- apparently every first date in the bay area / silicon valley goes like this.
chatting with Lillian Zhang about dating apps, avoiding cringe meet-ups, proper communication on tinder/hinge, taking rejection personally, and whether dating is really a numbers game.

typical bay area first date stories LOL the cringe is real
Was it Harnoor? 😂😂
sometimes people think it’s
find your love -> love your life
but it’s actually
love your life -> find your love

Yea they say happy wife happy life, the reality is no wife happy life.
Love is overrated!!!
I hope she watches this video in the future, and realizes how judgmental and immature she comes across. There is nothing wrong with someone asking about your major, your goals, or your hopes and dreams. Ridiculous video.
I’m already annoyed with her I’m out …
Lol this might be a case of confirmation bias. You might have pre-judgement about dating bay area guys and you look for specific things that confirms this bias. Idk the guy doesn't sound THAT weird.
Talking from experience, it’s always better to grab drinks like boba or coffee on the first date rather than dinner. That way if you’re not vibing with the person, you can just leave rather than being stuck there for an hour lol
No. You are better off meeting in a bar and smashing, or moving on. Bagels and muffins just put you in the friendzone for another book club meetup. Better still just quit the whole dating superficial nonsense and go enjoy you life with friends you've had for a decade or more.
Dating apps can be really frustrating because you just don't get the full picture from a text message. One of my pet peeves is talking to someone that's giving one-syllable answers. I assume that they're not interested but can never figure out why we matched in the first place. But I've also had dates with people that were completely different and chatty in real life.
So you went on a date and the guy asked you about your major? In what world is that a weird thing to ask on a first date?!
"It's just a numbers game" is what people want to say if they want 0 responsibility of self improvement and introspection.
The girl keep saying “like.. it was like.. like like”
Wait a minute… Are you telling me tinder is multiplayer, where you can talk to other people? I must have had the single-player mode turned on. That explains why I haven’t gotten any matches yet 😅
bro i dont even have single or multiplayer XD
What if this whole video was just a recording of a Tinder date
That’s what I was thinking
Apparently Chris’ way of listening is covering his face and saying “uhhh man” before a girl even says anything, because he knows the story is bad.
be kind
we must crawl before we walk
She seems to be a Valley Girl. I felt sorry for they guy who had to listen to her.
Ummm like, do you think she's like, a valley girl? lol. I agree 100%, she looks cute, but the voice would drive me crazy after a while.
@@TheCRTman Suburban, entitled, too cool for computer science nerds.....Valley Girl.
@@jonlenihan4798 No hate towards her but there is literally nothing wrong with the guy she's criticizing. She's getting triggered because he asked what major she was doing.. like, really? lol.
@@painexotic3757 I think it implies that the guy only cares about X, but idk what she is thinking. Now does that really make him a bad person though?
Lol, I wonder if she's reading these comments
socal is worse. You should see the hinge.
"Literally every guy on Tinder in the bay area" imagine if the genders were flipped
The guy doesn't seem any more awkward than the average person, seems normal (except the profile screenshot, but that's after the fact), sorry but she seems way more awkward IMO 🤣
I wonder how many people heard the "700 people? I don't think that's mentally possible for anyone to keep up with" and instantly triggered a "challenge accepted!" response 😂
I don’t know I feel like theirs a bit of young kid immaturity going on. I see nothing wrong with what the guy was asking you. He was making conversation and it was both parties job to keep the conversation flowing, but hey what do I know 🤷🏾♂️
the solution is to voice chat on discord before ever meeting up :)
This is wrong. Most guys on Tinder would never get to the point of actually going on a date.
6:10 what's wrong with you bro, falling asleep or harsh realization? I wouldn't swipe right on her. Yes the algorithm statement made sense
okay but I think it depends maybe. I personally have only known healthcare workers and I'm from the bay area - never met a CS person lol
Can we trade lol
In the first two minutes I was thinking "Well I wouldn't mind the first questions being about my major. sounds like an awkward introvert struggling with small talk" and then the profile screenshot part came and I went like Nope.🥴
Nothing but trolls in the Bay
Relationships in the bay area unfortunately are based on money.
My first timder was the only one i ever had
Ahh I love your jean jacket!! Where is it from?
lemme ask her!
shein!
Really?! that's really strange..
Gotta fill the belly up! Tech bro talk 🤣
Yeah he is nerdy but he probably makes $200k at least. It’s a tradeoff.
Dude did u enjoy ur time with tech. Tren black, in one of ur previous videos said that u r super talented but have no passion... So I wanna ask u did u enjoy programming and just doing tech projects in general?
