this video popped up in my recommended, and i have never clicked on something faster. i, too, love this guy so much…. you touched on a lot of aspects of his character that i’ve been fascinated by - the double meaning behind his name, why tf he’s wearing the bandages when a t-shirt would be easier, the secrecy behind his backstory… it’s clear you really understand this guy and how and why he acts the way he does. it’s fascinating to think of what other secrets he may be hiding. as someone who’s struggled a lot with depression and grief, the tragedy of his character arc and how he’s more or less rescued from suicide by someone who then goes on to commit suicide himself REALLY got me. to come out of all of that still strong enough to want to live life with head held high… oouuugugggHHHH what a guy…. veevaaaaaaaaaaa…….. another commenter beat me to what i was going to say about the plus signs in his eyes representing health or healing, which tie into the irony of his name, how someone so entrenched in death is also so irrevocably tied to life. (this may also just be the queer conspiracy theorist in me, but especially following yakou’s dlc and theorizing what might happen next in the story… vivia’s name could even take on a new meaning tied not just to his own life, but someone else’s second chance at it. just sayin’.) well done on an excellent analysis of my favorite eepy guy. i’m excited to check out the other videos at some point too!!
no bc i love him so much like i watched yakou's dlc last and after seeing that he and the chief have such a close connection literally made me cry like waytoo hard hghhhhhhhh i love this sleepy guy
A really great analysis! I love Vivia! I also love how his name is so odd yet so good at bringing in some neat symbolism. I always thought the plus sign irises could have to do with life similarily to his name since it is also a symbol used to represent health therefore life/longevity. Also about the bandages I think he goes out of his way to do that to feel similarly confined as he does in small spaces or maybe even to feel confined to his body when he's awake though I'm only guessing with that one.
thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed! and about the plus signs and bandages, those are some good thoughts!! those didn't occur to me as i was making this video lol, but it adds to his character and all the symbolism around him!
omg i thought you were gonna be done explaining like four times but then i was like "WELP, SHES CONTINUING AGAIN" lmao i love vivia (also ur very underrated! love the video)
The connection between Vivia and Yakou is genuinely so sweet.. 😭 I would love to see a Yomi analysis video. I think he's a really interesting character. Of course, this is only a suggestion :)
thank you!! i love vivia and yakou's bond too! i'm not certain if i'm going to make a video on yomi individually, since i was considering lumping the peackeepers together in the same video because most of them don't appear much. but yomi might deserve his own video because of how much screen time he has!
@@onecargoshort To me his relationships and dynamics with Zilch, Martina, and Makoto are fascinating. I also wonder if he could potentially parallel Yakou in a way.. I don't think we got much insight on Yomi's backstory though so an analysis on him might be trickier :')
@@vesc2201 tricky is fine! i like a bit of a challenge. i don't know when i'll get to yomi, since i'm thinking of doing a few others first, but i'll definitely get around to it!
CRAP I'M LATE AND ESPECIALLY FOR THE ANEMIC VAMPIRE?! TLDR(This comment is a bit long): Get Vivia into therapy. He's so silly and I adore him almost as much as Makoto :(( Im so glad you talked about how important Yakou was to Vivia as part of his analysis instead of just focusing on his gumshoe gabs. Vivia's DLC is so important and some people just ignore it:( (Also I feel like people overlook his line when Vivia talks to Yuma for the first time ( "You came over to talk to me? How kind... Yuma" I think, that lines from memory) this could potentially tie into his backstory, that he liked any attention, even if it was negative) Also i agree with you on Chapter 4. It is heartbreaking and i refuse to ever watch it again, I'm too traumatized lol About CH 4, it could be noted that Yakou didn't even have a last stand like the rest of the culprits, which adds onto the fact that Vivia was the only one defending Yakou (Potentially could tie into his theme of turning a blind eye to the truth, or maybe even show that he even fights against the truth itself?) Which is so sad to me, I'm not sure if it's because Yakou was important to him or just his beliefs working against Yuma that show during Ch 4 more, but either way, made a really interesting case.
agreed!! i also noticed that yuma never actually faces a mystery phantom version of yakou, unlike with the culprits of the other cases, who DO have phantom versions of themselves. i'll probably go into more depth when i eventually make a video on yakou (who is currently next in line for me, i think), but since mystery phantoms are there to obscure the truth, it seems to me like yakou wasn't actually trying to hide what he did, or something like that. but yes, vivia playing the same role as a mystery phantom definitely ties to his avoidance of the truth!
They way chapter 4, Vivia, and Yakou dlc broke me like 😭 like I hope they he come back for the sequel if they make one.

Vivia’s DLC made Chapter 4 even more soul crushing… Him and Yakou are definitely some of the best characters Kodaka’s created. Great analysis!
i absolutely agree, his DLC adds so much context behind his actions in chapter 4. it's an amazing addition to the base game!

Honestly the 1st time his character introduced I thought his surname is Vampire Twilight reference since he’s vampire look alike edgy boy.
it could be! it would make sense, especially since shinigami calls him "the anemic vampire"
Thank this was very useful info 👍👌
