The words "Old Grey Whistle Test" spring to mind. Great memories, always in awe of the skill to marry the music and image together and this is a perfect example on how to do it. I absolutely love this content 👍🙌👏
At first I thought I was watching Cirque De Soleil Circus Act from way back.. This is TOTALLY way out there... Mesmerizing Tune that can't be put into words.....
I remember my dad always talking about the 13th Floor Elevators! He became a fan when he came up to here to Austin to attend school in 1966. Another dad favorite is Shiva's Headband! Wish I could've experienced Austin as it was back then. It was still nice when I was a kid in the 80s, but nothing like it was in the 60s! It totally sucks nowadays!
I have been a fan of the 13th Floor Elevators since the 80"s (I got turned on to them by a comment that a member of the 70's punk band Television made about their greatest influences.) Easter Everywhere is one of the great albums of all time, not just one of the great forgotten albums. If you want to listen to another great album try Marquee Moon by Television. At first I thought the dance sequence by Janik and Arnaut was something modern done to Roller Coaster, but upon closer examination I found that it is actually from 1954. Well a couple of great artist to do some more research on! Thanks so much for posting this!
J'aime, bien sur, cette musique, mais ces deux danseurs sont vraiment extraordinaires, on voit toute la (modernité) de ce spectacle de 1954, c'est très troublant de bauté, merci pour cette découverte.
I'd love to hear a space an 3 cover, I'll have to look it up. That jug thing does make such a unique sound and looping rhythm. Maybe it is the timbre, too that just makes it kind of mesmerizing. Listening to the hug and watching the snake lady simultaneously, I really feel a thrumming in my brain, it's like a physical pleasure derived from this unnatural looking and sounding shit that confuses my sensory processing.
Wonderful piece! I heart contortionists, and this as the visuals with the 13th Floor Elevators is oddly kind of perfect! Thank you, and for the info on the dancers as well!
Holy smokes! Is there a wire I can't see? She really moves like she weighs almost nothing. If this isn't a stage trick, that's INCREDIBLE strength and agility on display. #mindblown
I feel like I took acid just listening to the song but then watching this video I think it’s even worse but it doesn’t matter because it’s so captivating
Well once , somewhere, sometime ago His eyes were clear to see, He put his thoughts into my mind, And gave my self to be He stopped me from living so unsane, I could be just what I want to be And things appear as they really are, I can see just what I want to see Oh come on, and let it happen to you, I say, I say come on, and let it happen to you You gotta open up your mind And let everything come through Come on yeah! Well it starts like a Roller coaster ride, So real it takes your breath away It slides you through your point of view, You look back to where you thought you'd stayed Your ride changes outside view, While it glides you like a neon ray, And you find you don't have to search for words, 'Cause there's nothing you need to say Well come on, you gotta let it happen to you, Come on, and let it happen to you, You gotta open up your mind And let everything come through After your trip life opens up, You start doing what you want to do And you find out that the world that you once feared, Gets what it has from you No one can ever hurt you 'Cause you know more than you thought you knew And you're looking at the world From brand new eyes, And no one can ever spoil the view Come on, and let it happen to you, Hey, hey, hey come on, and let it happen to you, You gotta open up your mind And let everything come through Open up your mind, And let everything come through

The video just so matches the music. Great take on Roky and the 13th Floor guys

I can hear that jug digging into my brain. I used to have these early 13th floor albums but had to sell for the cash, probably worth alot more today.

The music from my youth. The electric jug is still a mind-blower. Spaceman 3 did up a great cover of this.

I like the 17 minute version.
This is an excellent representation of how I know when I've added exactly the right amount of chilli..
The punk band X uses the guitar riff on their song White Girl. Surprised no one has ever noticed that.
Rest well brother
there is that famous jug sound again- This is Great !
How could this masterpiece go so overlooked? the rythm changings are awesome...
Thats incredible choreography.

roky claimed pink Floyd stole the riff for there SET THE CONTROLLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN
yeah the similarity is pretty uncanny.
Rock writer Jim DeRogatis also sees a strong similarity between this song and the Floyd's theme from "More" which came out in 1969.
I wouldn’t doubt it but to me is sounds more like a Syd Barrett tune off of The Piper
You get triple bonus points for noting where the footage came from. Thank you!
