Oh my God! I just saw them a few weeks back on their Farewell Tour and it unbelievably one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I said to myself it's a shame this trendsetter of a group has not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 🤔
I get goosebumps every time I hear this music. I remember dancing it when I was 16, in 1982, in a Night Club in Ericeira, Portugal, that was just in the edge of a cliff, right next to the Ocean. While you danced, you could see and even feel the waves and the swell crashing below, sometimes spraying the windows. It was always cold and stormy outside, but inside we always felt so wonderfully cozy and blissful. These were magical times.
J’avais 16 ans en 1983 . Chaques été , j’étais au Portugal , à Vieira de Leiria .C’était le brouillard humide le soir et un grand soleil la journée . J’étais fan de B 52´s ( Whammy ) 1983 Talking Heads ( fear of music ) 1979 Stranglers ( gospel according to men in black) 1981 , Squezze ( east side et story ) 1981 Wire (chairs missing ) 1978 Foreigner ( IV ) 1981 Ac/Dc ( back in black ) 1980 Pink Floyd ( the wall ) 1980 Led Zeppelin ( II ) 1969 Beatles ( white album ) 1968
I never had the pleasure to see them next to a cliff in Portugal, instead a smokey club in DC, but the memory is no less magical. Those really were magical times.
fabluous memory! I remember listening to them in 1980 at work, high on crystal meth, while working the weekend night shift as a mainframe computer operator...
This is their coolest song in my opinion. It’s just so low key but intense at the same time and I like the guitar 🎸 riff and overall groove of the whole song. Brilliant!
Totally agree, I just discovered it on the weekend and can't get it out of my head. It was even the soundtrack of my dreams last night. I can't remember that ever happening with a song before. So damn catchy.
@steven milstead In 1980, John Lennon called the B-52's his favorite band, and specifically cited "Rock Lobster" as an inspiration for his comeback with Double Fantasy. (Wikipedia)
Just don't know how I missed/forgot this B-52 classic! Keep playing over n over. Cindy's n Kate's voices just blend so well together n like already been said the way they harmonise is just pure magic n hypnotising. So underrated and better than any other female duo from that era and now. Have always had my favourite tracks from previous albums but this I just can't believe is at least 40yrs old. Sounds even better now than when I first heard it.
When I was 14 I was singing this while doing my homework. My stepmother freaked out and screamed “WHAT ARE YOU SINGING?!!” I had no idea what she was going on about. It would be a few years before I knew enough to understand. 😆
This vinyl masterpiece was on high rotation back in the day. So glad to rediscover which has to be one of the coolest songs ever! Currently on repeat…😎
I remember seeing these 2 ladies on the tv when I was a kid, with their big hair & crazy makeup & thinking they were the most beautiful women in the world.
Just pure genius. I love this song from what I think is the best B52 Album. Every songs on this Album is one of a kind in its greatness. And then you have the girls....ahhhh
before, there was only music, sounds and words put together with more or less talent. Then came those guys from Athens to take us to a trip to new galaxies
MTV. 1990. I didn't have cable until then. Friday night videos never played the B-52's to my knowledge. I liked Deadbeat Club. Then ROAM came out. I was a late fan. Saw them live in 1992 and 1994.
So glad they chose to visit Earth.
Meet you at Planet Claire, babe.😉

Agreed. And their best album too.
Pour moi as well. I'm more of a Moody Blues person but songs like these are special.

THE GREATEST TRACK BY ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS !!!
Damn!! Those voices!! So perfect!
J'adore Cindy dans cette vidéo! Elle est top craquante avec ses contours d'yeux noirs et son déhanché à damner un saint...
I still think this was the best b52s song..the girls were so on point and gorgeous...
B-52's sound is timeless...
Surely they should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The most underrated band in history.
John Lennon rated this band as his favourite.
I was just thinking this to myself...I say this every time I go on my occasional B52's binge. Every time.

GREATEST very cool 🎉👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One of my favorite b52 songs. Mesmerizing 🥳
Best show I've ever seen-so ahead of their time.
My very first record I bought. And I always liked this song the best. Haunting, catchy and just sublime.
I could use an energized line on a dirty back road right about now.
yeah me too
quite possibly the best thing they ever did.. genius. and the restraint!
It's taken me decades to fully appreciate this number
The few that down voted this classic just aren't into the whole back door thing.

They have a surf-mod combo that is like nothing else I'm 59 and still blast the hell out of b52s in my garage

From the golden era of music.
Super-beautiful tune with angelic vocals. The finest example of hedonistic exhibitionism since Andy Stewart singing ‘Donald, where’s yir troosers?’
Even better since I found out what it's about, absolutely awesome band ,RIP Ricky Wilson
One of my favourite The B-52s songs. Was incredibly privileged to see them on tour in the UK in 2013. An absolute dream come true!
Best band ever !
Where was this, back in the FMTV days (earlier than MTV) in Colorado... I think it would've melted my high school self!!!! Hot Stuff.

This has been my favourite B52s song for such a long time.

Cindy back in the day….
I suppose this song could be an allegory. But I always like the song on its own merit.
