I didn't grow up a hunter but my son and I have spent the last two seasons hunting together and there's nothing like it. These guys have inspired me. I spent this last week skinning, quartering and butchering my own deer. I have a working knowledge of the animal and how to use it. It's an awesome feeling. around 2 days ago I randomly looked up a vid for quartering a deer as background noise while I play a chill game (Medieval Dynasty) and was roped into the channel by how humble and sincere - coupled with how informative and useful and hi-quality - that vid was. Now I'm hooked. Netflix or UA-cam, I'm watching all this channel's vids.

Honestly hunting in Alaska even for a resident is such a logistical endeavor that I find myself missing just being able to go in the woods n hour from the house and hauling a whitetail or a turkey out by myself. Damn nice shot, and what a memory. That was a well done episode. Add more of the "in-camp" meals and comradery though.

Man I’ll be honest, at 15:45 when I saw that ram who heard the shot and then went to go get to his buddy to run away I was saddened to watch him see his buddy tumbling down the mountain to his death so he ran away. I’m too soft I guess 😕

I really dont think there's anything wrong with feeling for an animal, even if you're totally ok with hunting them. I think there'd have to be something wrong with you if you didn't feel anything at all.
One thing that always stuck with me - i think it was on the JRE, can't remember - someone said, "wild animals don't die of old age". Something eats them, they get left behind by their group when they get too old and/or sick, freeze, starve, etc. Being shot by a responsible hunter is the best end one of those animals could ever wish for.

That's a good favor to offer to a guy from Vortex Optics, I'm sure if Steve ever needs anything from Vortex he's hooked up!
