I LOVE that you explained all the terms at the end + what we need to looking for (per situation), BUT....
I was confused not to see your thoughts ON Gen12 or any Razer Blade or others that have 1tbSSD.
I have been looking at for (upgradeable if possible):
    •Ram 32gb (upgrade to 64 if possible)
    •SSD 1Tb+
    •GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
    •gamut 100% Adobe
    •Refresh Rate 165Hz minimum
    •Processor i9 (hopefully 11th Gen)
    •UHD - 4K screen
    17"
    And anything upgradable possible

Great video. The best part for me was the explanation of the CPU types. All these numbers and designations don't really mean much if you're not a super computer geek like me. I now know exactly what to look for when I get my laptop without over buying or under buying. Very helpful.

I think adding the screen size of the computers you briefly mention might be useful! Since as a laptop video editor I really enjoy 16.5" screens and will take it into consideration when deciding on a laptop. Greta video btw

Additionally, besides noticing if you are getting either a 5800U or 5800H is also better to investigate a little further on reviews like the ones on your channel or other laptop testers to see what is the allowed wattage or TDP that each manufacturer configures or lets the CPU to run on each laptop/model chassis. i.e: a 30-35W TDP puts a 5800U very very close in workloads (and benchmarks) to a 5800H on a thermally so-so chassis. (one clear example of this is the 5800U on the Acer Swift X which runs neck and neck with their H counterparts from AMD and intel).

Thank goodness. I was scared that the the H processor in the ideapad 5 pro 16 would match the Swift X's performance with the 3050. I read benchmarks and theyre so close despite the 1650 in the Ideapad -- and Lenovo gies on sale more (and the 3050 Swift X isn't on acers website- i had to buy mine on Amazon)

I almost pulled the trigger on purchasing a Razer 14:
    Razer Blade 14 - QHD 165Hz - GeForce RTX 3080 Ti - Black
    AMD Ryzen™ 9 6900HX
    Windows 11 Home
    14" 165Hz QHD
    GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
    16GB 4800MHz RAM, 1TB SSD
However, the RAM isn't upgradable, and I saw the review on the fingerprints, easily dents, etc. For nearly $4000 (w/elite service plan), I changed my mind. I'm planning on using Davinci Resolve. Not sure if you tried this model yet. So many options, super afraid of having Buyer's Remorse if I make the wrong choice.

Great video Ben and very insightful. So i just bought 2 drones (a DJI FPV and a DJI Mavic 3 wPro Controller) and opened my video and photography company that I'm pretty stoked about so clearly that's why i am here :) lol. The current desktop im using has a intel i7 12700KF with a Nvidia GTX 3070, 16gb of RAM and 1TB SSD. Im looking to do alot of 4k and 5k work with my drones using Davinci resolve for editing. I wanted to know if following this spec model i currently have on my desktop would suffice on a laptop for my work?

In your 1080p & 4K mid range editing categories, if it's just simple NLE timelines, why not include the iPad? The iPad Pro (even the model 3) will exceed the benchmarks provided for the laptops you have shown. If I had no need for motion graphics, audio mastering, etc the iPad Pro is an amazing piece of hardware and the touch aspect of editing feels very natural and FAST.

One brand I don't think I've seen you talk about is alienware. The x17 has a 100% Adobe rgb screen on the 4k model so why might that not be talked about a lot for content creation? Or is it because other laptops are way more affordable and still have the high Adobe rgb colour accuracy?

Disappointed in some of the mid to high models that don't include a Blu Ray RW drive. Sure some of those have high end specs but it seems kind of cheap to not put a drive that's maybe $50 at most for the manufacturer. People still want their content on BluRay disk for get togethers or gifts.

Hey Ben! Thanks so much for the detailed video. I'm curious as to why you didn't benchmark the Dell XPS 15 in your Premiere Pro Export Test? You have it listed in your High End Laptops, but I couldn't find its benchmark performance compared to others in the Premiere Pro category. Do you happen to know how it performed? I'm looking to purchase the Dell XPS17, i7-11800H, RTX™ 3060, 64GB, and I'm trying to get an idea of how it would perform as compared to the other laptops you had tested. Would you have any guidance/thoughts? I appreciate your help!

Cracking breakdown. Most other reviews I’ve seen make you think it’s impossible to edit on most laptops compared to M1. I’ve recently started to learn After Effects on a 2nd Generation i7 with a GT555M - it tests your patience but it can just about cope with motion graphics and 1080p video. Currently in the process of looking for a new laptop so really appreciate the CPU depth you go into. On the GPU front, obviously an RTX3050 would be better than a MX450 but would the latter be ok ?

    Hi Ben,
    I have a quick question.
What would you say is the better laptop for gopro 4k footage.
Right now there is the asus tuf dash f15 and the msi katana gf66 on sale. Both for 1300$
    Both laptops are the same
    16gb ram
    512ssd
    GeForce rtx 3070
The only thing that change in the processor
    Asus with intel i7-11370h
    Msi with intel i7-11800h
Me personally, I like the asus more but can the i7-11370h keep up with the i7-11800h?
I would use as software davinci resolve
Would be nice to get an answer.

Hi, I loved your video, but I bought 💻 Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED listed on your 2021 video, and I'm having serious problems.
    Principals are:
1- frequently video on the Premiere and the After Effects come black but the audio still working, I save, close, and open again Premiere or After Effects, and the image came back.
2- when I try to render using the Media Encoder it crashes almost every time, in After Effects, I only can render using the `render queue` and using QuickTime prores 442.
3- in premiere I solved it, rendering all the timeline, in parts, using in and out, to turn all in a green preview and render directly render in H264 Vimeo FullHD preset, and sometimes it works only when I shut down my laptop and turn it on and only open the premiere or media encoder, otherwise it's crash.
First I suspected problems with windows 11, but I reverted to windows 10 fabric defaults
I tried updating Nvidia drivers, and nothing.
I tried a clean installation of Studio Drivers from the official Nvidia site (the laptop comes whit Game drivers pack), don't solve
I tried to uninstall all drivers, the `blacks` on the Premiere and After Effects reducing significantly the frequency of occurs.
I reduce the resolution to full HD and nothing...
    I really need help, I think to buy a `64gb kit DDR4 2x32gb Kingston` but I'm afraid it's don't solve the issue

1st of all, thank you so much for this awesome video, must took forever to make it. I am assuming that 12th Gen and Ryzen 6900hs/hx should have similar performance in Adobe premiere pro? I am not sure if should get Asus G14(amd)or Razer 14(intel). I'm 60% games, 40% adobe premiere pro. but I don't mind with 10-15 frames drop/less in the game. However I do mind laggy playback in premiere pro. which one should I get in 2022? (if we ignore razer 14 heating problems), thank you, please help.

      @DerpyFestus 3 роки тому +4

I personally haven't seen the slim 7 up close but i know its built well. (i bought one myself, its still shipping tho)
The g15 is a tank, especially with its magnesium allow chassis
The legion 5 is also built well but its a plastic build so its not as high quality as the other 2
Overall i don't think you can go Wrong with any one of them. It just depends on your needs. If u need the higher gpu power then the legion 5, and its also the cheapest of the 3 im pretty sure. If u want portability then slim 7 and g15. You cant really go wrong with either. I reccomend just looking at the pros and cons

Hi, would it be nice to have some kind of matrix like price : performance? I am getting lost with all this topical info. I guess that this info is important so you know what components are but I cannot see if the mid range computer is a better computer for my money than a more pro version.

I'm looking at getting the Asus ZenBook flip 15 Q538EI. Where would that land in this rating system for video editing?

While looking at the Premiere pro requirements, I saw that 32 gb ram is recommended, but I'm considering buying a computer with less ram capacity due to its price, is 32gb ram very important? Should I buy 32 gb ram and 4gb gpu or 16 gb ram and 6 gb gpu?

16 GB is alright. But for 4k editing 32 GB is defy going to be better/future proof (specially in case the ram is soldered)
As for the GPU, it doesn't matter as much for premiere to begin with. It matters for Davinci.

@@hilalyldrm8285 You're welcome, I hope it helped. Which laptop were you looking at?
Regarding your question on whether to go 32/4 or 16/6, I think the most ideal option is to buy 16/6 and then upgrading to 32 on your own later on.
But that depends solely on whether the ram is upgradeable on the specific laptop model you are looking at.
