The seiko is very nice but the BB58 is something very special and wears perfectly on the wrist due to its moderate lug to lug and thinness.

Fantastic side by side comparison! I do have the seiko in two variations 143 and 213 and I have to say the limited editions bezel action is slightly better. They are both running within +\- 5 seconds per day. I would absolutely love a bb 58 however the lack of date complication is something that would bother me. Even though I appreciate the symmetry of the dial. It is lovely to hear how affectionate you are towards your watches almost not wanting to draw a conclusion. Keep up the good work my friend!

I have a 143 and I love it (now that the movement was fixed under warranty). But I would imagine that Tudor buyers don't have to worry if their watch will be running 25 + seconds slow after they take it out of the box.

Great video! I have the blue BB58 and the bronze one but man do I like my two Seiko SPB147 and 149s they are such amazing watches. Wear so well and you are right, that coating is amazing. One is original design. The other a homage. And that kinda defines the brands themselves and not just these particular pieces.
If you like a homage fair enough get the Tudor. I’ll stick with the Seiko.

I do prefer the aesthetic of the SPB143, it gives me both modern and vintage vibes, whereas the BB58 appeals more to vintage. I currently own my second SPB143, the first one, which I bought new, I ended up selling after having accuracy issues, it was gaining 25 seconds per day. After a thorough search on the internet about this issue, I found out that this model allegedly doesn't come regulated by the factory, but after a few months of use, it can settle in a decent accuracy range. For 1.2k I found that unacceptable and sold It after 3 months of ownership. A year later I bought another one, used, half of the price, and it is making +2.6 seconds per day.

That's useful advice, I'll look into used ones then. It reminds me of buying lower-end Marimbaphones; the cheaper manufacturers don't give the wood enough time to dry, so the wooden bars might ruin the pitch within 2 years. So I bought one that was 3 years old, knowing that if the pitch was still good, it would likely stay good.

Got the 143, went snorkeling and diving with it what I was on vacation in Hawaii. I would never do that with something like a Tudor or an Omega, and that’s a real shame because tool watches like these deserve a full life of travel and adventure. I know that in 20 years when I look down at my Seiko and see all the dings and scratches it will remind me of all the great times spent with my friends and family. Submariners never see saltwater

I have both of these watches, and they are both excellent value in their own way. Now that my Seiko is on a Seiko rubber strap from the SPB 147, it wears as comfortably as the Tudor and makes the watch look even better. I encourage all SPB 143 owners to ditch that clumsy heavy steel bracelet in favor of a rubber strap of your choice.

I had the oppsite experience. Had QC issues on my BB58, dust on the dial and crystal, uneven lume plots and loose fliplock. Even though Tudor fixed it for me, it was quite disappointing after going through all the waiting and never connected with the watch when I got it back from their service, eventually sold it after a month. Picked up the SPB239 (the gilt version) few months aho, not a single qc issue for a Seiko, ran +10 seconds out of the box but got it regulated and now runs at +/-2 seconds a day. Made me spend on a bunch of straps cause that watch just looks great on every strap you throw on it. The diashield coating is just a great addition for a tool watch, barely any scratches on the watch except the clasp.
Would love to buy a BB58 again when Tudor updates the models and hopefully get rid of the faux rivets bracelet.

The Tudor is NOT a Rolex and shouldn't be treated as a replacement for a Rolex, understand what you are buying when you get a Tudor. That being said, I have the BB58 and SPB143 and both are good for their own reasons. The issues the SPB143 has don't matter to me...I don't like bracelets so I removed the bracelet, and I have the tools and timegrapher to regulate my watches so timekeeping is no issue to me.

Overall I love my Seiko, just wish it wasn’t so thick (almost 14mm) and could be a bit lighter. However, the accuracy is killing me….around -30 off the wrist and -40 to -45 on the wrist. People say “just have it regulated”, but that’s $250 and waiting several weeks. Local shops won’t regulate unless it’s a Rolex etc, just not enough profit in it for them apparently.

I have a Tudor BB36 and a Seiko SPB147. Both were gifts and I love both of them. My Tudor is a scratch magnet, and I don't wear it as much as I do the Seiko. The Seiko will gain 5 minutes if I don't wear it for a day or two, every time. It keeps fairly good time when I'm wearing it, but gains like crazy when it's in the box. The Tudor keeps great time, but is currently my most scratched up watch. There are no scratches that I can see on the Seiko.

When worn 24/7 it's even better (maybe the dial up position when on the bedside table isn't doing it favors). When in the box, however, it's a horror show... 1-2 mins/day is the norm.
