i'm having a problem, i added gen 6 and 7 pokemons, and even have the PBS for all gen 6 but EBS doesn't put them in the files "Back,Front,etc..." and i dunno why
Hey! So I've started to make my own game, and I've run into a small problem that you might be able to help me with. I edited Houndoom's stats in my editor and went to edit Mega Houndoom's stats as well, I also wanted to give it the Drought ability. I went to playtest to make sure I didn't screw up, but wh n I went into battle there was no option to Mega Evolve at all. It was holding the item and I enabled the Mega Ring, but still nothing. I reset Houndoom and Mega Houndoom's stats to what they were before, but still nothing... any advice?
Where do I get the sprites for the mega stones? The project you talked about doesn’t seem to exist and bulbapedias images are low quality, aren’t the correct size, and would take way too long to download
I've been following up on your videos, but there's just one thing, I made a custom Mega Evolution For Mew and it worked great but there's a downside, Mega Evolution in my game is Permanent, is there a way to fix that so they can revert back to it's Original Form? I just need a certain Script to do so!

Indeed the fact that I have installed all the sprites with correct names, when I mega evolves a pokemon its mega sprites doesn't appears :'( It keeps playing with the basic animated bw2 sprites as if I didn't mega evolved it And when my opponent mega evolves a pokemon, its sprites appears ! I am not using elite battle system, is there any way to program an animation to happen when mega evolving if you're not using elite battle system? Right now it just awkwardly changes photos.
I believe mega evolving uses the common animation called "MegaEvolution". I would recommend watching my most recent tutorial about move animations for setting up common animations: ua-cam.com/video/CGz-h-DzJDU/v-deo.html I didn't realize it at the time I made this video, but that's a huge bummer that default Essentials 17.2 doesn't have a mega evolution animation created! That's actually super terrible! Since it's possible to import animations made by others, I can look into creating a mega evolution animation and then sharing it publicly! Line 1701 in PokeBattle_Battle is this btw, here's where it calls the animation of mega evolving: pbCommonAnimation("MegaEvolution",@battlers[index],nil)

Soooo... mega evolution works fine for me, my pokemon mega evolve correctly and all but they remain mega evolved even after battle and wont turn back to normal, why could this be happening?
go back into the scripts and see what you missed by comparing them to the other Mega Evo scripts, you must've missed the command to revert them to normal after battle.
I can't get this to work at all. If I try to add the items, the game breaks, meaning it crashes upon startup. I can't get the scripts for it, and there's no copy out there with it pre-installed. Can you find out how to work it?
Can you send me the message that appears when your game crashes? There may be an issue with the formatting in your scripts, or a missing item definition in your PBS files that are leading to the game crashing on boot. If you send me that crash info though, I can take a look at it and try to discern what's going on exactly!
I think I already know a bit about what's happening. The game doesn't crash immediately on startup. It crashes once the save file select screen loads. Then it freezes for a minute, and then in-game text box pops up saying "The script is taking too long. The game will restart." It may be because of my data format. Instead of .txt files, they are .DAT files. I can tell those kinds of files can't be tampered with.
Update 2: I tried adding the Mega Ring to my game as an item (like you said in the video, a key item that does nothing) but it doesn't show up in my game. I used the "Fill Bag" command in the debug menu to try and find it, but it's not there.
Update 3: Once again, I'm an idiot. I set the pocket value of the Mega Ring to 0, which is why it didn't appear. I set it to 8 after watching part 19 of the series, and now I'm totally stacked. Not only does the item appear in my inventory, but Mega Evolution now works entirely. I made Mega Charizard X, and the game didn't break at all. Aside from all of my mistakes, this was an amazing tutorial! Thanks for your help!

How could I give the Mega Evolved Pokémon a different cry? I tried using a new file and naming it after the number of the Pokémon's Mega Evolved form (MegaGyarados, "130_1Cry"), but it didn't work.

I think instead of checking if it's holding a Mega Stone, you have to check if a variable you created is set to true.
Can you make a video of how to properly add an EV/IV screen to your Pokemon summary please? :D

Hey! So I've started to make my own game, and I've run into a small problem that you might be able to help me with. I edited Houndoom's stats in my editor and went to edit Mega Houndoom's stats as well, I also wanted to give it the Drought ability. I went to playtest to make sure I didn't screw up, but wh n I went into battle there was no option to Mega Evolve at all. It was holding the item and I enabled the Mega Ring, but still nothing. I reset Houndoom and Mega Houndoom's stats to what they were before, but still nothing... any advice?
Did you try changing the scpecies name to HOUNDOOM or something?
Where do I get the sprites for the mega stones? The project you talked about doesn’t seem to exist and bulbapedias images are low quality, aren’t the correct size, and would take way too long to download

Hey Im in 17.2 and my "Pokemon_MegaEvolution" script only includes primals, and no megas whatsoever. I've downloaded all the gen 6 PBS files. Is there a specific place to download this script or did I forget something?

Hi dude ! Indeed the fact that I have installed all the sprites with correct names, when I mega evolves a pokemon its mega sprites doesn't appears :'( It keeps playing with the basic animated bw2 sprites as if I didn't mega evolved it
And when my opponent mega evolves a pokemon, its sprites appears !

I have version 18.1 and in the Pokémon_MegaEvolution script I don't have the codes for all the Mega but only for Groudon and Kyogre, where can I find them for add more MegaEvolution?

I am not using elite battle system, is there any way to program an animation to happen when mega evolving if you're not using elite battle system? Right now it just awkwardly changes photos.
I believe mega evolving uses the common animation called "MegaEvolution".
I would recommend watching my most recent tutorial about move animations for setting up common animations: ua-cam.com/video/CGz-h-DzJDU/v-deo.html
I didn't realize it at the time I made this video, but that's a huge bummer that default Essentials 17.2 doesn't have a mega evolution animation created! That's actually super terrible! Since it's possible to import animations made by others, I can look into creating a mega evolution animation and then sharing it publicly!
Line 1701 in PokeBattle_Battle is this btw, here's where it calls the animation of mega evolving:

Soooo... mega evolution works fine for me, my pokemon mega evolve correctly and all but they remain mega evolved even after battle and wont turn back to normal, why could this be happening?
go back into the scripts and see what you missed by comparing them to the other Mega Evo scripts, you must've missed the command to revert them to normal after battle.
I can't get this to work at all. If I try to add the items, the game breaks, meaning it crashes upon startup. I can't get the scripts for it, and there's no copy out there with it pre-installed. Can you find out how to work it?
Can you send me the message that appears when your game crashes? There may be an issue with the formatting in your scripts, or a missing item definition in your PBS files that are leading to the game crashing on boot. If you send me that crash info though, I can take a look at it and try to discern what's going on exactly!
I think I already know a bit about what's happening. The game doesn't crash immediately on startup. It crashes once the save file select screen loads. Then it freezes for a minute, and then in-game text box pops up saying "The script is taking too long. The game will restart." It may be because of my data format. Instead of .txt files, they are .DAT files. I can tell those kinds of files can't be tampered with.
Update, Update, Update: I'm a dumb stupid idiot. I was putting the new files into DATA , NOT PBS. Fixing the problem now.
Update 2: I tried adding the Mega Ring to my game as an item (like you said in the video, a key item that does nothing) but it doesn't show up in my game. I used the "Fill Bag" command in the debug menu to try and find it, but it's not there.
Update 3: Once again, I'm an idiot. I set the pocket value of the Mega Ring to 0, which is why it didn't appear. I set it to 8 after watching part 19 of the series, and now I'm totally stacked. Not only does the item appear in my inventory, but Mega Evolution now works entirely. I made Mega Charizard X, and the game didn't break at all. Aside from all of my mistakes, this was an amazing tutorial! Thanks for your help!

I figured it out. In the newest version you have to define mega forms in Pokemonforms.txt

I dont know why the game crashes when loading the megaitem's name, and there problably is a better fix.

How could I give the Mega Evolved Pokémon a different cry? I tried using a new file and naming it after the number of the Pokémon's Mega Evolved form (MegaGyarados, "130_1Cry"), but it didn't work.
You would do "130Cry_1".
I had already figured out how to do it (and bashed my skull in with my keyboard for the sheer idiocy of this mistake), but thank you very much for the answer!
