    Aftersun was my favorite movie of the year, and extremely impressive for a debut. Can't wait to see what she does next.

    What is the point of these round tables if the moderator is just going to treat it as a one on one interview with each director? Let the questions be open for everyone, not just routine questions about why you cast that actor.

  • @jed6780

    There's no point to having a round table with these great directors if all you're going to do is keep them in silos with individual questions as if you were alone with each one. The interviewer failed to tap into the dynamism of a round table - searching for commonalities and themes among them, playing them off each other, getting them talking to each other (with his moderation), etc. Even the Hollywood Reporter round tables are way better than this.

    I found these to be more interesting when they were dialogues between the directors and not just some moderator asking someone a question and not following up, just asking the next question of the next person. What's the point of having them all together? It's not really a roundtable, is it?

    Wow I just realized I met Charlotte Wells in a film festival in Mexico and had no idea who she was (hadn’t seen the movie by then). Part of me is glad I didn’t know her because I would’ve start bawling and telling she broke me lol hope she gets the Oscar.

    Really wonderful job interviewing this amazing filmmakers. A chat that feels grand but intimate, with space to let the directors think and interact with each others. As a filmmaker myself, this conversation means a lot...hope to be there some day. Thank you for this, LA Time.

    I can't believe that "nope" made 170 million at the box office.Terrible film, boring and pointless. The main actor in the film does not play at all. Probably the reason for this is corrupt film critics who praised this boring stuff (film by a black director with black actors, the critics never had a chance).

    • @fernandopompeu1645
      @fernandopompeu1645 Рік тому +2

      Spiderman No Way Home is perhaps the worst, laziest, most common-denominator movie Hollywood has produced in the last 40 years and it made, what? 2 billion dollars? But I reckon you'd only take issue with it if it starred black actors in the leading roles, talked about race and spectacle in a confrontational way and was directed by a black guy. And this is coming from me, a guy who is really not a Jordan Peele fan!
      Btw, pretty much 99.7% of all movies ever made are pointless so I really don't get what you're trying to say here.
