  • We are still in the beginning stages of building up our off grid homestead.
We are currently living in a camper while we work to build our solar and water system to make life a little more comfortable.
We have planted tons of fruit trees and have began working on the food forest.
Next spring, we hope to break ground on our cabin build!

This is an excellent rain catchment system! Thank you for sharing. You guys are doing something very similar to myself and I hope to pick up some good ideas and experiences from you. The algorithm finally recommended me a video I would like to see and I'm looking forward to viewing more of your content. Best wishes.

Thank you! I took a look at your channel and it looks like we are doing a lot of similar things. I think we can definitely learn from each other!

@@ReWildingOffGrid Awesome. Hopefully you'll be able to pick up even some small idea from something I've experienced. Your explanation of the empty bottle floating and stopping the flow into the first flush diverter was an aha moment for me. Learning even little nuggets like that can be a game changer.

Same with your tarp system! I’ve been over here thinking about doing some sort of reverse umbrella shape 😂😂 A tarp between a few trees will be a lot easier.

Hey, I'm the one that bugged you about the pressure canners. Lol so you know I have questions about this. Lol because my new house has a rain catchment system on the roof with a 4"pipe hanging off the side of the house so my question if I can ask is where did you find or but the big rain storage container and the filter and pieces because that's exactly what I need for my house. If that was a diy that's genius.

Hey friend! Hope your canning adventures are going well! We bought the 275 gallon IBC totes off of FMBP. You want to find used food grade totes and you’ll have to clean them good (it’s not hard). Ours once held sunflower oil in them. Buying these totes new is EXPENSIVE but they’re cheap used. We paid $45 each for them.
The filters on top of and inside the gutter were just at Home Depot in the gutter section and the leaf eater was found on Amazon! That one is linked in the description, I think 😂
It is a DIY system, for sure! I just watched a few videos of people who had done diy systems with first flushes and came up with one to work with our space. PVC is like a strange puzzle 😂

@@ReWildingOffGrid yes, I've done a couple canning drills but I have plans of making a garden and utilizing that rain pipe and this would be perfect. I'm so happy for you I know you and your family have been looking forward to moving off grid. I want to use the rain container to water the garden living here in Texas we had a lot of rain but during the summer it gets super hot with no water. I watched some videos also but they all seem sponsored and trying to sell you their expensive system. Thank you again you're a life saver I love your videos you have great ideas.

It’s the same weather pattern here too! Tons of spring rain then it becomes like a desert in the summer. I’m hoping by next year, we’ll be able to take full advantage of the spring rains.
So happy to hear you’ve started canning!! It’s nerve wracking at first but once you get the hang of it, it’ll be like second nature!
And thank you!!! 😊 we have been looking forward to it for awhile! It’s so weird that it’s actually happening!!
