Paula died in the shower of a massive aneurysm. Mydear friend Randy, who was her fiancee found her.It was instant. He woke up and realized it was two hours later and the shower was still full blast running. It would have been a very special night for her and some kind of award was gonna be presented to her. She wouldn't have been an hour late for anything. It really broke Randys heart. He left a promising career in the music biz.He helped a lot of talent pop.Now he s with her rip Dec2012
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 RIP Paula .....you are missed but NEVER forgotten 😊😊😊......(my dad passed away with a massive aneurysm 😢😢😢😢😢...I would never want anybody to see a hospital scene like that! 😮😮😮
This is a great remake of The Sunsets - The Hot Generation (Newcastle, Australia) from the mid 60s. Great post! Paula, may you rest in peace. They have other great records too, besides this one. File under 60s retro. --80s garage----something like that.
How did this band never pop onto my radar until now?! I love garage rock, and The Pandoras were such a raw, no bullshit, kick ass garage band. Damn did I miss out. Thanks so much for uploading this.
Glad to , though I wish I could tell you something like he was playing , next week, instead. But , when Paula passed , I honestly had'nt heard anything about her in a few years. i was in LA a cople of times , and by then , the Hair Metal Invasion was well underway. The Cavern was gone. Very few Garage , Punk , or Rockabilly bands could sustain a following in LA , anymore.
Allen Kracalik There was at least one other girl group that used this name, they appeared on the Ohio tv show Upbeat in the late '60s. And I'd be willing to bet a few other groups used this name over the years as well.
@sailor7x The Hot Generation 7" single. Really cool picture sleeve with the band at the beach. It's also included in the CD re-issue of the LP "It's About Time". But the 45 RPM single is the coolest (and loudest). Google Voxx records and you can order it there.
If I'm not mistaken , it was in early '91. I just remember it was right around the same time Robin Tyner passed away. It was a heart attack , as far as I know , some other people left some info about that on this thread. I just heard about it through friends , I saw nothing in print.
You're right . that's how I originally heard it. He and his Son were just pulling out of the driveway in two cars , Robin, Jr.(If that's what he still calls himself) in front , and Rob behind him , when he had a heart attack at the wheel , probably lost consciousness , or just his ability to control the car , and ran into the back of his Son's car. Very sad. I met Tyner once , and he was a real good cat.
Rob Tyner plowed in to the back of another car in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I SEEM to recall something about losing consciousnes at the wheel & that MIGHT have been the reason; a heart attack I mean.
This was one of the best bands in L.A. If I remember correctly, didn't the girls "adopt" the surname Pandora(as in Paula Pandora, etc.)like the members of the Ramones did?
what is the genere the this song? no hablo ingles pero que genero es este y que diferencia hay entre el glam y el hard rock aprate de la forma de vestir
They may have , briefly , as an in - joke or something ,but they always went by their real names , except in the case of Julie Patchouli , and maybe one or two others who passed thru their ranks.
That's right , after the first album , the band split up , and the other three members started a "Splinter Group" (That released the awful "Worm Boy " on Enigma.) using The Pandoras' name , but Paula won out , with this lineup , then the "Stop Pretending' lineup ,with the same Drummer seen here (Forgot her name , sorry.), Melanie and Kim. That's when I saw them . They were using more modern gear and dressing a bit more contemporary , but , they brought the rock.
Still great though. Now, it's going to be funny (strange) because I'll hear this music first and imprint on that and then check out The Sunsets, or vice versa? Either way, appreciate the info. and the fact that there were a lot more female bands not just from the ones that get sooo much commercial coverage.
Maybe it was in late '90....Paula , Tyner , Stiv Bators and Johnny Thunders all died within a relatively short time of each other , so ,I get 'em confused sometimes.
Actually... I think what happened here is that the guitarist on the right (with the brown wig and shades) is a guy standing in, dressed in drag. The singer, the bassist and the drummer all look like girls... it's just that one on the right that stands out, IMO.

That's terrible!

Played at my high school with the Three O'Clock......that's when SoCal had an unreal music scene. 1984
They were HUGE in France ! So many parties with their music !
If these guys came out now they would be huge. Absolutely brilliant!

RIP Paula. Still love you.
They were one of the best garage rock bands of the 1980’s but were treated like a novelty act.
Iconic band... sixties border punk... Great hot generation
My friend told me about this band because we're into this music and my name is Pandora, and I love them! Great stuff!
How did this band never pop onto my radar until now?! I love garage rock, and The Pandoras were such a raw, no bullshit, kick ass garage band. Damn did I miss out. Thanks so much for uploading this.
saying the same thing to myself
Because there’s an awful lot of bands out there and it’s impossible to be familiar with them all. How about the Lyres?
I love this band

Thanks for the additional info
Yes, there was a 60's revival in the 80's, and fortunately it lasted the entire decade.

I totally dig how this bitchen tune starts out groovy, blossoms into far out, and explodes into total gnarliness! Tubular!
We live to be free, give our hearts to the sea,

I met her, she was really friendly and sexy.

WOOOOHOOOOOOO my 2:41 minutes of fame !!! LOLLLLLLLLL
You looked so cool with those glasses Julie...was this also before you bought your Vox Phantom bass?
Love ya Julie!
Surf Punks look out for those Pandora’s
nice job, imagine the ramones covering this...perfect for them
love it!
Hot! I always prefered them to the Bangles!
Great paisley underground.
Wwwwwwoooooooow
what is the genere the this song? no hablo ingles pero que genero es este y que diferencia hay entre el glam y el hard rock aprate de la forma de vestir
Llego 12 años tarde pero ni glam ni hard rock, esto es Garage Rock.
They may have , briefly , as an in - joke or something ,but they always went by their real names , except in the case of Julie Patchouli , and maybe one or two others who passed thru their ranks.
I saw them when they turned Heavy Metal. What a shame. I wish I could've saw them doing 60's garage.
The 60s? Never heard of the Pandoras. But, it's cool though. Glad to know there were groups outside the universe of the Beach Boys.
The Pandoras were primarily an 80's band.
You're right, I'm confusing the Pandoras with Rochester's Antoinettes
@problem49 That's so cool. I hope my ong addictions to nictoine and computer duster kicks in around thirty.
They were from Rochester, NY
Los Angeles.
No... that's Julie Patchouli
HOTHOTHOT! thanks for posting this............

It's a bummer there aren't any good versions of this song on UA-cam.
She wasn't in the band yet. This is the first line-up.
If my maths is right, Melanie is still a teenager in this video and it doesn't look like that's Kim on bass, yet? Also, RIP Paula.
I REALLY WANNA KNOW WHAT THE LYRICS TO THIS SONG ARE!!!!
Look up Hot Generation by The Sunsets
@problem49 At the time the explanation was that she was out jogging when it happened, keeping fit ironically. Very sad.
Still great though. Now, it's going to be funny (strange) because I'll hear this music first and imprint on that and then check out The Sunsets, or vice versa? Great song! What year is this from?
0:17 WTF?! Is that Spud Goodman?
Garage so sounds
"Rock n Roll Girl" featuring Marilyn Monroe, is on my channel!
Needs to be about 50X louder.
@bobiscuter if you suss the version by the sunsets you'll make them out
deberias buscar en wikipedia en ingles para saber la diferencia.
intersting. 60s revival in the 80s?
Katie k Yeah just as there is a 90’s revival now and revivals of every decade really :)
Yep. It was a huge revival.
Maybe it was in late '90....Paula , Tyner , Stiv Bators and Johnny Thunders all died within a relatively short time of each other , so ,I get 'em confused sometimes.
psychpunkgarage man...or simply 60's garage, of course done in the 80's !
@eatandtravel me too!
I don't know about the rest of you guys but, I think these chicks just blew my fucking head off.
lord, save me
@movicious hilarious
some one tell me please, i only came here cause of the muffs, was Kim Shattuck here or something??
Yes. Kim played bass for the Pandoras from 1987 - 1990. She left to form her own band, The Muffs.
Christoff Yu Kim was in the band from
1985
Allen Kracalik
I'm well aware of the realities of MK-Ultra, but how do you know Paula Pierce was one of the victims?
We are all victims
Excuse my spelling. Recovering from a minor eye irritation.
Ha! The Donnas fucking WISH!!! I'd say they're more of a wanna-be Runaways than a wanna-be Pandoras.
This is good, but I prefer the 54 Nude Honeys cover.
Hot lip-synch.
Actually... I think what happened here is that the guitarist on the right (with the brown wig and shades) is a guy standing in, dressed in drag. The singer, the bassist and the drummer all look like girls... it's just that one on the right that stands out, IMO.
bookhouse88 that is julie the bassist after Bambi and before Kim
No. Wear some glasses.
I thought for a minute the lead singer was a guy in drag.
songs awesome! monkeeman1966 seems smart. I told my roommate they're drag queens just to hold his attention. don't thumbs down this for that reason.
Are you fucking kidding me man! They sure look like chicks to me!
Never seen a transvestite band before. They're great.
You probably _still haven't_ seen a transvestite band.
What are you talking about?
the music is good but they appear transvestite
No.
The 54 Nude Honeys cover of this song is far better than this one.
singer is a man, you dont laugh of me
its an all female band. look it up
a man with a wig and a dress
your a tool
+nacho nachete Váyase a la verga, chavo.
a la verga de la cantante?
they sure have big adams apples for chicks....
