- In this episode of Cabin in the Woods, I show you how to install metal standing seam roof in a valley. I also share the valley standing seam trim detail and what works for us. Stay tuned for the next couple videos which will also show more metal roofing details centered around the standing seam valley. There is just too much for one video.

@@MustardMade thanks bro
7 minutes in,i was like hold on thats a massive deja vu.
Dont worry man its all good👍
Maaaaaan, I was questioning my sanity there, for a minute. "Premiered 52 minutes ago? I swear to Bob I watched them do this last week."
What's the best way to keep you monetized? simply viewing? or do the likes and comments add to it? I'll do whatever you need to help out.
With Ryan's ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE plan I was like one taken by the hand and led step by step from start to finish. Thank you very much Ryan!
I like "you'd rather be uncomfortable than unalive." I'm using that. Simpler than rules. Thanks.
First reaction: "Oh, sweet!"
Second reaction: "Oh, right."
xD
For a minute I thought I was having a crisis. lol
I've been enjoying this series from the beginning, but had to stop and comment on this one. This is - EASILY - the best video I've seen on how to install metal roofing the correct way. Your attention to detail is impressive, and I appreciate the way you explain why and how you do things.
incredible attention to detail not to mention craftsmanship, this a good show "work-pride" Thanks for sharing.
I was like, man, I could've sworn I watched this before. Deja vu or am I going crazy? LOL
LOL, right? who knew, right?
Just can’t believe how accurately you build these buildings that match up so perfectly with your math!! 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱 you are two smart young men!
Thank God you have part 14!
Such a beautiful roof....I never thought I'd say that about a roof.
Roofing looks amazing both of you have done a great job
Really good work. I reallly like the detail you use when you are describing what you are doing.
Kyle great job on the roof install in the valley! I am looking forward to the next video!
Just as interesting the second time!
Have premium, so I'll just let it run. Good job as always.
Right. I watched the whole episode again.
rewatching it right now!
I am an Architectural Designer in the UK, and the workmanship you guys display is mind blowing and amazing to see. Absolute pleasure watching your videos.
The mathematics you use is also second to none. So skilled at your work.
I bet your customers feel so proud to live in homes that you create. I would love for you to build a home for me in the UK. In 2017 I took the decision to build our first home and got involved with the internal works and loved every minute. Im in the process of buying the next plot.
All the best with future work, and I hope you continue to do your videos.
Mark
I bet you liked your own comment
You should delete and re-post videos more often Kyle! Can't believe how much more I picked up on the second time around. I'm almost to the point where I think I could handle an install myself thanks to you. Great job and keep those videos coming!!
Haha I don’t think I’ll make a habit of it
There is it, mucho appreciated! Was starting to get a twitch in my right eye from not finishing it the other day....
I'll even sign in, add a like and turn off my ad blocker. Love standing seam! Thanks for the vids.
haha thanks man
We're all human. Really enjoy your work and the skills you demonstrate. Wished you worked up there in Alberta, Canada. I think your buildings could withstand our climate. My favorite UA-cam channel.
love the videos, hate the commercials every 3 minutes. keep up the good work.
Nice work, love your attention to detail.
Tools make the man ! And you are a math whiz. Love the attention to detail.
Real men wear short shorts and sun hats. 🤙🏻
Thank you for sharing your videos and I have learned a lot from your roofing work. I work as a roofer. I like to learn metal. Best regards from Chicago, Illinois.
That's why I felt like a deja vu !!!
Don't worry I saw it again and gave You a great like .
I was like, hang on a sec...... oh that's right Kyle did a boo boo. Good series this one lads, keep it up. 👍
I got your back my bro, you got my time and thumbs up. That's the very least I can do to support you.
Thanks brother
Fantastic series. Banter is hilarious. Looking forward to part 15.
Even slow days are productive days.
I did rigging for precast concrete garages on and off for 10 years, (when I wasn't on a precast job, most likely I was inside at Intel) elevator shafts or stair wells were always slow days. It could take 45 minutes +/- for 1 piece. I both dreaded and looked forward to those days, dreaded because they would be long, slow days, looked forward to them because they were easy days. I could use the extra time to get ahead on other parts. Staging materials & prepping the next few bays.
Looking sharp! Im planning on buying and building a house on a 26 acre land! Thanks for the video its super helpfull and well explain! Belle job! From quebec, canada!👌
This is just amazing content, my new favorite channel.
I watched this again.....no problem, you both are excellent craftsman...
Like you Kyle I have many tools...I mean alot! 90% Milwaukee, same tool, same battery. I notice you have different tools which means more batteries and chargers...
I want your speed square......
Martinez Tools
Got your back Kyle and Greg!
Watched a second time to keep this series at the top of my feed.
Thanks man
You are doing a great job guys! Thumbs up! 👍😁
Nice job . . . as always
Good job guys
if i lived in your area and wanted to find a contractor to build my house it would for sure be you .. your detail to perfection or close to it... its great ...
Good vid as usual. Great job
Wanna Hear Some More Greg Rap!!!! LOL!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 You Guys Are Frickin'Awesome!!!! I Wish I Could Work With You Guys!!!! Awesome Craftsmanship!!!!
This is like deja vu all over again
Watching these videos is OCD therapy for me lol. Northern Illinois is in good hands. You guys and Matt Risinger make me feel better about my building standards lol. Wish you guys were in Canada!
"Altz Ick Kahn"..........As good as I can, fellas. great job. look up the history behind the phrase, you will find you are living up to it. thank you for your great work.
Great work, very few would go through those steps to "hem" roofing materials. Way to be K. & G.
Whoops! Doo Doo happens. Reliked , as well as rewatched. Always great content! You guys are pro's.. Keep it up! Side note, always appreciate the videos as I know it tales alot of time from your day to do all the filming , then time from your family to edit and upload. Thanks man!!
Thanks I appreciate it
Kyle, I really appreciate your videos. Your work fantastic and I sure wish you were in Idaho. We are getting ready to build a shop w/apartment to live in while we build our forever home on our retirement homestead. I would kill to have one of your shops. Instead, I am going to try to find someone comparable. *Recommendation* Video on what you should look for when finding a pole-building builder. If people can't have your work, at least you can help them find someone who does work similar to yours. Thanks, Colt
that is a good idea
I put my own standing sam metal roof on about 12 years ago. Some of the methods have changed since then. Nor did I have a sheet metal brake or some of the other fancy tools used in this video. Dont get me wrong, if I had access to such things at the time I would have used the hell out of them. Everything i did was cut and bent by hand. I know from experience that working the valley does take time, but the payback is well worth it. You are going to be looking at that roof for decades. Most homeowners are willing to take that time, but all too often a contractor isnt. To see a contractor take the time and pay attention to detail as was done in this video is rare these days. This is the difference between a true craftsman who takes pride in his work vs a slap it up get paid and move on type of contractor.
Best line so far...."Greg, wouldn't you rather be a little uncomfortable than a little....ahh Un-alive?"
Love the channel. When you have time. If you could do a video or a series of video on deal with or preventing lower back injuries and pain. Thank you.
Greg had a run in with the law ? Was Greg speeding? lol 😂
It looks 👍
Great job 👏🏽 I just left it like 👍🏽
Well done
Great Job L👀ks Good Always Stay Safe Take Your Time... SLOW IS SMOOTH,SMOOTH IS FAST👍 Nicely Done Guys
i thought i was losing my mind i was thinking i thought i seen this, i was like Greg got pulled over thats why he was late. back to future. lol thanks for the reupload
Thanks a lot for you video.
Im really learning a lot from these projects that you upload, im still deciding if i would actually like to be a builder.
Although fall protection is really important Greg reminds me of those kids you see in WalMart on a leash.
Haha
Third time lucky charm
It happens to the best of us...
You're uploaded the same episode but change the title
Best of luck for attempt No3
Great videos btw, keep going
Cheers
I've only done 1 standing seam roof.
Did it exactly like this
However we added peel and stick then 2 inch styrofoam on top of roof deck, then added 1/2" ply. Then peel and stick again.
Sound and vapor barrier.
Roof deck was 2 inch tounge and grove. By 4"
Solid system.

Wow
2x2 around perimeter
Quality isn't easy or cheap, Nice work guys!
Here to combat the almighty UA-cam algorithm! 🤣🤣🤣 just as good the second time around. It’s like watching reruns! Keep up the great work Kyle!
Thanks brother
Kia ora koutou, from Auckland, New Zealand…
Seems like I've seen some or all of this before. Not an issue though because I'm a consistent binge viewer of RR Buildings video. Just like people watch sitcoms weekly...I watch RR Buildings several times a week.
Great video
Love the videos very detailed and informational. Could you do a close up of how you close the rib going up the valley
I know why Greg had a run in with the law!!
He didn’t have his open carry permit for those GUNS!!! 💪🏻
Was like I've seen this.. Read comments find out 2 are coming.. woohoo. RR building fix for the weekend sorted.
Good clip 👍! As a current UA-camr, I am contantly searching for creative ideas! Excellent Job!
Thanks
@@RRBuildings You're Welcome!
It looks amazing. Both times. Sorry you lost the first upload. That's a bummer.
I really like the looks of the standing seam. It’s neat and clean. But it really “seams” to take a lot longer.
Nice
I was like wait a second...... I’ve seen this before
Did I see this before? yeah I deff have seen this before... ahhhh that is why ive seen this before...... :D:D
I will be doing the exact same roofing on my house and it is all hip, ridge and valley. No gable ends due to the wrap around porches. I have never done this before.
How did it turn out!?
@@gentrifythis still not there yet. Just getting my shed and shop done. House is next. Mostly due to materials being delayed.
devastated 😭 was hoping this was the next video . watching it like im sure i have seen you do this once already 🤔😂
Come back Saturday it will be up
@@RRBuildings definitely bud love watching your work from the uk . however , how do you find the time toso the work , make money and film it all at once 😂
Thank goodness I though I was loosing my mind. Deja Vu moment.
I'm waiting to see how you tie the ridge cap in at that intersection.
Why are we watching this video over again I done seen it once 🥺
Use a plastic slip or a plastic taping knife to slip the hem on the jiggle. Lol great video
Lol nice repeat, was hoping for the next video
To quote Biff in Back to the Future 2, there's something very familiar about all this ;) lol. Got another view count from me though
Thanks
I just started watch this and was getting serious deja-vu, you still get a like the second time around
Nice job lads. Incorrect use of words. Delete water, insert beer. lol
Good afternoon from St John Parish, Louisiana 24 Oct 20.
I SWEAR I've already watched this!?! 4 days ago
4:00 Poor Greg needs a sun hat too.
You should try 20” wide snap lock it looks a lot cleaner and way less cutting and hems up the valley
Seen it but good content
I have done Central States standing seam hidden fastener system, not sure if that is the same company you are using but looks similar. But yes the prep is crazy important.
Wow I watched THIRTEEN videos, all immensely enjoyable, just to see you make those valleys. I wanted to see how standing seam roofing is installed. Then at 7:35 you get all shy about if I want to watch the details. Of course I want watch the details! It has been so much fun to watch you build. My only suggestion, is to ask that you post, and tell me where, photos of the completed building. E.g. the garage with the "Man Cave" corner, and floating floor; what did it look like when finished inside? Please, post photos of this when it is finished.
I thought I was doing a groundhog day. Wait, I know EXACTLY how he's going to nip and tuck that metal eave corner and...leave a bit to block for critters... LOL!
Appreciate the hell out of this video series as a diy guy tackling a small porch of standing seam this weekend(s). Question: Will I be able to bend that seam in at the bottom of panel after notching it out, with a hand seamer? I obviously don't have a badass table bender like that...tia!
IT WOULD BE GREAT TO SHOW OFF SOME OF THE EQUIPMENT YOU USE IE THE HIP THING TO ATTACH THE WORKER TO PROTECT FROM FALL, GREAT VIDEOS TKS
Damn I was so confused. 😂
Hey man, could you do a video dedicated to going over the trigonometry you use in your everyday builds? I've learned a lot already watching your videos but just wanna pick your brain a little more.
I was wondering wth was going on. I was pretty sure this all sounded so familiar lol. But I let the video run again for your view
I was having deja by🤣
It’s been wicked hot here in Maine and being on the roof is even worse
Dr. Michael Johnson Jr well up north not so much but I’m in southern Maine
Dr. Michael Johnson Jr at least I can dress for the cold
I wonder how much water you two drink throughout the day. I remember working construction in Palm Springs during the summer drinking 4-5 gallon jugs of water and never peeing once. 🤪. Stay hydrated. Great joc
