deo.htmlsi=3yQHxszvdiZLPvxF&t=116
I tried many different tutorials but it just won’t turn on after installing everything. Was able to install back the original OS, and Batocera OS, but the Garlic no luck. Any ideia on what is wrong ?
Do you still have the original OS SD card? And will it turn on if you use it? One quick thing you might try is to hold down the power button for about 30 seconds to see if that get's it to power on.
Thanks for the guide. I did the dual sd card setup but my unit not reading it for some reason. I stick on doing single card setup for the mean time until I figure out the dual as card
No problem, thanks for leaving a comment! With dual SD cards, the most common issue I see is that the 2nd SD needs to be formatted to FAT32. That's the first thing I would check. I hope your able to figure it out and happy gaming :)
Any idea why my files would stay on 1st SD card and moved to my desktop? I didn’t copy it. I physically moved it over. Would I just need to delete them off the old one?
@@MAXXMP3 Hmm... A couple other things to check... 1) The SD card. You'll want to use a quality, name brand card. The generic cards from Anbernic can exhibit strange and odd behaviors. 2) Your rom files and formats. You'll want to verify that you have good versions of each game. Again, the ones included by Anbernic can be suspect, so it would be good to get yours from a better source if you haven't already. Also check that your formats are compatible. You can do so using the OnionOS wiki: onionui.github.io/docs/emulators/psx onionui.github.io/docs/emulators/nes onionui.github.io/docs/emulators/snes
Hello, I'm installing Garlic from scratch on 2 cards and was able to get it done but I'm unsure of something. Do I just follow all of the steps that you went over from the start or skip to the 2 card method? Also, there's another tutorial on UA-cam and on his website that doesn't say to actually move the bios and roms from card 1 to card 2. It just says copy the files to card 2, it does mention moving or deleting bios and roms from card 1. Any help would be appreciated.
Greetings, You'll want to follow all the steps from the both the starting from scratch and 2nd sd card setup. Regarding the 2nd part: if you keep the bios and roms folder on both card 1 and 2, you'll get duplicate entries in the GarlicOS menu for each game that is on both cards. So you can keep roms and bios files on both cards, however I wouldn't recommend having the same roms and bios files on both cards as that will clutter the menus.
I would first try redownloading the file. If that doesn't work, one or two others have mentioned that they had to reinstall 7zip to fix file corrupt errors.
Im using 2 sd Cards. Did install garlic and works fine but dunno how to move games from old sd Card to new one. I coppied roms folders before then coppied games in them but cant see many games and others are multiple when i open the rg35xx.
Absolutely, you can use a 128gb card. The max size the 35XX will accept is a 512gb card. However, if you don't plan on adding a ton of games you could probably go with a 64gb or even a 32gb card. I currently use a 64gb card and it contains about 1,900 games with about 100 of those being cd based.
Unfortunately, no. However, there is a newer version of GarlicOS, version 2.0, that is available for the 35xx plus. I plan on doing a video as soon as I have a 35xx plus in hand.

No problem. Thanks for the comment! I've heard reports of the roms that come stock with the 35XX not working very well with GarlicOS. There's a number of threads about this over on Reddit. I use my own collection of games so I haven't run into this problem personally, but I understand that many have addressed it by using a different version of the rom. You can have games on both sd card 1 and 2 and GarlicOS will see both. But if you have the same games on both cards you'll see duplicate entries in the console menu.

You're welcome, so glad you found it helpful! I don't know if it's possible to turn off the feature in GarlicOS, but if you press "Start" instead of "A" when opening a game it will load the game as normal without using the last save state.
I'm on the last part just after formatting to fat32 and moving the files says it's going to take about 3 hours!?!??!? Is that right or did I botch something??
