The thing that's really scary about Yomi Hellsmile is that, his over-the-top evil aside, there are a lot of people like him in real life. Whether they're law enforcement, a political leader, or just an authority figure in general, there are unfortunately no shortage of people in the world who will do anything to attain power for themselves, even if their methods come at the expense of people's basic human rights or even their lives. He's a very grounded and all too human monster that can exist in any place, shape, or form.

Why can't we find the other stars that formed with the sun? Shouldn't they be close.?

The layman's idea of belts and discs and clouds might be a bit misleading as the distances between individual objects must be on average far greater than in the asteroid belt, and even there a fast spacecraft would take days to travel between any two objects. The distances between objects in the Kuiper region must be exponentially greater, and greater again in the Oort region, assuming even distribution. Collisions must be infrequent events on a human timescale, though on a geological timescale the gravitational effect the objects have on each other will gradually build up and pull them together.

Fascinating stuff, I didn't realise the Oort cloud was still only theoretical, i had a science book many years ago and it was so confident about the Oort cloud that I was convinced it was a real thing.

i love ichika!! shes my favourite character, and i relate to her so much. i also have a huge passion for music and love for miku songs, and i have also had a time where my friend group fell apart. im glad to say that i have a good friend group now. im happy that i can see a relatable character like ichika in one of my favourite games. im glad to say that im a huge ichika fan!! ^^ i also cant wait for the pjsk movie,,, it comes out on my bday !!

this video popped up in my recommended, and i have never clicked on something faster. i, too, love this guy so much…. you touched on a lot of aspects of his character that i’ve been fascinated by - the double meaning behind his name, why tf he’s wearing the bandages when a t-shirt would be easier, the secrecy behind his backstory… it’s clear you really understand this guy and how and why he acts the way he does. it’s fascinating to think of what other secrets he may be hiding. as someone who’s struggled a lot with depression and grief, the tragedy of his character arc and how he’s more or less rescued from suicide by someone who then goes on to commit suicide himself REALLY got me. to come out of all of that still strong enough to want to live life with head held high… oouuugugggHHHH what a guy…. veevaaaaaaaaaaa…….. another commenter beat me to what i was going to say about the plus signs in his eyes representing health or healing, which tie into the irony of his name, how someone so entrenched in death is also so irrevocably tied to life. (this may also just be the queer conspiracy theorist in me, but especially following yakou’s dlc and theorizing what might happen next in the story… vivia’s name could even take on a new meaning tied not just to his own life, but someone else’s second chance at it. just sayin’.) well done on an excellent analysis of my favorite eepy guy. i’m excited to check out the other videos at some point too!!

ichika is one of my favourite characters of pjsk! she's very relatable and has always been a very important character to me. her backstory is so rooted on lonliness and being distanced from other people, it's such a simple concept but a lot of issues/topics can stem from being alone! esp being out of the loop about everything!! i love her so much

I agree, the peacekeepers were under used, I really wanted to see Seth again after Chapter 1. I thought there was so much potential for them when they were teased in trailers and such. But while not canon, there's a fanfiction series called raincode new game +, it's an alternate universe where the train detectives made it to Kani Ward and how much would change. The author writes the characters well and dabbled in the peacekeepers stories of past things they did, and shows/mentions them frequently. It's up to the 3rd chapter of the game, which is being regularly update.

All these videos were such great analysis of the characters and were really well thought out! I liked them a lot. Damn, both his and Makoto's name meaning "truth" is such a neat detail I wasn't aware of. I swear Makoto's actions are probably a warning Yuma could be prone to go too far with his good intentions sometime in the future if he continues working alone towards his dream. I wonder if we'll ever see a scenario where Makoto has to actively stop Yuma from going too far and putting the world in danger while seeking the truth. It would be neat to see him return the favor Yuma did for him. On the topic of Shuichi I think both Yuma and Shuichi are based off Detective Conan in some capacity (I haven't seen that anime, but ive heard many people say there are a lot of ties to it between the both of them) so that could be a part of why they feel so similar. Fun fact: before the game released I thought Yuma would have to shove the solution keys in his eyes because of his keyhole eyes. Obviously I was very wrong, lmao.

There are a few things I found were interesting about Shinigami that I hope to find out in a sequel. First, as you said, it seems like Shinigami must've been free from the book at some point and she kind of treats what she's doing like a job so I wonder if there are Shinigamis who do other types of pacts or have different "jobs". Secondly, Kodaka said something about Shinigami only being meant as a partner for Yuma in an interview so I wonder if we'll see another Shinigami in the next game and if they'll also just be called Shinigami or have an actual personal name. Maybe it's just her thing to not tell a personal name to her "client" to avoid attachment.
