    my fan game will definitely need Mega Evolution involved, especially when i intend to have Mega Evo help pokemon that arent strong enough in the end game to warrant training/battling with.

      This is what you do for Mega Evolution in 17.2
      1. Go on to Graphics and then go on Battlers and on any Pokemon you want to Mega Evolve just left click one's and put in _1 next to it For example Charizard is 006,png so for charizard to mega evolve put in 006_1.png Ok.
      2. Go on your game folder and go on PBS and go Pokemonforms.txt and do this:
      [CHARIZARD-1]
      FormName=Mega Charizard X
      MegaStone=CHARIZARDITEX
      Type1=FIRE
      Type2=DRAGON
      BaseStats=78,130,111,100,130,85
      BaseEXP=285
      Abilities=BLAZE
      Weight=110.5
      Color=Black
      BattlerPlayerY=7
      BattlerEnemyY=11
      And after that exit and save.
      3.Now go on Items.txt and do this:

      The Actual Real PikachuFans2018 opponents are automatically assumed to possess Mega Rings, so you don’t need to give them one

    This is great and easy to follow thank you, however from my understanding Mega Rayquaza works a little differently than normal pokemon, something about eating a meteorite. Do you think you can made a add-on tutorial for setting up Mega Rayquaza?

      I think instead of checking if it's holding a Mega Stone, you have to check if a variable you created is set to true.

    i'm having a problem, i added gen 6 and 7 pokemons, and even have the PBS for all gen 6 but EBS doesn't put them in the files "Back,Front,etc..." and i dunno why

    Hey! So I've started to make my own game, and I've run into a small problem that you might be able to help me with. I edited Houndoom's stats in my editor and went to edit Mega Houndoom's stats as well, I also wanted to give it the Drought ability. I went to playtest to make sure I didn't screw up, but wh n I went into battle there was no option to Mega Evolve at all. It was holding the item and I enabled the Mega Ring, but still nothing. I reset Houndoom and Mega Houndoom's stats to what they were before, but still nothing... any advice?

    I've been following up on your videos, but there's just one thing, I made a custom Mega Evolution For Mew and it worked great but there's a downside, Mega Evolution in my game is Permanent, is there a way to fix that so they can revert back to it's Original Form? I just need a certain Script to do so!

    Hey Im in 17.2 and my "Pokemon_MegaEvolution" script only includes primals, and no megas whatsoever. I've downloaded all the gen 6 PBS files. Is there a specific place to download this script or did I forget something?

    Whoa 6 years ago lol. Im hoping that this still basically works. Im expecting it to be different though.
    Im going to try to make mega evolutions more like Necrozma's ultra evolution or whatever its called. Hoping to only need one "ultra z item" and have them ultra evolve based on the move they end up using. Crossing my fingers!

    Hi dude ! Indeed the fact that I have installed all the sprites with correct names, when I mega evolves a pokemon its mega sprites doesn't appears :'( It keeps playing with the basic animated bw2 sprites as if I didn't mega evolved it
    And when my opponent mega evolves a pokemon, its sprites appears !
    I precise that I have installed elite battle system and I'm on v16.1 for pokemon essential !

    I am not using elite battle system, is there any way to program an animation to happen when mega evolving if you're not using elite battle system? Right now it just awkwardly changes photos.

      I believe mega evolving uses the common animation called "MegaEvolution".
      I would recommend watching my most recent tutorial about move animations for setting up common animations: ua-cam.com/video/CGz-h-DzJDU/v-deo.html
      I didn't realize it at the time I made this video, but that's a huge bummer that default Essentials 17.2 doesn't have a mega evolution animation created! That's actually super terrible! Since it's possible to import animations made by others, I can look into creating a mega evolution animation and then sharing it publicly!
      Line 1701 in PokeBattle_Battle is this btw, here's where it calls the animation of mega evolving:

      Super late and stuff, but if you're still curious, or for anyone passing by in the comments, just make the event activate a self switch, then create a new page that is empty, and set the conditions to "Self Switch (A,B,C,etc.) = ON"

    Soooo... mega evolution works fine for me, my pokemon mega evolve correctly and all but they remain mega evolved even after battle and wont turn back to normal, why could this be happening?

      go back into the scripts and see what you missed by comparing them to the other Mega Evo scripts, you must've missed the command to revert them to normal after battle.

    I can't get this to work at all. If I try to add the items, the game breaks, meaning it crashes upon startup. I can't get the scripts for it, and there's no copy out there with it pre-installed. Can you find out how to work it?

      Can you send me the message that appears when your game crashes? There may be an issue with the formatting in your scripts, or a missing item definition in your PBS files that are leading to the game crashing on boot.       I think I already know a bit about what's happening. The game doesn't crash immediately on startup. It crashes once the save file select screen loads. Then it freezes for a minute, and then in-game text box pops up saying "The script is taking too long. The game will restart." It may be because of my data format. Instead of .txt files, they are .DAT files. I can tell those kinds of files can't be tampered with.

      Update 2: I tried adding the Mega Ring to my game as an item (like you said in the video, a key item that does nothing) but it doesn't show up in my game. I used the "Fill Bag" command in the debug menu to try and find it, but it's not there.

      Update 3: Once again, I'm an idiot. I set the pocket value of the Mega Ring to 0, which is why it didn't appear. I set it to 8 after watching part 19 of the series, and now I'm totally stacked. Not only does the item appear in my inventory, but Mega Evolution now works entirely. I made Mega Charizard X, and the game didn't break at all. Aside from all of my mistakes, this was an amazing tutorial! Thanks for your help!

    Use that to define a mega ring in items.txt.
    Replace 526 with the ID you want to use, Like if your last ID was 598, use 599.

      Zakk14 Hard to tell. I would read and follow the steps from Pkmn essentials wiki and maybe see if you missed something. Maybe even delete and do all steps again.

      This is what you do for Mega Evolution in 17.2
      1. Go on to Graphics and then go on Battlers and on any Pokemon you want to Mega Evolve just left click one's and put in _1 next to it For example Charizard is 006,png so for charizard to mega evolve put in 006_1.png Ok.
      2. Go on your game folder and go on PBS and go Pokemonforms.txt and do this:

      Either GIMP or Paint.Net! Pixlr is good too, and that one is web based!
      My next tutorial is actually going to be about making pixel art, and I'm making sure to not use photoshop in that one! Only free alternatives!

    How could I give the Mega Evolved Pokémon a different cry? I tried using a new file and naming it after the number of the Pokémon's Mega Evolved form (MegaGyarados, "130_1Cry"), but it didn't work.
